MTP Boston - Maye, Maybe, Maybe Not
Three fourth quarter interceptions can turn a manageable road game into the kind of loss that sticks with you for months. We come in still annoyed about the Patriots dropping a 13-10 game to the Seahawks, not because losing to Seattle is unthinkable, but because New England had control early, got a break when the starter went down, and still found a way to give it away late. If you’ve been searching for honest Patriots talk that doesn’t dodge the ugly details, we go straight at the decisions that actually decided the game.
We dig into Drake May’s night from every angle: the numbers that look fine at first glance, the throws that cannot happen in that situation, and the bigger question of what “smart quarterback play” really means when you’re trying to win instead of just survive. We also hit the moments that snowballed the chaos, from brutal drops to the tension between taking a shot and simply living for the next down. May’s accountability matters, but we’re focused on whether the patience and situational awareness show up next week.
Then the conversation shifts to what might become an early-season problem: AJ Brown’s high ankle sprain and what it exposes about Patriots depth at wide receiver. We talk Mack Hollins, Romeo Doubs, the roster decisions fans are already second-guessing, plus the defensive bright spots that should have been enough, including the debate over how often Christian Gonzalez should shadow a true No 1. We close with a Week 2 preview and our NFL picks against the spread. Subscribe, share with a fellow Pats fan, and leave a review. What’s your biggest fix for Week 2: playcalling, run game, or Drake’s decision-making?

Welcome Back And Instant Frustration
SPEAKER_00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to MTP Boston. It is football season. I am your host, Michael Marcangelo, and we'll now be joined by my best man and your best man. It's not black, it's not white, it's the gray area, Mr. Zachary Gray. Uh, and we are talking about the New England Patriots upsetting loss to say the least against the Seattle Seahawks. Last Wednesday night, we did we wanted to do this pod last week, but then we realized that neither of us were calmed down enough. Like I'm just gonna speak for you here, Zach. I I wasn't in any way, shape, or form good enough to do uh a show, uh, because I was just so upset with them that I waited all this time. But before we get into everything, how are you? What'd you think of the game?
SPEAKER_01I'm uh I'm calm. I mean, I wasn't uh quite irate as you were, but still annoyed, still pissed and just shaking my head, still wondering, did we learn anything for seven months? Did anything change? But otherwise, I'm okay.
SPEAKER_00Just I put together this nice little intro for for you, but mainly the uh the listening audience at home. Um, and I think it just really encapsulates how I how I felt. Uh the the opening tagline. We waited seven months for that. Seven months after Seattle embarrassed us in the Super Bowl. We got a rematch, new weapons, another year for Drake May, more control of Josh and Josh McDaniel's offense, which we talked about uh with Karen Greegan. You can go back and listen to that. And then really a chance to make a statement. Instead, we got 13 to 10 Patriots losing to a backup quarterback. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that he played at Mizzou. That is a very big uh school here in my uh for my wife's family. So, yes, I've had to deal with the repercussions of that as well. Uh and this wasn't Seattle running New England out of the building. Like the Patriots were up 10-0. Sam Darnold was knocked out five plays in. New England had a chance to at least force overtime in the final minute, and they lost. So before we like actually open it up and just have a multiple choice question for you, and there are wrong answers, Zach. Which bothers you more? A losing. B blowing a 10 uh 10-point lead against Drew Locke. C, Drake May throwing three fourth quarter interceptions, or D, losing AJ Brown.
SPEAKER_01Oh, easily C. Easily without a doubt, C. Uh it's the reason why B happens in the first place. Um is losing AJ Brown to injury something I'm gonna be. I mean, yeah, I'm bothered by it, but it's also football. It's not like he's like, oh, I pulled a hamstring because I'm out of shape. Like that would have pissed me off. Um, but it was an actual football play. And then losing the game, I mean, I expected them to lose. I think all of us on the show expected them to lose as well. So um it's it's gotta be Drake May absolutely, positively,
What Hurts Most About The Loss
SPEAKER_01without a doubt, just the most frustrating, bothersome part of this game for sure.
SPEAKER_00I think A and B though, like because if it was just everything was even and it was still Sam Darnold, like everyone had uh the Patriots losing. I picked the Patriots to cover because the spread was three and a half. I'm like, I feel good about that, but I still think we're gonna lose. Um still cover the spread, by the way. So that's that's great. Congrats on your winnings. Uh thank you. Uh but to blow a 10-point lead and lose the game against a guy that was what 10 and 18 in his career. I think Mizoo, Tiger, like yeah, yay, all that. But he he outplayed Drake May in that game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh, and I think that's a big part of I don't I don't know. I don't know if you want to point it to better coaching. Because I mean it's still it's still pretty early for Drake May. Uh, Drew Locke's been in the league for how long now? Like five, it's been five years, six years? I should yeah. So, I mean, he's had double the NFL experience as Drake May. So I I do think, which is weird to say because that's almost makes him like a veteran quarterback or backup quarterback. Um but I still look at Drew Locke as that rookie or second-year quarterback, just uh cringe worthy rapping on the sideline. Uh but you know, he has some experience, he's back up on a Super Bowl winning team. Uh so I kind of expect him to not make stupid plays. Uh, but it's frustrating to see Drake May on the other side, who has far more talent than Drew Locke does and ever will, but he just doesn't have his head screwed on in these key moments.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I think this is it's a great segue to I think what will be the thing that we talk about the most. And it's, you know, again, seven months. What what the hell happened to Drake May, right? So if you just want to go over the numbers, he finished 23 of 33, 178 yards, one touchdown, three interceptions. That's a completion percentage of just under 70%, which is fine. Pass a rating of 54.9, which is anything uh other than fine. Um, and he also led the Pats with 47 rushing yards on seven carries. So everything like the completion percentage looks fine, but I would say everything else really like tells a story, right? And the fact that we've been talking about I think coming out of the Mac Jones era, who he just made awful plays when he didn't need to make them. And quite frankly, he tried to make throws that he couldn't actually make because he wasn't physically gifted enough. One of the things we've been talking about, Drake May over the last year and a half, two years is he has all the tools, he just doesn't actually make those mistakes. And then the fourth quarter in Seattle happened. Uh did you ever foresee three interceptions in the fourth quarter while winning while leading that game, by the way?
SPEAKER_01No, and and look, like and you bring up Mac like the just a quick thing on the Mac Jones. I think Mac Jones tried to make those plays because he knew that those teams were garbage and he was trying to elevate himself in a way, but he just didn't have the talent. Whereas Drake May most certainly has a talent, but it's just you're not making the right decisions in those moments. Um did I foresee this? Uh no. Uh I was hoping that after that abysmal Super Bowl and having this offseason to kind of reflect that uh there would be some smarter quarterback play from Drake May. Uh clearly we didn't get that. There were moments in the game where he looked poised. He looked like he was making some adjustments at the line, kind of carried himself like a veteran. Um it looked like things were kind of even that final drive, it looked like things were rolling. He was in control of the offense. It felt good and until that pick, and you're like, oh yeah, there he is. There's there's a Drake made that we uh we're we should start getting used to.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I don't I disagree with that because do you know do you know how many games in his NFL career that uh he has multiple interceptions? I'm gonna guess uh two. And it's his last two games. Yes. Yep. So listen, this this is still an anomaly. Uh it's it's not a pattern yet. I would say if he does that against a healthy Steelers defense, and we'll talk about that coming up, then we have a then we have a problem. But you mentioned that he did look poised, he looked like he had the game under control. I would say there was no throw that that articulated that and highlighted it better than when he rolled out to the right and hit Romeo fucking Dobbs in stride to seal the game. Was it third, was it second and 19? Yeah, I think that's what it was. That's right. I mean, that the man with the padded helmet just took his eyes off the ball and I instantly, I mean, I said in our Discord, uh you I'm I'm good with him, you can cut him. I mean, $64 million gone. Poof, I don't care. Bench him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was a uh the the way I'm reacting right now is kind of how I reacted during the game. Just like, all right, cool, great. Like,
Drake May’s Fourth Quarter Meltdown
SPEAKER_01like you just said 64 million for an easy drop ball. Great, sick. K Sean Booty, how are you doing down in Texas? Much better? Great, love that. Yeah, that's embarrassing. I mean, these things do come up in games, they happen. Um not like that, man. Like, especially, especially too after the fact that AJ Brown goes down with an injury. You can't afford to make those mistakes. You just can't. Yeah, uh, you don't have a security blanket and a number one receiver. Uh I don't know if Romeo Dobbs pictures himself as a number one receiver or if he ever did before AJ Brown signed or any point in his career. But you look, even if you're number two, you gotta know that you could be a number one the same way that Drew Law comes in and knows he has to be the number one because Sam Darnold's out.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, he looked he he looked a lot like a number two, if you know what I mean, uh, on this uh on this game. But he's been he's been a co-one with with uh with the Packers for the last three years, with him and Watson. So the my problem with this is, and I know that this is a complete overreaction. However, I'm kind of here for it. Like you let Kayshawn Booty go because you think that you have, you know, all of a sudden now you're like your uh your wide receiver room is just flooded that you can afford, again, to let Kayshawn Booty go, but you keep Pop Douglas, who except for Chad Otrosenko, is the single greatest training camp wide receiver in Patriots history. Like he just looks great. Every year it's like, oh, this is the year he's gonna figure it out. And it turns out it like it, he's he's like an artist with Parkinson's. Like when he puts pens to paper, it just all goes to hell. Like you can't do it in the regular season. So now Drake forces a ball to Romeo Dobbs uh after trying to make up for that uh that other drop pick, telegraphed third and 14 to Pop Douglas pick. They sale turns those two uh interceptions into 10 points, and then the killer, which I'm not mad about the last interception. I'm not. I'm I'm mad that it happened. Listen, I'm mad, I'm mad that it happened. I don't love, I really hated the throw off the back foot. But if you go back to our Discord, right right before that play, I said, you know, I'd really prefer if they played to win this game and not played for overtime. So you know what? He went for it all, and it was terrible, it didn't work. But uh I what I was seeing there was like, oh, just a hand up off the middle where Ramondre Stevenson rushed the ball for like 17 times for 12 yards. So like that wasn't working. You need to throw. What I don't understand is maybe he thought he got enough air under it, but Matt Collins you'd have to make it a jump ball, but not for him to play defense on.
SPEAKER_01But that's just not right situational football. If that was look, if he had made that, if he had made that pick, if he had thrown that pick on first or second down and was further back in field position, a little more time than the clock, fine. I mean, fine in the sense that you're trying to make a play, you're trying to win the game. I get it. It's third down, you're at what, the 13 or 15 yard line and 16. 16 yard line with I believe less than 30 seconds left. 26 seconds left. 26 seconds left. There is no excuse for that play. None. I'm sorry, none. I know you want to win the game. I know you want to have the big moment and seal this win and get the season off to the right start. That is just dumb. That is stupid, that is idiotic. Just I just not a play that even Drew Locke would make on the other side. It's not, it's just when it comes to elite quarterbacking. Yes, you can have a big arm, yes, you can have some mobility, that's fine. But at the end of the day, and we saw it here for 20 plus years, it's all about the smart play, it's about situational awareness, being able to read defenses, and not just relying completely on talent. We saw it for 20 years under Brady. I hate doing the comparisons because it's the greatest of all time, but but this is what separates good quarterbacks from mediocre quarterbacks is having situational awareness to throw the ball out of bounds in that situation. You need to know that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, listen, I'm with you, all that, but you are nitpicking. Again, you're comparing him to the GOAT, but you're also forgetting that for the first four years of Brady's career, he had the top defense in the NFL, or one of the top two defenses in the NFL. We don't have that right now.
SPEAKER_01And they still held they still held Seattle the 13 points.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, sure. But uh Drew Locke. It wasn't again, it wasn't Sam Darnold. It was it was a backup quarterback.
SPEAKER_01I think holding any any off, even if it's a uh crap quarterback, you're still holding the 13 points is still impressive. I mean, and and it's also JS, you also have JSN on the other side, too. So yes, like we can shit on Drew Locke as who went off. Yes, you can you can shit on Drew Locke all all you want, but JSN is still one of the top wide receivers in the NFL.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, we've seen uh terrible quarterbacks be made to look mediocre by great wide receivers for the entirety of our lives. Like that just that happens. I'm not worried about that. Like I I'm mad that they lost the game because the way that they lost the game. I'm not as mad as I would have been or should have been at that game ceiling interception. And it made me feel better that in his post-game presser, May just instantly took accountability for it. He said, I lost patience, it cost us, it's unacceptable, and I make a vow to never do that again. So now I'm now I'm also kind of here for the for the revenge tour.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I'm I'm also here to to see when he loses patience yet again. Oh, I won't do it again. Okay, yeah, I'll I'll believe it when I see it.
SPEAKER_00Do you think like is is what we saw just the price that you will occasionally pay for having a quarterback capable of making ridiculous plays? Or or should May have understanded that that Seattle like couldn't score and simply stop trying to win the game himself?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I think you can afford to try to make plays like that when you're Patrick Mahomes and you have a history of making ridiculous plays and winning championships. You get you like get that um what's the word I'm looking for? Uh swag. Swag. No, well, no. You're afforded that uh that benefit, I guess, to screw up because you've made it those plays before. Uh Drake May has some great plays so far in his young career, uh, but he's not he doesn't have a highlight reel like a Patrick Mahomes does, to be able to say, yeah, I'm gonna try to force the ball into the end zone and win this game now rather than playing for overtime. He doesn't have that. He's he's young, he's not exactly proven yet. Uh so no, I I don't the whole losing patience thing, too. I'm glad he admitted it. Like taking accountability is great, don't get me wrong. But I would like my quarterback to be a little patient. You're the leader of the offense, you're kind of the leader of the team as well. So you should have a little patience to to break down a situation and know, yeah, I'm not gonna try the force this into and it's also Matt Collins. That's another thing we need to like look at. If that was AJ Brown, who was still healthy in the game in that situation, I might give a little leeway, but it was Matt Collins who is great. I love I love Matt Collins. I don't want to this is not the shit on Matt Collins at all because he's been solid, he's great, but but it's not AJ Brown,
Drops And Receiver Trust Falling Apart
SPEAKER_01plain and simple, right?
SPEAKER_00Because he was still on the field.
SPEAKER_01Um I'm saying if I'm my point again, if AJ Brown was on the field and that play happened, I kind of get that more, but he wasn't, and it's just not the situation.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of AJ Brown, uh this the injury, in my opinion, changed the conversation from just like a bad week one to an actual early season problem. Uh AJ suffered a high ankle sprain, and he'll miss at least week two against Pittsburgh, week three against Jacksonville, four against Buffalo, five against uh Las Vegas. Um before the injury, he has three catches for 26 yards. It he didn't he didn't look super comfortable, but it you know, I would imagine that it would take a little while to get his chemistry up. Who based on what you saw, dude? Who who steps in and replaces his production? Uh no one.
SPEAKER_01Um but great. Well, that's all, folks. We'll talk to you next week. Uh I mean, clearly Mac Hollins is the go-to guy. Uh it's he he's been productive, he's solid. Um, I mean, obviously he's not this isn't about uh run block protection, but he's also fantastic in run block as well. So um, yeah, I mean it's it's gonna be Mac Hollins. It should be Romeo Dobbs, it should be. Um but it's not, and also it's sure as shit not gonna be Kyle Williams because he didn't play a single offensive snap in that game. Um so that's kind of where we're we're left at. Uh in terms of like kind of getting his comfortability going before. I mean, it sucks, but that's kind of what happens when you don't play in three preseason games, right?
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah. Listen, I mean now you have a guy that's coming off of a high ankle sprain, which is an injury that lingers, that who also has a degenerative knee. And is it was the ankle the same leg as the knee? I don't was I don't know. You know what probably? Um, I do, you know, not to lean into the self-promotion. Um, if you go back and you listen to uh to our conversation with Cameron Garigan from Mass Live, uh, you can find that in the show notes. She mentioned that the Patriots are a top-heavy team. The first 22 can go with anybody. And I flat out asked her, what's their biggest liability? And she said, if AJ Brown goes down. Now I don't know. What do you know? In the first game. Um but you know, it we kind of know who to talk to to get the right answers around here. And and and she was right. And I asked her this, and you and I kind of screwed it around it, but did the Patriots screw up trading Kaisan Booty?
SPEAKER_01Can we have her back on and say some like positive shit about the Patriots? Like, hey, like she she did. Every year she's her job is to talk me off of the ledge. Or or better yet, like just not talk about any injury stuff. That'd be that'd be better. Just make sure she doesn't talk about any injuries. That'd be great. Just say, yeah, everyone's gonna be healthy. Perfect.
SPEAKER_00Um well, she did say that. She said if everybody's healthy, this this is this could be a 14-win team.
SPEAKER_01She should have just kept it at that. Just not not include the uh AJ Brown part. Right. It's fine. Uh, yes, very top heavy. Uh and getting rid of Kayshawn Booty. Great choice by this team. Great, great job. Uh and it's not it's not like it's I mean, even look at um excuse me.
SPEAKER_00It's not even when you mute yourself and you do something and you come back, you don't need to tell us what you did because we didn't hear you. Excellent, love that. Great.
SPEAKER_01Um I'm I know I'm comparing like a prolific offense to this one, but I'm obviously keeping it in keeping in the scope of uh New
AJ Brown Injury Turns It Serious
SPEAKER_01England Patriots history. Did we ever think in 2007 that the wide receiver room was too crowded? And I know Wes Welker was kind of a nobody with the uh with the Dolphins and uh the rest of the receivers were kind of lower tier, but I don't think anyone ever said, like, oh, too many receivers. I think I think we need to get rid of some here. And I would argue that's well, I don't think anyone's thinking that heading into the first game of this season, that oh now we have too many receivers. It may have been, hey, how are we gonna get more touches to this guy? Or will this create more opportunities for Kayshawn Booty or what have you? Or even Matt Collins was being talked about as a fringe guy. Uh, but I don't think anyone was expecting them to get rid of get rid of a wide receiver. And never mind, never mind, trade one away and then the guy in return doesn't play.
SPEAKER_00Well, he played two uh he played two snaps, and oh great. They were special teams. Excellent. I agree with the overall premise of the question that you're asking or the comparison that you're making. But I would just say that if Bill, not that he would have, but had he uh traded a first rounder for Randy Moss and paid him top dollar, the Bill probably would have cut another wide receiver. Like that just probably would have happened. But we got Randy Moss for pennies on the dollar, nobody knew who West Walker was. Dante Stalworth was a flyer. And yeah, there's there's your offense. I mean, I I again I I agree with you, but this team, I mean, what whatever happened to Chisholm, we heard all again, he had a great training camp. I I'm just I I'm sick of having great training camp wide receivers. I would love. But I would love to have better regular season wide receivers, but I think aside from the K-Shawn Booty thing, I I don't know why you couldn't have kept Stefan Diggs instead of Romeo Dobbs and and went out and still got AJ Brown. That was the thing I was thinking about the entire time. It was like AJ goes down. Man, I wish he still had I wish Drake still had Stefan Diggs to throw to.
SPEAKER_01Do you I mean Dobbs is a much younger receiver, right? Um so I I guess in that sense you're you're figuring it you get some more expensive, much more expensive, too. Sure, but you're also getting a much much more youthful receiver that you figure is still gonna be developing into whatever prime it's gonna be. Um whereas Steph Diggs gave you a great year, but how many more great years does he have like that left in his career? Um to be determined, I suppose. Um I definitely didn't think about Steph Diggs. I thought more about Kayshawn Booty for sure. Um, but in that moment I wasn't thinking about Steph Diggs at all. No. I was well I guess that's where I guess that's where we uh differentiate there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh now here's just a break from the negativity because we are gonna get back to it. Um the part that everyone is ignoring besides you, because you brought it up a couple times so far, is that New England only allowed 13 points. That should be enough to win every week. Uh Sam Darnold leaves the game almost immediately, but the Patriots still, you know, they they played pretty well defensively. Um Friend of the show, Karen Green highlighted Draymond Jones. Like he was really good off the edge. Um Gonzo had two pass breakups while he was matched up with JSN. Um but the here we are back to negativity. The thing that really pisses me off about this game plan is that JSN finishes with eight catches, 122 yards and a touchdown, but Gonzo was not shadowing him throughout the entire game. So why do you pay why do you why do you make the statement to make Gonzalez the highest paid corner in the history of the NFL? Which I believe you know he should be. Uh why doesn't he you he is your number one and you just put him on everyone else's number one,
Defense Deserves Credit Then Gonzo Debate
SPEAKER_00and that's it. That's all you do.
SPEAKER_01Well, I would and I I wish I I did this prior to the show, is me too. I would well, I would try to compare the his numbers to say like Patrick Sertain, like is he on the number one wide receiver every snap when in you know big games? Are uh are any of the other elite uh cornerbacks on the number one receiver every single snap? Probably not. I would say that you have different packages and you have different plays for defense. I I know I think people kind of generalize defensive game planning in terms of you know, it's a lot of people think it's a lot of just man-to-man, and you know, you have your number one uh corner, and he's gonna go against the number one uh wide receiver. But you know, obviously zone coverages change things. If you have a blitz package, which uh ended up being the case on that touchdown, it was a blitz, a run blitz play that was called, uh, and hence why uh it was kind of a busted play there, uh busted coverage on the defense. Um so yeah, I think in a perfect world, yes, I want to see the top paid corner on the number one wide receiver every time, sure. But I also don't want to do that at the risk of whether it's another, you know, a certain spot in the zone, uh certain zone coverage being blown up every time, or your somehow uh play action is getting screwed up. I don't know. Listen, I'm not a defensive coordinator, so I'm not gonna spew too many words that I'm gonna act like I know what I'm talking about, but all I do know is there are different game plans for the defense. And if he's not on JSN the entire time, then that's fine.
SPEAKER_00There can still be plans for the defense. Here's what I would suggest if you pay a guy the most money in the history of the league at his position, then your defensive scheme, now in terms of your blitz packages and your coverage packages, all that, instead of focusing on how to do that for 11 players, you just do it for you do it for 10 because that other one guy is gonna be on their number one guy every single time. That was the difference between uh for me where I always thought that Jarrell Reeves was a better corner than Richard Sherman. I think Richard Sherman was a top five corner in the league, but he was his own corner and he did not he did not move. He always stayed on one side of the field. Revis followed everybody, and like that's the difference. And I I'm not saying that uh Gonzo could be Revis. I hope he is. You sure as hell paid him like you think he could be, but let the guy stay on their number one the entire time. This guy has shut down Tyree Kill before, you know, when he still had a knee, and every other number one wide receiver that he's come against, and he's young, like that's just that's my thing.
SPEAKER_01Sure. I but you also pay top dollar for quarterbacks and they don't throw the ball every time. They do hand it off, too. Um and for the point of Revis, and for the segue that is for the well, and also for the for the uh for the point of Revis, too. I know he was later in his career when he joined the Patriots, but towards the end of that season, they were putting Revis on the number two, and then they had Brown earn another corner or safety covering the number one receiver. So I think there are ways to adjust, and that's why you scheme different plans, uh whatever's most effective.
SPEAKER_00I'm not talking about Revis with the Patriots because Bill's thing was if you have a number one corner, you always put the number one corner on on their number two option, and then you double. Yeah, that's the which is yeah, it's I would say it's a genius, sure. Uh it is better when your number one corner is Darrell Revis or Akeeb Talib. Uh, and it's not uh who's the guy that punched the ball out of the uh out of the Ravens? Moore, uh
Run Game Concerns And RB Argument
SPEAKER_00Sterling Moore. I think it was your number one. Yeah, that's not that's not a good look. But you did mention uh quarterbacks get paid a lot of money and they don't always throw the ball. Sometimes they hand it off. So uh the other red flag that I would want to bring up about the Patriots is can they run the ball at all? Uh because Drake May being our leading rusher should not be the plan. Seven carries, 47 yards, almost averaging seven yards a carry. Ramandre Stevenson averaged 2.8 yards a carry. And they could not figure out how to run the ball in the first half. And I think one of the takeaways for me watching this game, I I I I would love to hear your opinion on this, is I thought the offensive line was better. Like I actually did not have a problem with the offensive line. And so normally when you're like, okay, if the line's good, it means that they can run the ball. Turns out the line was better, but they couldn't run the ball at all. So what what are what are they doing? Why can't they run the ball? Or is it just a was it just because Seattle is that good? Which they are, they're some real champions.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I think we do need to give Seattle some credit here. Uh, yes, they had some injuries on on defense. Um not 100% the same Seattle defense they face in the Super Bowl. Um, but it's still very good. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very good Seattle defense. Look, this is what happens when you don't have Trevion Henderson as your safety net behind Ramondre Stevenson. Uh Ramon love Ramange. Uh I I enjoy having him as a running back, but look, he he's not Kenneth Walker, as we saw on Monday Night Football, that Kenneth Walker is a game changer on his own, despite no matter what your offensive line looks like. Um no matter how good, how bad, whatever it may be. But uh Ramanj Stevenson is not a game-changing running back. Uh he's had flashes of good moments, and neither is Trevion Henderson a game-changing uh running back. He's had big runs. He had those big runs against Tampa last year. Cute, great, awesome. But it's not they're they're gonna say game changing, but go ahead. Sure. But it's not exactly no, but it's not someone that my my bigger point is neither of those guys are the type of running back that defensive coordinators are like, okay, we need to like shut this guy down. We need to game plan against this running back. Defensive coordinators have to do that for Kenneth Walker, and that's why he won Super Bowl MVP. Uh like a uh who else?
SPEAKER_00But he's also like he's also he's also a platoon running back that they made sure to mention that 15 times in the covers last night. Like, so you're your home run hitter, I think you're smoking fucking crack if you don't think that people need to game plan for Trevion Henderson. Now, I'm not saying he's gonna hit be handed the ball 30 times in a game, but if he gets the ball 15 times, uh like handed the ball, and you also throw to him, like you throw the ball to him five or six more. He that's an explosive game. Like he has the ability to have to turn a two-yard gain into a 65-yard touchdown run, which he did twice last year while Ramanji was hurt. Right. And that was with what, like, an open field. No, it's behind the line of scrimmage, dude.
SPEAKER_01You watch these games or what? Right? Here and there, I guess, I suppose. Um I don't know, man. It's just not I don't, I don't think uh I don't I just don't look at Trevion Henderson the same light as like a Derrick Henry or Saquon or any of these other elite running backs.
SPEAKER_00Because Derek Henry could eat Trevion Henderson, like it's it's different, he's built differently than that. I think the comp should be Trevion Henderson, if everything goes well, could be DeAndre Swift. And I'm happy with that. And would you call DeAndre Swift an explosive game-changing running back? No, I would. Of course you wouldn't. You're an idiot.
SPEAKER_01All right, uh, but again, my my point being, I think people are looking more at the the Patriots offense, and they're more. I love how just mad. I love how mad I'm getting even this. Um I again, I just having two, and that's why it's so important to have the two running backs, right? Like most other most of the other other teams having these big name quarterback or running backs and have you know a third down back or what have you just to give the their starting running back a rest. It's not like not like we have that here. These this is a tandem running back situation, which is fine. I'm fine with that, but it just doesn't seem it doesn't seem like it's gonna work. That's just my opinion.
SPEAKER_00Hey, just want to point out that Kenneth Walker was not the was not the lead rusher for Seattle last season. He wasn't. Yes, he and and Kenneth Walker had a great playoffs, Super Bowl MVP. I get that. He will be he will be better served if he is platooned. And usually when you're platoon, it means you're part of a fucking duo. So you're penalizing the the way that you view uh Trevion and Ramondre. But everyone else does that. I mean, besides Derek Henry. I would I'll I'll give you Derek Henry has not platoon anybody. Uh Saquon. Okay, Derek Henry and Saquon. Yeah. How many Super Bowls have they won? Just the one?
SPEAKER_01Uh just one, yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just the one.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Uh, but like I would I I have no vested interest in that, Mike. You don't have to talk down to the biggest thing.
SPEAKER_00Winning Super Bowls, that's good. It's good to know. Um I'm on the team. So
Josh McDaniels And Offensive Identity
SPEAKER_00well, we're we're all on the team here. Is there anything else that you that we did not talk about from week one or from that game against the Seahawks that you want to mention before we move to Pittsburgh?
SPEAKER_01Um how'd you feel about this? Is a bigger big thing. I I don't know if either people are complaining about it online. Josh McDaniel, and this I feel like people complain, Boston fans complain about Josh McDaniels for the past 25 years. And I just think it's the most annoying thing ever. They just they either complain about him or the refs. Just the two things people complain about the most when a game doesn't go right. And I didn't have a problem with his his game planning and the calls. I understand maybe they they thought that they are running the ball or handing the ball off too much, but I think they also kind of respected the Seattle defense. And I don't know if it's a reflection on how they think Drake Bay is at the right now in terms of his development. Um, but what were your thoughts on on uh McDaniel's offensive uh game planning?
SPEAKER_00So the problem that I have with this is I don't know how much of what we saw on the field was the play that was called or audibles that were made by Drake at the lion. Because my gut is the first 25 plays, Josh wouldn't just do screens and dink and dunks. He would do a couple of try in deep shots. And if you look back at the the first, you know, the opening script, there were no deep shots. Uh and I can't imagine that that that's that that's what he drew up. I could be wrong. I've been wrong many times, and I will continue to be wrong. Uh I I thought it I I thought he did fine. He didn't blow me away with the way he called the game. Um which uh I think if you go back to the most recent 10 games against really good defenses, you'd probably find that he's not or it maybe he is, but in the last 10 games, I have not I've not been like, oh well, that's why you have Josh McDaniels for that innovative play, for that innovative scheme. It just kind of feels like this is the same old Patriots offense. Yep. Am I wrong?
SPEAKER_01No, no, it it feels pretty standard, and I I think it just comes back to Drake Nut forcing balls and dumb interceptions. Um, because if it works out, then everyone's happy, and I don't think anyone complains about how the offense went. But I just think they lose, I think they just lose sight when shit goes wrong and they just blame him every time, and it's just the most annoying narrative ever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, I'm probably gonna do that a couple times this year, so just be on the be on the lookout for that. But uh we'd all be in a much better place if that interception at the end of the game didn't happen and the Patriots lost because uh we, you know, Borgallus missed the kick. We we we could complain about that, but that's not what happened. Drake is the reason we lost that game. A thousand percent. I do I like I said, I do love that he owned it, which then brings us to week two. Uh it's a home opener at Let Stadium uh Sunday at 1 p.m. I I I truly hate Aaron Rodgers. I don't think you understand the level of hate as a human being I have for him. Uh so I'm gonna try really hard not to talk a lot about that, but I think the the biggest storyline in this game is how does Drake respond, right? Like
Week Two Test And Drake’s Response
SPEAKER_00to your point that you've kind of hammered home, the stats won't really matter in this game for you, right? It's just about decision making. That's the most important thing for you.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00So would you prefer that he takes ease completion, like the easy completion and live to fight another down, or if if if if the home run play is is there, do you want him to take it?
SPEAKER_01Um not necessarily. I mean, if it's there and it looks like a good matchup, whatever, sure. Um but I I'd rather the quarterback play smart than you know, try to do something that you know for force the issue. Um I read a stat from the Monday night game that Patrick Mahomes, the furthest air yards he threw in that game was six yards. Um he threw no deep balls. So six yards in the air was the furthest completed, yeah, completed the furthest completed pass was was uh six air yards. Um and you know they they took care of business. So I I would rather I don't does is it sexy to have you know the check down and you know dink and dunk and screenplays? No. But if it's gonna win you football games, I think that's what matters more than anything else. And if it's especially gonna prevent turnovers, then by please God, just please don't turn the ball over, please.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I do think that we he has the God-given talent and ability to he can overcome one turnover. You can't you can't overcome three turnovers in the fourth quarter. No, you can't very few people can. Um so without AJ Brown, who becomes number one, the one number one wideout? Is this the game that you think like in how do I phrase this? Is this going to be the opposite of what we would have seen under Bill, where if Romeo Dobbs did that and Bill Belisek was the head coach, we would not see Romeo Dobbs for four weeks. K Sean Booty dropped a pass in week one three years ago, and he literally benched him for like six weeks. So do we do that? Not bench him, but downplay him, or do you think that this is a game where we could actually see them feed Romeo Dobbs?
SPEAKER_01No, they're gonna they're gonna feed him. I mean, I think Mike Vrabel is ready to give Drake a kiss and hug after he threw that third interception to make sure he he knew they still loved him. Uh it's a completely different coaching style. Uh it's nice that he was coached under Bill, but he's not Bill. He's not. He won't do that. Never has, never will. Uh doesn't feel like he'll get no. I I don't there's just no way. And plus, like they just can't afford to do that. They can't afford to do it now. Uh if they had boot if they had Kishan Booty or if they, to your point, brought back Stefan Diggs, you could afford to bench a guy.
SPEAKER_00But right now, no, you can't afford to do that. So do do we so you think they're gonna they're gonna focus on earth feed Dobbs as opposed to leaning into what they were what they were building with Matt Collins? Do we still Kyle Williams?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean I I don't think it's gonna be an emphasis of hey, let's make sure we get him touches. No, maybe if uh if we're up by two or three scores heading into the fourth, sure. Yeah, hey, let's let's get Romeo as touches so he feels a little better. But I don't think that's gonna be, hey, let's make a game plan based on the fact that we want to feed Romeo Dobbs the ball so we can help him feel better going the rest of the season. No, they're gonna do a game plan based on what's most likely gonna win the game.
SPEAKER_00So this is a rematch of the game last year where I believe uh did the Patriots turn the ball over five times? I guess they did.
SPEAKER_01The Sailors did. Oh, it was a great that was one that really made me want to rip my hair out. Oh yeah. Four fumbles, right? Yep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. Um God, I just I just hate Aaron Rodgers. I hope that I don't I you know I don't want him to get hurt, but I hope that they hope that you wouldn't hate it though. I hope that they well, not I'm not putting that out in the universe, but I I hope they embarrass him.
SPEAKER_01You made a Parkinson's joke earlier in the show. You can say that you wouldn't be mad about him getting hurt.
SPEAKER_00Well, uh there was an artist that had Parkinson's. That you know, like that those are things that already happened. I didn't I wasn't wishing that into the universe into existence, but I'm not trying to defend that. Um based on what we just talked about I I guess I kind of know what you think, but wouldn't you wouldn't you just put Gonzo on DK the entire time? Or would you actually like move him around between him and Pittman?
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, I mean I don't know what Aaron Rodgers' numbers look like against uh in week one in terms of uh targets. Um I do feel like I could be wrong because I I I only watch so many Aaron Rodgers games, uh especially being uh Central Time and all that, but um I don't need No Central Time uh no saying when he was in uh Lambeau, but that's irrelevant. More for the I I guess more for the fact that like watching more Patriots games than just watching Aaron Rodgers games. That probably one of the dumbest things I've said on this show, and it won't be the last.
SPEAKER_00Actually, it almost it almost broke me. I didn't know I didn't know what you were talking about.
SPEAKER_01But all right. I'm not a Packers fan, and I am not a Steelers fan, thus I'm not religiously following Aaron Rodgers. He was never on my fantasy team, so there you are. Anywho, okay. I don't know exactly like if he loves to target DK Metcalf or is like number historically his number one wide receivers.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he he threw he threw to him ten times last week and he caught four four of the balls.
SPEAKER_01So that would lead me to believe that he's gonna. So in that case, then yeah, I would I would probably in this certain game plan, yeah. If that's if you have a quarterback who's gonna be targeting his number one wide wide receiver, especially if he's an aging quarterback who's an a-hole, then yeah, that's probably your game plan. Um I also just hate him. I know, I know you do. I I just think this is such a big game for Drake, just in terms of if he looks bad and makes dumb decisions, and old ass Aaron Rodgers looks really good, that's that's bad. I think that might be worse than getting outplayed by Drew Locke. Uh I know Aaron Rodgers isn't is a future Hall of Famer. I understand he is immensely talented. I get that. But he's also, despite that, he still is washed in a sense. And Drake May, with his talent, should outplay Aaron Rodgers in this game. Should.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Um so it man, if Drake lays an egg or has multiple turnovers like he did last year, and the Patriots follow Owen too, that's not gonna be good. And there's gonna be all help being raised by Patriots fans.
SPEAKER_00Uh me included. So it it's leading us to this point. Uh how much pressure is already on the on the Patriots? Like, is is week two already a must-win game?
SPEAKER_01Oh, absolutely. I mean, technically not, sure, but it is. It's it's a must-win. Uh you have this Jacksonville who uh steamrolled over Cleveland, which is not really hard to do. Uh Buffalo, and then is it Vegas after that, right?
Must Win Pressure And Season Spiral Talk
SPEAKER_01Um so I mean you you have to get off to you have to get off to a good start here. I mean, they they showed some promise week one, but man, if you go 0-2 and then go into that stretch, it's not gonna be good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, again, I agree with you. I just don't fear Jacksonville. And I just uh and I could be coming to this you know conclusion for no reason, but I just I just think we're gonna split with Buffalo. We have like literally the last four years, uh three years.
SPEAKER_01So but yes, I but it it's more I mean split whatever it could be. This game could be the next one, but just more the fact that if you start 0-2 and then you have these stretch of games coming up against playoff teams and a divisional opponent as well. That's not that's not a good start for your team, and it's also probably not a good start for uh, or rather, it won't be a great return for AJ Brown to say he leaves. And maybe maybe he comes back to an 0-4, 0-5 team and says, Hey, I'm gonna, I'm gonna bring you guys back. Like, let me let me fix this team. Maybe it's good in that sense, but you also I think any player, or even like in a even if you want to compare it to the workplace, you go back to uh you go back to work and you just see it's a shit show. Do you really feel like you want to go back to that, or do you actually feel motivated to turn things around? I don't know. But regardless, it's just not a great environment to come back to.
SPEAKER_00Listen, if they go 0-3, you better believe the you know what conversation is gonna start coming back into the forefront, and then it's gonna be it's gonna be just dirty Diana for months and months. Um, so this is a must-win. I think it has been drilled into our heads as Patriot fans that were born in the late 80s, early 90s. Um that September is just a wash. Like if you can walk away September two and two, like you're gonna be fine. Uh football with the season really starts right around the second week of October through December. Uh but I think you you have to walk into that Buffalo game with one to two wins. Like you have to.
SPEAKER_01Um Yeah, and and it's not to say that the season's over if they start. No, even oh and three.
SPEAKER_00Um the noise, but the noise gets louder, and then it's it's gonna be, you know, I think it's harder for people to to ignore the stupid shit that will be said by people like me, and I will say it very loudly. Like, don't give me that opportunity.
SPEAKER_01No, it's and it's uh and it's whether or not this team, I'm sure I'm sure Variable will be able to kind of keep the keep the locker room in check or keep their you know their heads focused, even if there's all that noise. But it's hard to ignore, it's hard not, it's hard to avoid, and it's uh it is something that builds up that could you know you could turn it around and build back, or it could become really ugly. It's it's still an option to become very, very ugly. Um and you know, like you said, September doesn't define the season. There's been plenty of teams. I I always think about uh the 09 Broncos because Josh McDaniels comes to mind, goes there, starts 6-0, finishes 8-8.
SPEAKER_00Like and everyone's all pumped up 2014 Patriots for 2-2, and we we finished uh 12-4 and won the Super Bowl that year.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I mean so it could go it could go either way. Um, but you just don't want to get into you just never want to get into those positions, especially Super Bowl, you know, year after losing the Super Bowl up and coming quarterback. Uh I don't know. Just don't want it to uh don't want it to carry over.
SPEAKER_00If the Patriots beat the bag out of Pittsburgh, does that basically erase the Seattle loss from your memory?
SPEAKER_01Only if Drake doesn't throw three interceptions.
SPEAKER_00Or even let's say he let's say he throws five touchdowns and he has the perfect passer rating. He goes 25 of 35, five touchdowns, 300 yards. And then you know the final score of this game is like 42 to 10.
SPEAKER_01So no interceptions.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no interceptions.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, then then it's definitely I I would say so, especially the fact that he didn't play a single preseason game. I think it's I think that's really the the biggest thing here is the fact that he didn't get any preseason action at all to not that you're gonna have a uh you know a game-winning drive situation in the middle of a the second quarter because those the starters don't play the second half, but to at least get real game action and be able to you know see stuff that's not simulated um at training camp in practice. Uh so I would kind of just look at if he goes and lights it up against Pittsburgh, I would kind of look at that game against Seattle as like his preseason.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, listen, I think it's it's gonna be tough to uh to wash away the uh opening loss because you had to wait so long uh for that game and you lose to a backup. But if you can beat the ayahuasca out of a 42-year-old closeted, science-denying, horrible human being who happens to be dating the twin sister of Manteo's ex-girlfriend, then I think it makes it better for you. So let's just go to the week a week two schedule. Uh we can we can do the predictions. You can bet uh whether you
NFL Week Two Picks And Best Bets
SPEAKER_00or you can tell me who you think's gonna win or who you who you're gonna pick to win and cover the spread is completely up to you. I'm gonna give you all the options. Um so the week starts. Thursday night football, Detroit at Buffalo. Buffalo opens their new stadium. Buffalo is a four and a half point favorite. Who do you take in this game?
SPEAKER_01Uh I am gonna go with Detroit.
SPEAKER_00I think you're just doing this to irritate me because I don't know how you watched that game that they played against the Saints that they needed overtime, and they needed the Saints to go for it instead of tie the game with one minute left, and you think, you know what, that that's the team that has what it takes to travel to Buffalo and beat Josh Allen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I I mean but you know, fuck it. Why not? Well, that that's one part of it. But also, um I don't know, like yes, the Texans have a great defense, but no, they showed some holes there. There so showed some uh potential weak squats with uh the Texans, so I feel like it could go either way. So the Saints put up the Saints put up 34 points on the least on the Lions defense. I'm saying at least to cover the spread. How about that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Uh that better? So you no what I'm asking. So do you think that you think that the Lions are gonna lose by less than four and a half points?
SPEAKER_01Are we really doing the prediction show again? You wish you'd go go through the numbers and you're gonna break me on this.
SPEAKER_00I'm giving you the odds presented to you by your former employee here. So I just want to know like, do you just want to pick the winner and loser, or do you want to pick the winner and loser with points? I'll just I'll do points, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah. Uh yeah, I think I think there's a chance Buffalo could slip up, but ultimately Buffalo should win, and maybe they win by a field goal.
SPEAKER_00Okay, love that. Um by the way, that that would that would not be them covering the spread.
SPEAKER_01So uh I'm saying Detroit would cover the spread.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah. I'm with you. Thank you. Uh Carolina at Atlanta. Carolina had a I mean, uh uh they put up 37 points in a defeat. They lost 37, they lost 59 to 37 against the Chicago Bears. Atlanta, you know, Marty McFly's uh uh stunner, uh Michael Penix is not could not even uh make the field on week one, neither their quarterbacks too. Uh, could it was Cooper Rush? So Carolina at Atlanta. Carolina is only favored by two and a half points.
SPEAKER_01Uh Carolina and the points. Um I think Chicago, I really wanted Caleb Williams in my uh fantasy leagues. Uh I think their offense is gonna be absolute. I mean, yes, it's only one game with 59 points against the Panthers, but I do think Chicago's offense is gonna go off this year. So glad uh DK's not on the show to just like just gloat in what I just said.
SPEAKER_00So oh, if you if you're looking for an hour-long glazing episode, just wait until wait, just wait until uh the power ranking show comes out with uh DK and Matt. That's gonna be it's gonna be wild. Uh we got Minnesota at the Chicago Bears. Uh Minnesota had a great comeback win. Um however, it's still Carson Wentz or Kyler Murray. And in my opinion, uh five and a half points for Chicago is not enough. Give me Chicago to the moon on this one. Yes, same.
SPEAKER_01Uh as you remember in our prediction show, I uh I had the Vikings going one and seventeen. You went against that, so or one in sixteen rather. So I think this is the start of their 16th straight losses. So there you go, Chicago and the points.
SPEAKER_00Philly at Tennessee. Tennessee is a seven-point road favorite uh Philadelphia is a seven-point road favorite. Um, so I mean, I this is one of those games because Philly always has these early in the year where they're like, are they really that that good? I think Philly's gonna win, but I do think at one point in time in the fourth quarter it's going to be less than seven points. But I do think Philly will cover.
SPEAKER_01Uh even though Tennessee just lost to the Jets.
SPEAKER_00Was that a sentence or you asked me a question? Sure. Yeah, yeah. Phil Philly loves uh loves having these little these little fuck-ups. They they they when they're doing well, they beat teams that you think they're gonna struggle against by a lot, and they barely beat teams that that they should floor. And this feels like a situation where it should be Philly by 30. Yeah, well, I would go 30 Philly by 30 then. Okay. Uh Steelers at Patriots. Patriots are five and a half point favorites. I'm gonna give me the pads and the points.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, it ultimately it does feel like a a bounce back game for them. Um maybe by a touchdown. I hope it's by a million points, but uh like 20 to like uh like 30 to 20 or like 30 to 21 would be like the final score.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And why do I hope that they do that? Because again, Rogers. Yeah. Green Bay at the Jets. The Packers are a four and a half point favorite coming off that awful loss against Carson Wentz and the Minnesota Vikings. Um I think I think Green Bay will probably smoke the Jets.
SPEAKER_01They should. Uh yeah, I think it's the Jets Jets probably get a little too confident after beating a terrible Tennessee team as well. So the Packers should smoke the Jets.
SPEAKER_00Cleveland at Tampa. Tampa's uh eight and a half point favorite. Should be more well, yeah. Um yeah, give me give me Tampa and the points. Dude, let's just Cleveland is bad.
SPEAKER_01They're bad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's there's no ending to make that happy. Um we'll we'll go with the Saints at the Ravens. Saints again coming off a hard-fought loss against the Detroit Lions. Baltimore's eight and a half point favorite. I think Baltimore's gonna win the game, but I'll take I'll take New Orleans with the points.
SPEAKER_01Uh no, I would say probably Baltimore with the points. Uh probably more stupid decisions going on through the through the game for the Saints and just Derrick Henry just shoving it down the throat.
SPEAKER_00Cincinnati at Houston. Houston's two two and a half-point favorites. Uh Cincinnati is usually terrible at the beginning of the season, so the fact they start 1-0 is really good. Um, I think this this is unfortunate for Houston because I do feel good about their team. I thought CJ Stroud played a better game than the last time we saw him in Foxboro. He made a couple of mistakes. Uh, but to go up against two high-powered offenses like this is it's gonna put that defense again to a test. Give me Cincy. Houston's favored by two and a half. Give me Cincy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was. I mean, I picked against Cincinnati last week just based on the fact that they just never win in week one. Uh, so I was shocked that they even won the game. Um, yeah, I think I'm with you. I think Cincy might be building something here. Your uh MVP pick, you're also your pick for the coach get fired as well. So let's uh you know let's go all in on Zach Taylor doing a great year and then getting fired somehow.
SPEAKER_00Well, I was hedging, but yeah, I'm I'm gonna be wrong in one of those situations. Uh Jaguars at Denver. Denver's a three-point favorite. I find myself always not believing in Jacksonville. I never think that they're gonna do well, and I'm usually proven right once they get to the playoffs, and Trevor Lawrence becomes Trevor Lawrence. However, I didn't see I thought that that Kansas City was there for the picking for Denver, and they just could not capitalize on it. So, you know what? Give me Jacksonville to upset the Broncos, and Denver goes 0-2.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, game-winning field goal, like 75 yards is at another record because it's in Denver. Um, I think that might be the most exciting part of this game.
SPEAKER_00Uh, Vegas at the Chargers. Uh, I think Justin Herbert's trash, so give me Vegas.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the over-under in this game's 43 and a half as well. I'm trying to see other games. I mean, there's other games with much lower totals, which Philadelphia is, I think, might have the lowest one, 39 and a half there. Uh this just might be the toilet bowl game of the week. This game might be just absolutely terrible. Uh, you took chargers and points or no, I took Vegas outright. Outright.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I could see it. Yeah. Listen, I just hate Justin Herbert. I think he's just he's such a fraud. Like he's just softer than baby shit. We've we've seen this all. Um all right. So I think my pick game of the week, uh, Commanders at the Cowboys. It's always a fun game. Um, I'm a big Jaden Daniels guy, so give me Washington because Dallas is a four and a half point favorite.
SPEAKER_01Division matchup always tough. I feel like the commanders always give the Cowboys some sort of trouble every year. Um, them to cover at least. I'm not confident that pick them the win, but to at least cover for sure.
SPEAKER_00Seattle and Arizona, 425 in Fox. This feels like it could be a trap game. However, it's a divisional game, so give me Seattle. They're three and a half point favorites on the road. No, it should be 33.5 point favorites. Arizona's terrible.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Dolphins at San Francisco. This is just ridiculous. San Francisco's the 13.5 point favorite. And I think I'm still gonna pick them and the points.
SPEAKER_01Uh that's such a high line, but yeah, it's that feels like such a trap. It really does.
SPEAKER_00I know. But it's Miami's, I mean, Miami sucks, dude.
SPEAKER_01I know they're bad, but 13 and a half feels like a trap. I'd probably take Miami's points, not to win, just probably points.
SPEAKER_00Uh, we have uh Sunday night football. The Colts uh traveled to Arrowhead, another Sun, another primetime game for Mahomes and the crew. Uh Kansas City's six and a half point favorites. I think that that's fair. I would say yeah, give me give me KC.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think so. I'm sure they'll miss a few uh Kelsey holds as well to uh help them get the touchdowns and wins.
SPEAKER_00So unfortunately for the New York Giants, who had uh a great win on Sunday Night Football, they have to play against against the Los Angeles Rams, who were utterly embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers out down under. So, I mean, the Rams are seven-point favorites. I think the Rams are gonna blow the doors off the Giants. And I really like the Giants. I think the Giants uh could could have a really good year, but I I just feel really bad for them to be playing the Rams now. So you mean the Rams?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, no, Miles Garrett. Uh he's having that surgery, and then uh Aaron Donald should be playing in this game, right? Yeah, I think he's he's playing. Yeah. I mean, and they're back in LA, so clearly like waiting, waiting till the end to travel out to Australia, like screw them over. So I I think that was just a complete fluke in terms of just getting blown out. Uh, this will definitely be like a revenge game. So yeah, uh rams in the points.
SPEAKER_00All right. We did it. Look at us. Look at us. Yeah, look at us. We just we just keep doing the damn thing. Thank you so much for for joining me tonight.
