Craig D'Alessandro:

This is the SM SW podcast. But it's all Raul Greg.

Joe Malkin:

Hey, Craig. No, it's not.

Craig D'Alessandro:

Yo trying to this is to our show. It's our big show.

Joe Malkin:

We got to do like, I know I wouldn't normally interrupt you But you said the SW podcast and we changed the name.

Craig D'Alessandro:

Why was it we have we hadn't majority rule thing around here and I was not aware of that.

Dave Clark:

You definitely were aware of that. We had a like crazy zoom meeting about it. It was super long. You don't remember?

Michael Marcangelo:

I do not. Craig, how do you not remember that night so much happened? Like including the name change? Dude, I'm I'm drawing a complete blank.

Rob Kelly:

With the amount of shit you guys give me for the amount of weed I smoke. You don't remember this? I mean, we were talking people broken in my house.

Craig D'Alessandro:

I'd fight them off. Well, we were stopped being behind your house all the time picking all your mushrooms you might have. That seems like something wouldn't be in trouble for

Rayshawn Buchanan:

I got you Bobby bro. You literally helped me deliver a baby via zoom like you're the Godfather.

Craig D'Alessandro:

First of all, I am the Godfather. But that's still not helped me in this situation.

Joe Malkin:

Greg, during this meeting the flowerpot on their balcony. It fell off. hit their neighbor below them. It's kind of a big deal.

Dave Clarke:

Do you remember my flowerpot it hit that guy in the head. He came up here he was all mad. But it jogged his memory. And he was my long lost uncle Dan. And we formed like a super special bond and we're gonna be best friends forever.

Michael Marcangelo:

I'm very happy for you, Dave. But I'm just not remembering any of this. Craig, let's let's just focus. You were wearing your blue sweater. Sure. It wasn't my green one. It was your blue one. on that case, I remember exactly what we did. Jesus, Craig. G key at least remember the name Craig.

Craig D'Alessandro:

See, that's the part where I'm drawing a blank.

Rayshawn Buchanan:

I will let me help you out. Isn't missing the point. Because you can miss the point as sports. But we often miss the point I was going on. Hmm.

Michael Marcangelo:

You know, that's not bad. Yeah, I

Dave Clarke:

mean, of course you think it's not bad. It was your idea.

Joe Malkin:

Greg, just just do the right intro.

Craig D'Alessandro:

This is missing the point. Because when you missed the point, it's all relative. place he kept his frickin shirt on. And you guys

Joe Malkin:

were wearing pants. Welcome, everybody to the unofficial first episode of missing the point. I'm Joel Malkin. Bringing in co host Mike Mark Angelo tonight. And, Mike, kind of a big day for the podcast.

Michael Marcangelo:

Yeah, I mean, it's crazy. First of all, that we're co hosting. That's never happened in the 14 year history of this entire thing. But it's a i think it's it's it's important. I'm so happy to be here. Do just to say like, 14 years ago, we started this thing, right? Just college kids just want to talk about sports on a Sunday night. Hence the name, the Sunday night sports wrap. And now know all the way through it. People like you know what the people wanted it. And we came back for a show in June. And then, you know, you kind of hit the ball hit the ground running with that with the whole podcast thing.

Joe Malkin:

Yeah, it's it's such an interesting thing, because we went with this NSW podcast as our name to stay true to Sunday night sports trap. I think that's partly because the six of us on the show may not be as creative as we all think we are. So we just kind of went with SNS w podcast and stick with it. But yeah, I mean, you know, to give everybody the background of where we came from. It was 14 years ago in college, the six of us got together on the radio. And I mean, really, if it wasn't for you getting us on the not to do some ass grabbing here. But if it wasn't for you, putting us on the show and bringing us in, we probably wouldn't be here. And then I think it was rayshawn originally that said, hey, let's let's do a show.

Michael Marcangelo:

I don't want to cut you off. But we've never been to coast before so I'm gonna cut you off. I think it was Bobby. I think like he he only the last couple years dude, if you remember like on on all social media. She's been saying like, let's get the band back together. Then, you know, everything that happened in 2020 happened we were all stuck in our houses anyway. And then we did it.

Joe Malkin:

Yeah. And now here we are. I mean, we're, we're, she's what 16 episodes in total, couple of interviews with with some some great people. And then we decided that it was time to get rid of the SN SW podcast because I think we all realize that it wasn't staying true to form. We're releasing episodes on Thursday. We're only doing a Sunday show once a month. And we were really just getting too big for Sunday's. So it was it was time to change the name and we kind of opened it up to discussion. And you know, again, I can't really put my finger on who came up with it, but we all came up with some ideas and and Greg, was it Craig Oh, you know what, I think? I think we referenced that in the intro. It's a good thing. It's a good thing we've set that guy straight. So we got the name from Craig we put ourselves together. And we've, we've even made some some t shirts and got ourselves some, some written write some real official stuff and, and changing the name to missing the point. And and I think it really fits us as a group of people. And as sports fans.

Michael Marcangelo:

Yeah, I think it sure does a couple important things, just for everyone out there. You know, obviously, thank you for listening so far. Thank you for listening 14 years ago, now, the Sunday night sports will still be happening monthly, on a two hour show like that we're never we're never going to get away with are never going to get away from that. But I do want to say like, there is no collective group of people that missed the point more than we do. So this just makes the most sense for us.

Joe Malkin:

Yeah. And and as you mentioned with the the Sunday night sports wrap, it's so great to get a live show once a month and let people on Facebook that follow us there and friends that we've known for so long. tear us apart, terrorists apart. Absolutely. We get it from everybody. Oftentimes, it's our significant others.

Michael Marcangelo:

Yep. Or your family. Yeah, that's

Joe Malkin:

Yeah, it's usually Bobby's dad, or games fiance that really rip us the most so right. But it, you know, we can understand why those are cowboys and Steelers fans respectively. So we understand it for sure. But yeah, you know, we just wanted to give you guys an idea of, of what we were doing a little bit of history on on where we've come from and where we're going. And why we're changing the name, you know, we are missing the point will be the new name of the podcast. We're going to keep Sunday night sports wrap once a month, two hours on usually the second Sunday of every month, but you know, we'll push it we'll let everybody know what's going on. And, again, all of our weekly shows come out on Thursdays and as you've seen with our first episode, armchairs ask athletes. We talked to Hillary rose MMA fighter from the Boston area. We've talked to Joe sway Pavone who's on the Cedric Maxwell podcast and really we've we've just put together some some great content Dave has had some great ideas with with game shows. So the sky's the limit here and we really felt that a name change was was right at this time and the best move for us.

Michael Marcangelo:

Yeah, dude, I think like there's nothing else that we can really say it's just you know, thank you for listening. Keep listening. If you've been here for the last 14 years, we hope that you stay for the next 14 years because I think MTP is much easier than sn SW. So like, rip, we love you. We'll still be there once a month but missing the point is where it's at right now.

Joe Malkin:

Yeah. 100% and now we can stop hearing it from people. How come you guys call yourselves a Sunday night sports rap when you release everything on Thursday. So thank you once again. For Mike Mark Angelo, and our EP Craig D'Alessandro myself rayshawn Bobby, Dave, Mike will I'll see you next week for the next episode. And we hope you guys enjoy the name change nothing's gonna change on the show will still hopefully be at each other's throats and entirely missing the point.
