NFL Prediction Show - 26/27 NFL Season
The fastest way to ruin your peace before Week 1 is to write down your NFL season predictions in ink, so that’s exactly what we do. We bring back our annual record-prediction game, complete with our “within one game” scoring and the chaos button: the steal, where you can challenge the other side’s win total and try to grab extra points.
We go division by division and force real choices. The NFC North turns into a tight fight between Lions confidence, Bears hope, Packers skepticism, and a Vikings slide. The AFC North gets spicy with a Browns collapse, a Bengals “revenge tour” vibe, and a real disagreement about what the Ravens look like with coaching changes and a new approach to Lamar. The South divisions are all about schedule math, roster turnover, and resisting the yearly Falcons “Madden roster” trap, while the AFC South hinges on one question: can Houston’s offense and CJ Stroud shake off the bad taste and win ugly when it matters?
Then the Easts arrive and the temperature rises. We talk Eagles control of the NFC East, argue about what a “successful” Giants season even is, and fight through Cowboys expectations. The AFC East turns into pure hate and strategy as we land on Bills and Patriots win totals, debate how many wins the Jets can accidentally steal, and ask how low Miami can go after major departures. We close with the West divisions, where the 49ers health roulette, Rams strength, and Seahawks ceiling set up a real NFC arms race, then we finish with award picks: MVP, OPOY, DPOY, rookies, Coach of the Year, and first coach fired.
If you love NFL record predictions, win totals, strength of schedule arguments, and takes you can quote back at us in December, hit play, subscribe, and leave a review. Which pick are we going to regret first?

Banter And Prediction Game Rules
SPEAKER_06It's missing the point!
SPEAKER_08The NFL season is right around the corner. Thank God. I mean, honestly, these summer days are really starting to drag without a uh 11 random men that I've never met before deciding my mood on a week-to-week basis. I I'm really listless and lost until that happens. We're doing our favorite thing, our downright favorite thing that we do here on the show. We're teaming up and we're gonna make some predictions. We've done it every year since we started the podcast, but obviously we have some new faces, new voices, so we've we've jumbled up the teams. We're starting fresh. Mike will probably talk a lot about his record in this game because he's only ever lost it once, but it's a different time now. It's a different time to be alive. Myself and Matt Wilcox are going to predict the records of the NFC. Mike and Zach are gonna predict the records of the AFC, and we're gonna name who we think the MVP is gonna be offensive player of the year, defensive player of the year, offensive rookie, defensive rookie, coach of the year, first coach fired, are all eligible to score us a point. The rules are the same. We've tweaked and and twaddled them over the years, but uh it's fairly simple. If you get within a game, if your if your prediction gets within a game, if you say the Lions are gonna be 10-7, and they're 11-6, you get the point. If they win 12 games, you don't get the point. You get the point. See what I did there? This is missing the point. That's a play on words. I don't know if we've checked in about that in a while. It's about sports. But we also make takes. Sometimes we miss the point. Just like in sports. Sometimes you miss the point, just like in this game, sometimes you miss the point. But the goal will be to not miss as many points as the team you're trying to beat. Everybody with me? Everybody caught up on the prediction game rules? It's not fucking rocket science, Zach looking at you.
SPEAKER_03Uh does do the points matter here? Like, what do we get out of this?
SPEAKER_08Yes, everything matters. What do you mean? What do you get out of this? Don't bring down the whole house of cards, Zach. You get the satisfaction of victory over your fellow man.
SPEAKER_00I pick a trophy.
SPEAKER_08Uh, yeah, we'll we'll we'll see if we can put something together. All right, moving right along. I think what we'll do is we'll go north, south, east, and west. Uh, since I'm kind of starting the show here, I'm gonna go first. Uh
NFC North Records And Bold Bears Talk
SPEAKER_08the NFC North. Let's talk about them. Why the hell not? We'll do the AFC North right after. Uh, you guys can obviously weigh in on what you think our our decided predictions um end up as. Yeah, we'll we'll we'll we'll talk we'll build in the uh the four predictions and you guys can react to like any big swings just so we can get you on record for the other the other conference.
SPEAKER_04Um also sorry to do your job here, but just sorry, but I'm not I'm not I'm supposed to say that. Uh remind me about the steal.
SPEAKER_08Oh, right, the steal. So if you want to play a steal, you don't have to necessarily, but if you really think another team has gotten their prediction way wrong, you can make a counter prediction for them. So basically, you get to predict one NFC team's record uh if you want. Um, both of our guesses will still be in play, um, but you have a chance to get two points instead of one by stealing. Um we usually do it just for the funsies. But uh yeah, it'll jump out at you as it as it comes. You'll be like, whoa, I think they're way off on that one. Let's try to let's try to get it. Even if it's just a one-game difference to see if you can sort of price as right the point. Um, it's a good idea. It's a good idea to try to win. I have has anyone ever successfully stolen one mic over the years? Have you didn't we last year? No, I think we try I think we had a really, really egregiously wrong steal last year. But anyway, it doesn't matter. Um moving right along. NFC North.
SPEAKER_04No, I think no, I think we did see it. The Vikings, remember?
SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, cool. Fun.
SPEAKER_08Um, all right, NFC North. Matt, let's talk about the division that contains my beloved, well, toxic relationship I have with the Chicago Bears. Um, I think there's gonna be a lot of parody in this division, so it's gonna be a little difficult to choose. All four teams have been decent over the last three seasons. I think the Vikings are going to hell in a handbasket, and I think that they're gonna be last. Do I where what range would you say you put the Vikings in? If we're in agreement on the fact that they're gonna be the worst team in the NFC North, what range would you put them in? And let's try and see if we can civilly decide a decent record to start this thing off.
SPEAKER_00I don't so I I I think they have the potential to get some easy wins because I think they have a pretty easy schedule coming up, but yeah, I don't see them being very good. I just it just you know I I don't like JJ McCarthy. I think he's got a stupid face. Um, they weren't very good last year, and I just don't see it picking up much this year. So I I put them in in an under 500 category for sure.
SPEAKER_08All right. I I know you you probably were leaning for just because I saw your predictions before this, uh, for seven wins, but I do think they have a good coach. I do think they have a top three wide receiver. I'm willing to go five under 500, but I think we should just to cover ourselves, I think we should go eight and nine.
SPEAKER_00That sounds fair. I'll do that. All right.
SPEAKER_08Love that. Am I gonna be writing this down as we go? Yeah, everybody keep track of your own shit. All right. I'm gonna keep track of the NFC over here and where we end up.
SPEAKER_04And you guys usually I just I just send it to you after. I I was planning on doing that again this year. You're gonna do both? You're gonna do both for us? Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Oh, you're such a nice guy. Like, couldn't be me. Could not be me. This is how he always this is how he always wins, you know. Who did you just first he wins our hearts? Um, we're we went eight and nine for the Minnesota Vikings. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00So did you take a notes? Can I also get a coffee or wow?
SPEAKER_08He's doing a nice thing and you gotta be a dick about it. I'm sorry, I can't always just insane. I have a coffee actually next tier up, it's gonna be a dog fight at the top, I think, for for the three potential, I think, double-digit win teams, maybe not necessarily all three, but I'd like to put the Green Bay Packers next in third place in the NFC North, but I my my goggles be on. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I agree with you completely. I think after the the the collapse last year, they went from what the best team in the NFL to dying in front of the Bears in the funniest way I've ever seen. Um, I I still think they're gonna be a very competitive team. I do think their quarterbacks are better than you give them credit for, but I definitely have them as number three in the division.
SPEAKER_08I think he's not that good. Um, I think that they lost Romeo Dobbs, they lost Ontavian Wicks, they lost some depth in the offensive line. Um I think Matthew Golden looked like a whiff to me last year. I don't know. Like there was a lot of talk about that guy, and then he caught like three balls. Um he caught less balls than you do on a Saturday night, and I just don't think that it's necessarily uh it's necessarily too one step too far to call him a bust already. Um, they have the third hardest schedule. I think they'll have a winning record, but I think it'll be barely it. Can we agree on nine and eight? Would that be fair? Because that covers us on eight wins, it covers us on ten wins. I think what the I'll you want to go eight and nine again, and we'll just they win the head to head because we can't put them any worse than that.
SPEAKER_00I kind of see them as like a 10-win team, but I agree with I'll I'll go with you again just because I haven't played this game before. Mike scares me to death. I'm just gonna lean on your expertise in this in this category. Don't do something like that.
SPEAKER_08So it's like I don't know. I'm uh my ass is the same. You've learned from the best. Um all right.
SPEAKER_04Do not do not boost Mike's ego, please.
SPEAKER_08I know.
SPEAKER_04Honestly, in this game you can't. That's it's already sky high.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's because he plays the game, not the not the he doesn't play with his heart, you know. Um, anyway, uh next up, I I mean, I if I'm just being as honest as I can, I I don't really want to predict the Bears are gonna win the division. I think that 10 and 7 is uh already like a sky high, very uh pie in the sky prediction for me to make. I that's what I want to go with. I I predicted nine wins for them last year as an absolute ceiling. They won 11 games. That was fucking great. Um, you know, we lost a little bit of we're uh we're decidedly the number one regression candidate across the board. Like every single person has this as the number one regression candidate in the league, not just in the NFC. Um I believe in Caleb and Ben. I I think another year of development for the young guys like Luther Burden and Colston Loveland is great. I think it's gonna be really hard to defend offense again. Um we have the hardest schedule in the league on paper right now. It's number one most difficult. So I think 10 wins would be 10 hardfought wins. Um we play six games against the NFC West. That's tough. We got rid of DJ Moore, that's tough. Uh yeah, we like a lot of the draft picks, but we still have issues in the trenches. I say this every year about the Bears. We still have issues in the trenches. Um, I don't think we're gonna completely collapse, like a lot of people are predicting, but uh losing one more game than we did last year with the hardest schedule, but you know, potentially making the playoffs again and just seeing what happens when we get in there, I'd be pretty happy with. I'm I'm okay with 10 and 7, and I don't really want to like put some bad juju on the Bears by predicting that they're gonna win this division. Um you you're well you're welcome to talk me out of it.
SPEAKER_00No, I have them at 11 and 6. I just I I think that the the I think you're right. I understand I understand the predictions that that they're gonna have a regression, but I think they get to see my uh Minnesota twice. They're gonna dogfight with the Packers. I think they're gonna get a lot of division wins here, and I think that Detroit going to Chicago never really goes well for Detroit. I don't really care about how talented their running core is. Um, I have met 11 and 6, and I I think I might be underestimating them. I think they love the fact that their quarterback, his weird fingernails get a bad reputation. I think he's got a lot of proof going into this year. I love them as an underdog. I love the Bears as a as a as a uh uh forgotten team. Nobody thought they were gonna do that last year. There what was their over-under? Seven and a half wins. I like the bears. I have been 11 and 6. And I know, I know you have this this relationship with them where you can't get your hopes up because they're gonna stomp your soul out again. But I just think that I think they're gonna have a very, very strong year.
SPEAKER_08I just want everyone to have fun. Okay. I just want I just wanna I just want everyone to go out there and have a good time. I don't, I don't, I'm not asking for much here. Uh fine. We it we'll go with 11 wins. Uh that's you predicting that. So just tell this, tell the gods of the National Football League that I had nothing to do with that and uh ask for forgiveness. That's fine. We would listen, man.
SPEAKER_00I have faith in this team. When your when your heterosexual life partner bleeds every single year and cries blood for this team, I love this team. I love watching them, and I think they've got a lot of talent. And the teams I root for win. So this is good. This is a good thing.
SPEAKER_07Okay. Wow. But he should have teamed it too.
SPEAKER_08I had uh I had the Lions winning the division um at 11 and 6. I they can still win the division at 11 and 6, probably, even if they're you know, we'll see how the head-to-head goes. But they they're lined up to bounce back. I think everybody has that them sort of penciled in to do that. Um, they have a really easy schedule, it turns out. Um, Goff isn't the second coming of Tom Brady by any stretch of the imagination, but he has elite weapons. Um, Aiden Hutchinson, you know, gives the defense something they can build around. Yeah, they lost Montgomery, and that two-headed snake at running back is is no more. But I mean, if we're really being honest, like Gibbs was the focal point of that. He was the he was the game changer. Um Taylor Decker's gone, Graham Glasgow's gone, uh, DJ Reeder, they've lost some guys. Um, but Brian Branch is coming back, Kirby Joseph. I will see. Um, I don't think that they're like have as much depth as they maybe did two years ago, but I think the way that that offense still operates, despite losing Ben Johnson, I still think that they they have a really talented offense, and I think that they can do a lot. And that schedule's so fucking easy. Like, if you actually go, which we we do resort to sometimes on this show, if we really can't agree, and you go through every single game, you can find, I think, 11 wins. Me and Mike had to do it on almost every single team last year, um, because we just couldn't agree, but we're agreeing here, so this is great. It's really easy to find 11 wins. I I could even be talked into 12, to be honest, but like, you know, they're always gonna lose a weird one or two. Um, they're gonna flame out in the playoffs, is my prediction, because it's the Detroit Lions, and like that's just written into their their uh DNA, into the into the code of what makes them them. But yeah, I could see them being an 11-win team. That 11-win team that nobody believes is gonna go very far in the playoffs, but you know, they sort of quietly get on with it and and win 11-12 games all season. Um, you could talk me out of it if you will.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I went bold actually. I have them at 14 and 3. I looked over the schedule. I just think they're gonna I know, but here's the thing. I think Aiden Hutchinson is poised to have a potential uh defensive player of the year season. I think their front uh defensive line is is uh devastating. And I think they play a couple of teams, like the Packers and the Lions, who had the Packers and the Vikings, who have really bad defensive lines. So that's uh it's just a it's a perfect mix for them. They're gonna play teams with the worst offensive lines this year. That's their benefit. And why the fuck do they have such an easy schedule? It's bullshit that the Bears have to have to take that out their their uh uh uh stretch season and then pay for it in the long end. And then the Lions get this this easy fluff schedule, but I think they're gonna run wild with it.
SPEAKER_08I know, but we drove industry out of Detroit, you know, and now everybody that used to work there works in Japan. So it's only fair. I think I uh let's just go through the season really fast and see if we can find 14 wins. I don't think we're gonna be able to, but I'll be really liberal with it. I'll be I'll be AOC about it. I'll be so liberal. I'll be Birdie fucking Sanders, and we'll see if we can do it, all right? Um, here's me Karl Marxing their season. Ready? Saints, that's a dub. Bills, that's an L. Okay. They're gonna lose to the Bills. It's if it's a it's a prime time game. We gotta give them, we gotta give them the all right, whatever. I'm not doing that. You're slowing me down. Okay. Jets, that's a dub. Panthers, that's a dub. Cardinals, that's a dub. This is going well for them so far. Let's say they split with the Packers, so let's give them one here. Fine. I'll I think they can sweep the Vikings, so let's give them one here. That's six. Dolphins, everyone's beating the Dolphins next year. I don't know what you guys are talking about when you get over to the AFC side. That's seven. Pats, I'm gonna give them an L. That's that's a defending Super Bowl participant. Um that's uh still only seven wins. Bucks, yeah. Let's say they beat the Bucs. Yep. I'd say let's split with the Bears, that's nine. They beat the biggest. Titans, that's eleven. Vikings, we say they swept, so that's 12. Giants.
SPEAKER_00Giants, that's a yep.
SPEAKER_08The loss that well, we found 13 wins because then with the splits now with the Bears and the Packers to finish out the season. So 13. I think they can give them. I'm fine. I'm fine with 13.
SPEAKER_00I'll take 13. Let's do it.
AFC North Reality Checks And Ravens Debate
SPEAKER_08All right, very cool. Um, that's the NFC North, done and dusted. Uh, now to the AFC North. Gentlemen, the floor is yours.
SPEAKER_04All right, Zach, let you go first.
SPEAKER_03You want me to go first?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You're the you're you're the rookie.
SPEAKER_04So cocky.
SPEAKER_03Uh I think the easy one is the Cleveland Browns, just the absolute I don't know if you want to call them the armpit or the asshole of the NFL. Uh, I have them down for two wins. Uh yep. Two wins. Uh one of those coming against the Jets in week five, and then the other one is going to be uh week 12 coming out of a bye home against uh the Raiders. Otherwise, uh yeah, I mean, you get rid of Miles Garrett, and who knows how Sanders is gonna be this season, too. So I could be completely wrong about Sanders and and the team as a whole.
SPEAKER_08He didn't look great the preseason so far. I'll say I'll tell you that. The whole quarterback situation looks just as messy there as it has. Right.
SPEAKER_03So I mean, I I don't think they took any steps forward in the offseason. So just I went game by game with them and I got two wins out of it.
SPEAKER_06Yikes.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so I do agree with you on a broad level here. Um, I had them at uh five and twelve because they do always just seem to figure out how to win a couple in November for no fucking reason. Uh but I I do think four gives us the ability to have three and five. Yep, I like that. So I'll take four and thirteen.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I don't I mean I'm gonna chip. I will say if they only win two games, I'm gonna be pretty pissed about this one. Yeah, you should be. Yeah, but I'll I can accept four. That's fine. Love that.
SPEAKER_04All right, what do you got for the what do you got for the the Ravens?
SPEAKER_03Uh Ravens, I feel like kind of have a hiccup year. I mean, not that they didn't last year, but you know, head coaching change, a lot of question marks about Lamar as well. I actually have them down for six and eleven. Um start off with two wins against the the Colts and the and the Saints. Uh then they have to take the trip down to Brazil. Uh I think Lamar, maybe some other people get really distracted by the big booty Brazilians or something. Cowboys, like I think they'll take care of business down there. Um trying to see any other like big losses. I mean, gets Atlanta and I have them down as a loss. Uh at Buffalo, a loss. Home against Jacksonville, I have a loss. Home against the Chargers too as well. I have as a loss. Uh yeah, I have like a four-game, actually a five-game losing streak right before they hit their buy, which then in turn keeps just sucking. So uh yeah, I have them down for uh six wins. Okay.
SPEAKER_04So nobody on this show uh believes in uh Lamar Jackson less than I do. Uh so you don't need to really sell me on this. Uh they lost Harbaugh. They didn't.
SPEAKER_08Wait, hold on a second. Can I ask you something, Mike? Is that is that true? Uh I thought your the entirety of your take around Lamar Jackson is that he's great in the regular season, and that's what we're talking about here. And he just flames out in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no, but that's belief in him as a player. That like he'll he'll prop up a team for a little while and then he'll flame out because that's what he does.
SPEAKER_08So I think while being the the only period of the season we're discussing right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. But I'm just I'm I'm just setting the foundation for what's to come. Just being clear, because I'm just you just said this about him a lot, and it just seems like you're now expanding the takeout to say that he sucks in general, which would be great going into the season. I would love to just watch that get absolutely decimated for the entirety of the season. That would be great. I think that's what you're doing.
SPEAKER_04He's yeah, he's just a you know, it's just a uh a paper tiger. However, I I don't see six wins. I had them at 10 and 7. I thought that they made some good additions uh in the offseason. I I think you know, Trey Hendrickson, Calais Campbell, uh they drafted Zion Young, who I wanted.
SPEAKER_03Um I know Clayus Campbell's always been great, but he's also like a hundred years old.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but okay. What do I need to do to get you to agree to to nine? How do I get you in this car today?
SPEAKER_03Uh the way you get the way you get me the nine is flip it upside down.
SPEAKER_04No, I'm not doing it now.
SPEAKER_03That's how you do it.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Um okay. DK, can you pull up the schedule for me? Seeing angel of the house.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I yeah, I have it here too, but um week one. Colts. I have that as a win.
SPEAKER_04Win, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Two week Saints.
SPEAKER_04Win.
SPEAKER_03Three in Brazil distraction distracted by the big booty uh Brazilians. Yep. That's a loss. Against who? Dallas.
SPEAKER_08You're saying that that the Baltimore Ravens are more likely to get distracted by big booty Brazilians than Dag Prescott and the fucking Dallas Cowboys?
SPEAKER_04I I think we live in a world where the the Ravens are three and oh that everyone's saying like this is the rebound year for the for the Ravens to go to the Super Bowl. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay. So we can the three and we can contest that one, I guess. That's sure. Um next week is home against the Titans.
SPEAKER_04When?
SPEAKER_03Fuck. In Atlanta the week after.
SPEAKER_04When?
SPEAKER_03I had a loss. Okay. Uh at uh Cleveland. Loss. So you think they won't be they always do.
SPEAKER_04They always fucking split with Cleveland. They always do.
SPEAKER_03Uh I had them losing against Cincinnati the week after. Loss. Five and two. Losing at Buffalo.
SPEAKER_04Yep, five and three.
SPEAKER_03Losing at home against Jacksonville. That's a Thursday night game, too.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I'll take that time and four.
SPEAKER_03Uh then they play Monday night against uh Chargers at home. When Chargers and Herbert. Uh at Carolina. When uh at Houston. When uh then they have a bye, and then they are home against Tampa. When Pittsburgh Home Against Living. When at Cincinnati, Thursday night.
SPEAKER_04Uh there is one of them.
SPEAKER_03So and then finally home against uh Pittsburgh. I had that as a win.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so that's so that that's I I just have eleven right there. So I'm willing to I don't I'm willing to concede a few of those. But I'm not willing to concede fucking five of them. So how about eight? Okay, so do you think that it's more likely that they only win seven games or that they win ten games? Seven.
SPEAKER_03Fine. This sucks. Eight. All right, put it for the Ravens down for eight then. Eight and nine. That's blows.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Bengals, I'm gonna go first. I think this is a I think this is a rebound year, which actually is gonna contradict what I'm gonna say later in the show. Um I think uh healthy Joe Burrow. I think he's gonna stay healthy. I think they they did a lot over the uh offseason to add to their defense, which was the fucking worst I've ever seen the last couple of years. Um I have them at 11 and 6. I think this is I I think this is uh the Bengals revenge tour.
SPEAKER_03I had him at 10 and 7, so I will take your 11 and 6 in.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Perfect. Love that. Love that for us. And me too. Okay, uh, Steelers. This is interesting. Uh I'm just gonna go out and say this. I fucking hate Aaron Rodgers. I think he's a little coward. I think he's a bitch for going on national television on the Pat McAfee show and and saying that they didn't spend any time talking about Diana Rossini and Mike Rabel, and they call fucking Dr. Fauci a coward when that network has made it a point to not cover the fact that he likes people of the same gender. Okay, so let's let's just get out of there. Fuck him. That being said, I had them at seven and ten. I have them at five and twelve. Can we split the difference? Go six. Do you think it's more likely that they only win four games or that they could win eight? Uh four. Okay, no, we're not doing that again. So we'll we'll I I I already I already conceded one for you. Uh I conceded one for you. Yeah, but this is my show. Uh we'll do seven and ten.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_04Because that that's still six and eleven. You really think five and twelve?
SPEAKER_03I went through every game, yeah.
SPEAKER_04All right, six and eleven is our final. Excellent.
SPEAKER_00Thoughts on that, guys? How is Mike the the down tried heal and the champion at the same time?
SPEAKER_08This is a he's a man he wears a lot of hats. I think the one um the one kind of quibble I had was the the Ravens. I do there's such an unknown that it's it's it's tough to be because like what they've been calling for, in my opinion, in Baltimore is a little bit of a culture change as far as the personnel they have. They should really be focusing a little bit more on the offensive side of the ball. Um, I think the shakeup at coach might actually help them, unlike Pittsburgh, which I think you have it right. I I mean I know Mike McCarthy hasn't had a ton of losing seasons, but I, you know, putting him and Aaron Rodgers together at this point in Rodgers' career, he's obviously got severe CTE, so I I think it's finally time to put that team out of its misery and just have them really actually start fresh. Um they're never gonna win shit with like a million-year-old Aaron Rodgers. It's just it's not gonna happen. But I do think um, I like I think I'm just interested, I guess. I don't I know it's hard to make a prediction, but I'm interested in the Baltimore Ravens this year because they did take the Bears offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle. He took the job because he can now call plays in Baltimore, which he's obviously not doing under Ben Johnson. But I think uh what's his name? Jesse Minter. I I think he's a real like pre-snap disguise, you know, overload personnel type guy. I think that's really gonna benefit Lamar Jackson. I think calling plays, the the guy calling plays, having learned under Ben Johnson. Obviously, I'm a little biased, but having learned under Ben Johnson and giving him these weapons and like letting him cook, I think is gonna be really interesting to watch. Um, I think he's a really good offensive mind, um, Declan Doyle. So I, you know, I was sad to lose him. I think that's a always a good indicator. Like if you get a new coach or a new player, go and look at what the fan base's reaction is they just lost him, and you'll see like what you have on your hands, I think. And we're all really disappointed to lose Declan Doyle. Despite the fact that he wasn't calling plays for us, I think he was really um a big part of Caleb Williams' development last year. Um, and uh I think he really helped him become the quarterback he was by the end of the season. I Lamar Jackson's never had a guy really develop his game, it's all been raw talent combined with, you know, let's play the kind of football that Harbaugh plays, right? And and it's it's tested and it's proven. So he can't really say anything. I think we're gonna see a team finally built completely around Lamar and like letting him cook, which is just regardless of whether it works or not, whether Mike's right, I really want to see it. You know, I really want to see like a fully off the leash Lamar Jackson, at least in the regular season, it's gonna be a lot of fun. Um, I I hope. So the one kind of quibble I had was the Ravens. I think you guys are a little bit more down on them than you should be. Um otherwise, yeah, I overall sort of agree. Like, I really uh they need to finally put that the Steelers experiment out of its misery. Like the only reason, the only thing keeping them above 500 every year was the fact that that um Mike Tomlin refused to have a losing season. He was just never ever gonna do it, I guess. Uh it's just not whatever. But the worst place you can be in the in the National Football League is in the middle. Um, you either want to be bad enough where you can make a franchise-changing draft pick in the following year. Um, if you could, you know, go get a Caleb Williams, go get a Drake May, like whatever it is, or you want to be good enough to be contending. When you're right in the middle at that, like just above 500 mark, it's it's it's torturous. It really is. You never really want to defeat that team. Yeah, it absolutely is purgatory. You either need to start over or you need to make a legitimate run. And I don't think that the Steelers have enough pieces to make a legitimate run, which sad to say, I mean, my wife loves them, but um I think that about three to four seasons ago, they stopped being the Steelers that people are afraid to go play. Um, and there's a little bit of a weakness now about them. There's sort of um they've lost the aura of being like a terrifying franchise to play year in, year out. This is the worst I've ever seen them, to be honest. Like I know they've had down years, but like this is the worst I've ever seen them in like an overall holistic sort of state. So they really go need to go. You know, they could have done something if they just had a slightly above average quarterback during the era of the last five to seven years. Like they could have really made a run with that like highest paid defense. That defense was scary as hell. If they could have kept them off the field for at least a few more minutes at a time, I really think they could have made a legitimate run, but they just never had the guy at quarterback ever to do that. Um, Aaron Rodgers was obviously well past his prime. Uh yeah, I mean, I I have to agree with your assessment of the rest of the teams. It was just the Ravens, I think, that put me off a little bit.
SPEAKER_04Also, like exclamation point, fuck Aaron Rodgers. Yeah, that guy sucks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, worse. Yeah, yeah, he's a fucking loser.
SPEAKER_04Dave and I actually bonded over that back in back in college. It was just our our hate for Aaron Rodgers. I mean, if you're still talking about Fauci, bro, like just shut the fuck up.
SPEAKER_08Shut the fuck up. Like, come on. You're talking about Fauci dogs? Just take an actual picture with your wife, bro. I know. Yeah, yeah. She lives in a different town. You wouldn't know her. You guys wouldn't know her. Go to a different school.
SPEAKER_03Just the wildest thing that he's like, I got married in the off season. Everyone's just like, oh, okay. Yeah, sure. It's like the marriage of the real girl.
SPEAKER_08You fumble Olivia Munn, you know, you're never gonna recover from that. That's just it's not the girl.
SPEAKER_00What's his wife's name? She looks like every girl you went to high school with, like in their 30s. It's just not it's not ideal for me. It's you've seen a picture. Well is he married to the famous one, the Woodley girl?
SPEAKER_04No, no, no, no, no one knows that this girl's even real. That's the whole thing. Those are all they're they were all signed by the by the same talent agency as well. So there's no sketchy there. Well, Harvey Wiseman actually did okay.
SPEAKER_08Um, moving on to the NFC South.
NFC South Sleepers And Falcons Arguments
SPEAKER_08Uh there's a little bit of a point of contention here. The Saints have an over-under of seven and a half. You have them at three wins. So you have them at three wins. Uh, let's start with them, I guess. Um, my assessment of the Saints, and I guess you can tell me why I'm completely wrong here, is that they actually are a little bit of a sleeper. They're maybe a little bit more competitive than people expect. Um, they have the second easiest schedule. I'm obviously weighing strength of schedule pretty hard. That's becoming a theme. Um, I think that Tyler Show, is it Show? Show?
SPEAKER_00Show.
SPEAKER_08Show. Um, gets a second year to develop. Um, Travis Etienne I think needed to change the scenery. That's good for that, good for them. Uh, that guy Jordan Tyson's good. Their defense was ninth last year, and they've added a bunch of guys. Caden Ellis, um, Chris Olave, and Tyson uh both have injury histories, so I don't know if they're gonna really like do much. So even not factoring them in, I can count, I can count higher than three on wins. I really think so. I I think they won six last year, and I think they're better than they were last year. So could we do six so that we're covered on seven, but we're also covered on five? Is that I mean they have an easy schedule, is the thing, and we can go through the schedule if you want. It's a great way to think about it.
SPEAKER_00Given the champion, I've been thinking uh, you know, I was looking at my ratings, and I don't know how I came up with the three. I think I was just being harsh on them because I think the quarterback sucks. I think the coach is a fraud, and I I just hate New Orleans as a place in general. But thinking about Mike's common, what is what is more likely? This or where were you when the levees broke? Can you account for your whereabouts? Uh, I was in a place where that shit doesn't happen. So sorry, sorry about that. Sorry, New Orleans. Uh no, I'll agree with you. I'll I'll go with six. I don't know why it was so harsh on them. I just think their quarterback is garbage. I just you have to score points. And Travis Hitney is not going to carry the team. And I think Chase Young's overrated. I think Kool-Aid McKinsey is uh overrated, and I just don't buy it.
SPEAKER_08All right, six it is.
SPEAKER_00I'll go with six.
SPEAKER_08Okay. Um I you fucking hate New Orleans. All right.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I don't like New Orleans.
SPEAKER_08Um the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I'm a little suspicious of this team with the early kind of drama with Baker already sort of being like they're the I I would say I would give them the most watchable award for last season. Like I really enjoyed watching them. Uh like they were the best programming on TV week to week. Um, the games were really fun. Baker was really gritty. He was grinding it out until the sort of wheels came off health-wise at the end of the season. Um, they went eight and nine last year. It looked for a good stretch, like they were gonna be a double-digit win team.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_08Finishing eight and nine, but then combined with like a little bit of off-season drama. I'm I'm comfortable fading them. I mean, Mike Evans is in San Francisco now. He was a big part of the reason they were A, fun to watch, and B, were able to get down the field in a pinch. Um, Levante David retired. Uh, they've lost Rashad White, Jamel Dean, Logan Hall, Hassan Reddick, they're all gone. Um, yes, Ashawn Robertson and Alex Anzoloni are there. They got a first-round pass rusher. Cool. I don't think that they replaced what walked out the door, and what walked out the door got them to eight and nine last year. So I I don't know. Seven and ten feels out on a push. I I'm I'm I want to give him seven wins. What do you think?
SPEAKER_00I think I I have him at nine and eight, and I think the other the only thing you didn't hit for me is that Baker gets hurt, man. And if he does get hurt, this team is in deep, deep shit. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Um I guess by seven wins if he if he doesn't stay really consistently healthy. It's probably nine wins if he does. So, do you want to just call it eight wins?
SPEAKER_00Let's call it eight. We're doing so well.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, we're covered on both. I mean, until the season actually starts, and it's like, ah, the house is on. Why were you thinking? Um, great, awesome, love it. Let's give him eight wins. Uh again. Um, it's gonna look different probably than last season's eight wins, but eight wins nonetheless. I'm I'm cool with that. Um, okay, so we did the Saints. The two the two teams I want to talk about the least uh in the entire NFL, so let's just speed right through this, these next two. Um I had both the Panthers and the Falcons in the sort of eight to nine win range, and I think maybe I was being really fair to them. I don't know. Um Stefansky, I think, raises the four at the floor of the Falcons. Bijan's still really good. He can run that offense that he likes to run through Bijan. That's a real thing. Penix, I I I to I don't but I don't know. I I I think they're gonna win the least fucking fun team to watch or or their thereabouts this year. Um Darnell Mooney being a centerpiece of your offense is not great. Take it from me. Um he this this they've got a pretty favorable schedule. Again, that's the only sort of reason I'm I'm able to sort of count to eight on this. I'm happy to go through both of these uh these seasons really fast if you want to, but tell me where you are and like we'll see if if we're very far away from each other.
SPEAKER_00I I don't think we need to do it for the Panthers, but I do think we should go through it for the Falcons because I do have them at 12 and 5. And I didn't go through the full schedule. I'll tell you what happened here. 12 wins for the Falcons. I have I have here a problem with the Madden complex where you look at the roster and it's just the team that you'd want to pick in the year with the Falcons, though.
SPEAKER_08They had they that's every year the Falcons don't fall into this trap. They always look like they should be better than they actually are. It's every season with them, it's every season with them all the way back.
SPEAKER_00A lot of talent across the field, man. They don't have a quarterback. Yeah, they don't. I don't think that that's necessarily true. I think my skin ball a little bit.
SPEAKER_08Can we agree on eight wins for the Panthers if you had them at nine? We'll just just just put them at eight, call it, and then we'll go through the Falcons schedule, and then we'll give them uh we'll give the AFC team back the reins after we do this. All right, let's see how many wins we got.
SPEAKER_00Yes, he beats.
SPEAKER_08Come on, AJ Terrell, come on, bro. I see they beat the Steelers opening week. They beat the Panthers, they lose to the Packers, they beat the Saints, they lose to the Ravens, they lose to the Bears, fucking hopefully, or I'll be suicide with suicidal by October. They lose to the 49ers, they beat the Buccaneers. Do they beat the Bengals? Mike thinks the Bengals are having a big season this season. I'm not giving them that win. No. He thinks they lose Joey to the Chiefs, they lose. I mean, I like Joe Burrow. They lose to the Chiefs, they beat the Vikings, they lose to the Lions, they beat the Browns, where it's six wins. I'll give him a win against the Commanders, sure. Uh seven books, no. Uh Saints, sure, that's eight. Panthers, they should split. I got to eight wins, but I'm sorry. Eight wins on a push.
SPEAKER_00They're gonna beat, they're gonna beat uh Jordan Love. They're gonna beat him for sure. Okay, make a call then.
SPEAKER_08It's not 12, but make a call.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so using the champions' logic of is it more likely 13 or is it more likely I forget what he was saying. He was talking about something, but um you got going on there. I'll I'll come down to 10.
SPEAKER_08Okay, 10 wins for the Atlanta Falcons is pure suicide, but I think our their steel might be incoming right now, but let's see.
SPEAKER_00They're winning this division for sure.
SPEAKER_04I have them with nine wins for what it's worth. Hey, oh my boy. Oh, all right, so I can't even waste a steal on that. I think you can you can all well, I can't convince them. I think you can always pencil the Falcons in for seven. Yeah. And then I just don't know what's gonna happen for that.
SPEAKER_08So NFC South, you're up, unless you guys have any opinions on the rest of the uh NFC South.
SPEAKER_04I just can I just ask you a question, Dipshit. Why do you think that the Falcons are so much better than a proven commodity of Baker Mayfield?
SPEAKER_00Uh, because I just think Baker's prone to not play very well.
SPEAKER_08What's proven about him, though? Like the down the stretch, the injuries, like you know what I mean? He's already mad at the organization.
SPEAKER_04What's proven okay? Highlight Michael Penix and/or two for me, please. Okay, but that's a tough quarterback room. That's a tough quarterback room.
SPEAKER_00I didn't want to give him I didn't want to give him 10 minutes. He's essentially a rookie. He's giving him a little bit of time.
SPEAKER_0433 years old. He can be a rookie for that much longer.
SPEAKER_08He's 41. He's 52 years old. How is a 61-year-old quarterback supposed to do this at 71 years old in the National Football League? He takes a lot of time.
SPEAKER_04He's torn both ACLs. I just think that you're listening, you're your Falcons take this wild.
SPEAKER_00Um, I wish I think that their defense is gonna carry them a lot, and I think it's gonna give the offense a lot of time to work. I think Drake London is better than both Amika and um uh what's the old guy's name, the French Drake London. I love Drake London. I think their defense is gonna really, really care for him. I think Kyle Pitts is untapped as far as he can go. I think he's gonna drunk.
SPEAKER_05There's suicidal fantasy parts out there.
SPEAKER_00Please don't do this to yourself, bro. And uh yeah, I've made a couple mistakes with him. He's left he's left me hanging a few times. No one is happy when they draft him. They're like, this is the year.
unknownThis is the year.
SPEAKER_00Just remember the Madden complex. This team has a lot of talent across the field.
SPEAKER_03Listen, two left quarterback. Two lefts don't make a right, so two lefty quarterbacks aren't gonna make the love that. No, I mean that's all that's all I got. They're not they're not gonna be that good.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, no. All right, go ahead and get me the AFC South.
AFC South Picks And Texans Trust Issues
SPEAKER_04Your AFC South Zach.
SPEAKER_03My AFC South? All right. We'll start in the uh the gutter, the uh Tennessee Titans. New uniforms and new logo will not save this franchise. Um so the four wins like head give them are against the Jets.
SPEAKER_04We don't need to spend that much time on them. I had them at three. Great. So do you think it's more likely to get five wins or two? Uh two. Okay. So three and fourteen. Sure. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Continue. All right. Uh regression year for the Jaguars, I think. Um, and that's only because I think having a uh obviously the schedule changes when depending on your strength. The schedule depends on how you finished from last year. So I think they get kind of challenged this year. Uh I put them at 7 and 10. And they also have back-to-back London games, which I gave them uh wins for both, but otherwise uh I think they get challenged this year.
SPEAKER_04Alright, so I had them at 9 and 8.
SPEAKER_038 and 8. Great. Should we do 8 and 9? Yeah, we can do 8-9.
SPEAKER_04Love that.
SPEAKER_08Look at this. Yeah. You guys should go to the next UN summit. It's like I wouldn't go that far.
SPEAKER_03The Indianapolis Colts. I have both the Colts and the Texans finishing 9-8.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_04I'm not gonna argue with you about the Colts. I have them at 9-8-8 as well. It's perfect, but I I have the Texans at 11-6. Talk me through that. Okay, so they had one of the most like they had a perennial defense last year. Uh, they bolstered their offensive line, and one of their one of their weaknesses was that they didn't have a good running back because Joe Nixon never fucking played, and they brought in David Montgomery, who I think will be the type of uh red zone rusher and point scorer that you need. Uh I think this is a team, again, that was so good last year on one side of the ball. Uh CJ Stroud had some questions. I just don't think he's as bad as he played against the New England Patriots the last time we saw him. Um so yeah, I had like I said, I had them at a at 11 11-6. I'll I'm happy if they go 10 and 10 and 7.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I'll go 10 and 7. Uh split the difference. I just think for the Texans that like you said, is CJ Stroud that bad? Probably not. But he can't be. But dude, those are the type of games that just really alter someone's career, and you're just like, dude, you are like you have to be a really top-tier player in this in any league, any sport, to have a bad performance in the playoffs like that and bounce back. To be kind of a mid-tier, higher mid-tier player and have that terrible of a game at that stage? Ah, man, I don't know. It just it gives a giant question mark for the season for that offense.
SPEAKER_04I just think the best thing about them this year is that all the pressure is on Indianapolis because they have they have literally decided that they have to go all in the uh over the next two years with Daniel Jones and their entire offense. So the entire focus of nationally is gonna be can Daniel Jones stay healthy? Is this the year? And they can fly under the radar. Uh, and then maybe he has a catastrophic postseason, who knows? But uh, I'm sure we'll talk about that in January.
SPEAKER_03It's also very just AFC South to just have division winners being like nine and eight or only ten wins, and then just the rest is just dog shit. Just always ends up this way for the AFC South.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, Titans are gonna suck for a long time.
SPEAKER_03Anything, fellas?
SPEAKER_08I think that the uh Houston Texans defense is probably the most skilled defense in the league on paper. Um, I think that they are only gonna get better, they're only gonna go from strength to strength. I think your prediction on them, I agree with pretty much all the other teams. I wouldn't mount any sort of big thing against them, but I think the the the thing you're really looking at with the Texans is CJ Stroud. I think you kind of you landed there and he hit the nail on the head. I think since that time he tried to sun Caleb Williams. I don't know if you guys remember that when he was is coming out talking to Caleb Williams like he was a fucking 10 time MVP and Caleb Williams like just got to the fucking rodeo. Um, since that moment, Caleb Williams, 27 touchdowns, five interceptions. CJ Stroud, 19 touchdowns, 15 interceptions. Don't ever talk to my guy like that again, and we'll be cool. You know, I do believe you can bounce back, but don't ever, don't, don't ever. And then we'll be cool. You know, I think he can bounce back. I do think that the Texans are gonna win that division. If I was on your team, I would, I would I would probably go on the higher side with them. 12 13 wins seems about right to me. They were 12-5 last year, they didn't get any worse. So um if he can finally shake off the juju of Yeah, but their schedule got harder. Yeah, but I mean, like, I think that they're a little tougher. I think they've been together for a long enough time where like this is now we're in entering the window where it's it's do or die for them, and I think they know that. Um, and I think that like maybe CJ Stroud in the offseason, like, you know, asked his lord and savior to take that juju off him and he'll he, you know, apologized to the gods for ever coming at the goat. So it it is what it is, but like I I think he can get that off out out of his system and you know, just just make amends, right? Realize that he'll never be the quarterback that Caleb Williams is, and then like he can be pretty good. I think that I think that'll be fair. Um, but yeah, I do like to bring that up because I hated that moment and so did Caleb Williams. So here we are. Um I didn't like it when it happened, and uh here we are. Yeah. I do I think the Texans are I've been kind of pulling for him in this era, to be honest with you. I like how they built the team, I like the coach, um, uh their defense first. I I like that. CJ Stroud can't get any worse in the postseason, so we'll see how it goes. But um, yeah, I think a fresh start for him. We'll see how it goes.
SPEAKER_04So you're gonna steal it. Where did you guys land on them? 10 and 7. You want to take 12. Yeah, you do. You said 12 or 13, so you think four you think 14 is is possible. Yeah, you want to save it. You want to save it? No.
SPEAKER_08No, no, I'm not gonna bet on CJ Strat. Not after that whole kid.
SPEAKER_04I would that guy. That would have I almost willed that into existence, just like the Aaron Rodgers for the Steelers, by the way.
SPEAKER_00I willed that into exactly for the Patriots.
SPEAKER_08All right. Um, okay, cool.
NFC East Records Plus Giants Disagreement
SPEAKER_08Uh, we're into the Easts, the the consecutive Easts. Um, I love to see it. Um, sorry, I gotta scroll up here. I started off with them. Um, okay. Philadelphia Eagles, we're both relatively high on them, Matt. It seems like you're much higher on them than I am. Um, so why don't you start and you talk me into it?
SPEAKER_00I didn't count when losses. I just see a team that's very experienced that got rid of what for them was a headache, and for the Patriots will be a savior. Um, I I see a lot of room for them to just run away with it here. I think the commanders are kind of fraudish. Um, not fully fraud, but I I think that they're gonna run away with their division. So uh I think Cooper DeGin and Quinny Mitchell are are devastating out there. I don't think Jalen Hurts is as bad as everyone says. Um and you know, Devontae Smith is now gonna have a shot to really go for it out there. So I have them as a Super Bowl contender for sure.
SPEAKER_08You're gonna have to. You know, you kind of have to have them as a Super Bowl contender just because they do have such a talented roster and they were successful so recently. Um, I do have a consistent year-on-year issue with the Philadelphia Eagles, and that is a young man named Nick Siriani, who I think is the dumbest. He's the he's the Joe Mazzula of the NFL. Like he is the least, he is the least intelligent person in a high intelligent person's job that the NFL has to offer. I don't know how he keeps that train on the tracks every year. Just just bubblegum and fucking tissue paper every year before that just drama pot is gonna explode at some point. And it's gonna have to happen at some point. It's gonna have to happen that they're not gonna be able to get the train back on the tracks. That being said, it's so hard to argue against how weak their division is. I really think that that division is such a fucking clown show. Their biggest rivals being the Dallas Cowboys is something that any football fan would crave over the last 20 years, to be totally honest. I think that we're gonna come on to talk about the Cowboys and the absolute mess that they are. And I've actually believed in them a couple times over the last few years. Um, I was trying to be a good friend, but it turns out you'd have to be absolutely off your rocker to believe that the Dallas Cowboys were gonna be a successful football team. We should have seen the signs. But I think that I think that the problem is um nobody is gonna compete with the Eagles this year. So that whatever flaws I think they have and whatever sort of uh stupidity that that that the guy driving the bus um is really is really containing, no one's gonna be there to really find them out um over the course of the season. So I I'd be willing to go as high as 12, but I'd be more comfortable with 11.
SPEAKER_00I'm way yeah, I'll go with 11. I like that.
SPEAKER_08Okay, great. 11 wins for the Eagles. I enjoyed that.
SPEAKER_03I also I also had 11 wins for the Eagles.
SPEAKER_08Hey, look at that. You should have been on our team. It should be everybody against Mike. He's that confident, honestly. Um, the uh maybe we'll do that next year. Um, Commanders, let's see, Commanders, Giants, Eagles. Let's go to the other end of the spectrum here and just talk about how the New York football giants are not going to improve as much as perhaps some of their uh fans might want to believe that they are. I think John Harbaugh alone does make me feel better about the prospects of the New York Giants. I'm more of a Harbaugh guy than others seem to be. The thing about Harbaugh is you criticize him based on his success, right? Like he's never a losing coach by any stretch. It's just a can he get you over the line question, right? So you can't confuse the two things. You do have to remember that he is gonna make a football team better, especially when you he comes into a four and thirteen situation. That being said, I think a six-win season for the Giants would be a success based on what that what they've looked like over the last few years. I'm kind of high on Jackson Dart. I'm I'm unsurprised uh to have learned about his politics over the offseason. I I that didn't shock me by any stretch of the imagination, considering his path to the NFL. Um but I do kind of have fun watching him play football. I he's he's he's a fun QB to watch. Um and I think that a smart head coach not putting his brain in a blender with every play that he runs is gonna be helpful to him, right? So Dable basically looked like he uh Jackson Dart had slept with his wife or something the way he was drawing plays up for him. So I, you know, I don't know what the fuck they were doing back then, but he was never gonna make it through the whole season. Um they added Tremaine Edmonds, who was a former Chicago Bear. I think if used correctly, he can be good. He's a little bit slow to the line, but it's fine. DJ Reeder, Darnell Mooney, uh Dexter Lawrence getting traded is bad for them, obviously. I mean that, but I don't blame the guy wanting to get out of there. Um, there's some big defensive questions. I think that they had a pretty, pretty good front seven last year, and they went four and thirteen, but they have Brian Dable as their coach. Switching this around, if neighbors and Scattaboo can come back, Scatabo, Scataboo, um, Cam, um, if if they can come back and play meaningful minutes in the second half of the season, I can see them getting the six wins, but I I think that'll be good for them. I think that would honestly be an improvement, and you're gonna start to see like what what the project actually looks like under Harbaugh. To expect him to get seven, eight, nine, double, god forbid, double digit wins right away in a situation like that. I don't think so. Um, let me see. You had them at four wins. I have them at six. I guess we could call it five and and just shake on them.
SPEAKER_00My only issue with with your assessment is that it's it's not gonna be Jackson Dart. As he said, every time he gets touched, he ends up in the blue tent. It's Jameis Winston. And I love James, he's fun to watch, but he's gonna throw as many picks as he does touchdowns. That's where I get my four wins.
SPEAKER_08Uh what do you mean it's not gonna be? Oh, you think he's gonna get rid of it? It's not gonna be Jackson Dart.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's gonna get hurt. He just he just uh in an interview the other day said he's every time I get hit, I end up with the blue.
SPEAKER_08I think you can I think you can protect him a little bit better though than last season. He was running headfirst into fucking giant men. Like every play was called the Jackson Darts brain injury. Like it was fucking all the shit they were asking him to do was absolutely borderline irresponsible. Like asking Tua to play football.
SPEAKER_00Asking Tua did not bounce his head off the ground. Don't be so good to Dable, though. He was hungry a lot of the time, so he had to think about food and football at the same time. Um, yeah, I I just I and you know what's funny? Because I'll I'll I'll get to it. I have them at four and thirteen. I feel very strong about it. I'm willing to go to five for you. I also have Harbaugh as coach of the year because I think that's a dick soccer contest. I don't think they actually picked the best coach, but I'll agree with you. It's a five five win season.
SPEAKER_08Okay, let's call it five for them. Let's call five. Uh who's last? Washington commanders. I think they'll have a bounce.
SPEAKER_04What'd you pick for Dallas?
SPEAKER_08Oh, did we uh did we come to the house? Oh, we haven't done oh, we haven't done Dallas yet. Sorry. Um, let's do the commanders really fast. Um, I think that they'll bounce back. I think Jaden Daniels is good. Um, I think he lost, I think he came down a couple of uh rankings in that in that QB class. Um it's a really good QB class, don't get me wrong, but I I mean what are you laughing at, Mike? You think you want to sit, you want to sit here and you you're the floor is yours if you want to tell me that Jaden Daniels is better than Caleb Williams. So you're well you're welcome to please put that on record.
SPEAKER_04You just see everything through the prism of Caleb.
SPEAKER_08Same draft cops as you fucking guys. It's I'm about to compliment your guy.
SPEAKER_04You don't need to, it's fine.
SPEAKER_03But I've never like thought that. I know I don't need to sit here and compare Drake made to anyone else in the quarterback class.
SPEAKER_00It wouldn't be fair to compare him, he's better.
SPEAKER_03I I don't well, first off, the Pats went to a Super Bowl before.
SPEAKER_08Uh he had a generationally bad playoff run. I mean, it was one of the worst I've ever seen. Right. It's like it's he's gonna get compared to them. Whether you do it or not, it's gonna happen. He's gonna be next to these guys in these comparisons for the remainder of his career. It's it's good that he had a good that he had that he came out of a good quarterback class. It's it's a good thing. Ranking those guys, I mean, I I'm not gonna I I refuse to have listened to Caleb Williams is a bust, and these other three guys are really good for as long as I did. And then when it's factual that Caleb Williams is not, I don't get to go on a little bit of a fucking like actually he's better than at least two of the guys that he came out of a draft class with. That doesn't seem fair. The comparisons exist, is my point. I'm not making them exist, they just exist. There, that's just how football works. So it's I I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that that our two guys came out of a really strong quarterback draft class. I think Jaden Daniels is good. I I genuinely think he's still really good. Um they added Austin Eckler, Debo Samuels, Zach Ertz. They they obviously believe in him too. They have a hundred-year-old, yeah, they have a hundred-year-old Bobby Wagner now on the other side of the on the other side of the ball. I don't know how much he has to offer left, but there's a lot of leadership. Um I think investing heavily in the defensive front was obviously a good idea for them. All that being said, they went five and twelve last year. That's tough. It's I it's tough for me to to turn to sit here and add that many games to despite the fact that they they switched some stuff up, and and you know, I think that they're I like Dan Quinn personally as a coach, and I think that uh I I can see the argument for why you have him as first coach fired, but I I do think he's a good football coach. Seven's the max I can get to with these guys.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I understand. I I think what's gonna happen is is I think Dan Quinn's gonna fuck this all up because he's not gonna know how to use the uh old, old talent that he's added to his team.
SPEAKER_08Uh you have him at 10 wins though. Where are they finding five wins?
SPEAKER_00Because you know, you can lose six games and then go on a run, and I think that that's what's gonna happen. I think if Jaden Daniels can stay on the field and start competing with Drake May and your boy again, then they could get to 10 wins. But in the interest of beating Mike, I'll just agree with you because you played this game a lot more than I have.
SPEAKER_03Well, all right well, I agree with you on the 10 wins, actually.
SPEAKER_00See Zach, we should have done this together. We we have fuck you. Me and you have almost agreed on most on most things.
SPEAKER_08They got a tough schedule. Let's let's let's run the schedule real quick, see how many wins we can find. Eagles, no, cowboys, yes, Seahawks, no, Colts, yes, yes. Let's do it. Giants, yes, 49ers, no, Eagles no. You can see 49ers?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Nah, I don't see it. I just I can't imagine it happening, but fine. We'll give them that fourth win. Uh Eagles, no, Rams, God no. Um we come on to talk about the Rams.
SPEAKER_04You think they're gonna get swept by the Eagles?
SPEAKER_08Yes. Um, it's not an automatic that you split with everyone in your division. Sometimes you lose both games. You know, um Rams, definitely not, Giants, sure, that's five. Bengals, no, Cardinals, yes, Titans, yes. Ooh, this is okay. Texans, no. Falcons, yes. Vikings, yes. Oh shit. Uh Jazz.
SPEAKER_02I love that David real time is like finding out about strength of schedule. He's like, oh shit, they actually play like shit teams during the year. They could win 10.
SPEAKER_0810 or 11, 10 or 11. All right, fuck it, 10. Let's let's go 10. Yeah, you were right. I'm so sorry. Yeah. Um, yeah, it's just, you know, it's funny because I what I did look at was like the strength of schedule grades of each team, like how everybody was grading them. But then you start to get into the actual granular thing and you start to look at who they're playing, you're like, I think every team is dog shit. Like, I only I only think like four teams are good, as it turns out. And you know why? And this is a theme that comes up every year when we do the NFL. And I'm really excited to do the NFL with you guys because there's a real consistent theme that comes up, and that's that there's this many good quarterbacks. There's this many in one hand, you can hold that, you can hold all the good quarterbacks in the NFL, especially over the last few years. So, unless you had uh, you know, Drake May last year, Pat Mahomes, one of these guys that you just have like I a guarantee of like he'll go out and find a way to win these games. There's ways to to imagine that these teams lose. Like it's just the way it is. So fun. Fun. I had fun doing that. 10 wins for the Washington Commanders. That's hilarious. All right. The Dallas Cowboys allowed 511 points last year. Um, any, I think, prediction for them really comes down to whether the defensive overhaul is real. Uh, I think Rashawn Gary gives them an actual pass rush. Obviously, the theme of their their year last year was that they gave up the best one of the best pass rushers in the league for peanuts. Um, first round safety, Caleb Downs, that's cool. Dag Prescott, I mean, I just don't think he's the guy. I don't necessarily think that that makes him a bad quarterback. I don't think that he's a guy who's ever gonna bring a championship to Dallas. I think we decided that a few years ago on the show, based on you know, watching him play football. Um, but importantly, he's not a bad QB. We can't we can't we can't just suddenly decide he's not top seven at the minimum, right? So if him and the offensive line stay healthy, there's enough offense to make a three-game improvement, I think. They were seven, nine, and one. Any team that draws is just like that's depressing. There's seven, nine, and one. I think I can find two more wins, and maybe the draw turns into a win. So eight wins or nine wins were like in that range. I don't know. You tell me.
SPEAKER_00I had him at eight wins, and I thought I was being super generous because Dak sucks. And uh no, he's Dak has all these these skill sets where he throws a tight pass. Yes, he can get away from the sex. Yes, he's he's fast, he's strong, he's tall.
SPEAKER_08But what's gonna have like a top he's had a top ten wide receiver every single year that he's played in the every single year of his career, and he's never done shit with it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so what are we talking about here? Plus, Marquez Valdez Gantling. How many last names did you get, pal? Get out of here.
SPEAKER_08Leave some last names for someone else, buddy. Okay, that's just greedy, fella. Uh yeah, that's fine. Yeah, I'm cool with eight wins. I'm I'll fuck it. I'd be cool with seven wins. Whatever you want to do on the cowboys.
SPEAKER_00Let's go seven. Fuck him.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, fuck him. Seven wins again for the Cowboys.
SPEAKER_04You think that the black Kirk Cousins and his team are gonna do seven wins. Seven wins.
SPEAKER_08Kirk Cousins was a great regular season QB. All right, in his day. That's just that's that's fact. He was it was just when the lights were bright in the playoffs. Yeah, exactly. So seven wins feels kind of egregious, I'll be honest. I think we should do eight. I really should come back. Eight wins final answer. Mike, final answer, go. Go ahead. Uh any any of the things.
SPEAKER_03Well, just I have Dallas winning week one in New York. I just I don't know, the vibes there just something aligns for me to say that Dallas could go into New York and win. Just throwing that out there.
SPEAKER_00I agree with you completely, and I think it's a fun division where these teams always bash each other to death. I just don't think the Commanders, Cowboys, or Giants are very good.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so you listed the Giants at 5-12. We're we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna steal them. Uh, and we're gonna go with uh did we decide eight and nine is actually eight and nine, yes.
SPEAKER_03We both had them at eight and nine.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_08The Giants are gonna improve four games. Yes, they're gonna win four more games just because of the game.
SPEAKER_04Yes, because yeah, because he will not design plays to get Jackson Dark killed, to your point.
SPEAKER_08They lost their best defensive player in the Austin.
SPEAKER_04Malik Neighbors is coming back, Scatterboo's coming back.
SPEAKER_08Oh, yeah, I know. That's a good thing. You can have that schedule.
SPEAKER_03And it's a bad schedule, too.
SPEAKER_08I mean, it's a now you guys have to spend the season believing in the New York football giants.
SPEAKER_04I know that's a bold position, boys. DK, read their schedule.
SPEAKER_03It's bad. No, it's bad. It's bad. It's very bad.
SPEAKER_04But they're the giants. They're very bad. Sure.
SPEAKER_03Uh read it. They're bad, but they're not very, very bad.
SPEAKER_00They're they're bottom, they're bottom third.
SPEAKER_08Okay, let's see. That's preseason. All right, so they start with the cowboys, and I think you just said they were gonna lose that game, right? Yep, lose that game.
SPEAKER_01Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_08I mean, he just said he just got done saying it. I gotta say. Uh the Rams, they're gonna lose. The Titans. Wait, I mean, that's I hope none of us have to watch that game. I'll put that out there. Oh my god. Fine. We'll give them that win. Cardinals, fuck it. I'll give them that win too. Commanders, that's the loss.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_08Saints, I think they're gonna lose that game. Texans, I think they're gonna lose that game. Eagles, they're gonna lose that game. Commanders, they're gonna lose that game. Jaguars, they're gonna lose that game. Colts lost.
SPEAKER_00I think it's gonna be a dog play for shit.
SPEAKER_08Loss. Seahawks lost, Browns, fuck it. You can give them that one. They've now had three. Lions lost, Cowboys lost, Eagles lost. We found three wins, guys. Good luck.
SPEAKER_04That was that was only up and up. I'm happy with that steal. All right, let's
AFC East Hate Draft And Stealing Jets
SPEAKER_04go. Same AFC East. AFC's. Uh Zach.
SPEAKER_00Deal Patriots 6 and 0. Sorry.
SPEAKER_05They're not gonna play their whole season.
SPEAKER_03Keep doing it. I have the Patriots at 11 and 6. Um, much tougher schedule, but I think this is where Mike Rabel may have gotten coach of the year last year, but I think this year is where it's really.
SPEAKER_08Didn't get a husband of the year, that's for sure. Sorry. No, that's the last one. Last one.
SPEAKER_03Hey, still married. Who'd have thought? Uh no pre-mediction. That was Bill Clayton.
SPEAKER_00Right. Guys, let's just all get it out there.
SPEAKER_03Diane Rossini, would 11 and 6. Um, I think this is where Vrabel really shines as a head coach. Last year was obviously easy schedule, injuries, luck, what have you. But I think this is where we're really gonna see Mike Vrabel and this this team shine. Um, it's gonna be tough. There's definitely gonna be some obvious losses like in Miami.
SPEAKER_04Um fuck that. Fuck that.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying in Miami, home again or the opener against Seattle that might get destroyed again. I'm sure they'll split against Buffalo again. Uh in Kansas City on Monday nights, it's gonna be a tough game as well. Uh, even though they have the Broncos at home, I still think that's a tough game, too. Um, so I'm confident with 11 and 6. Yeah, I had them 12 and 5.
SPEAKER_04Um for all the reasons that you just stated, but I think that we had he was listen, Drake May is not as bad as you as you saw in the postseason and and in the Super Bowl. He's I think he came down to earth a little bit, but I don't think there was a quarterback in the league last year that that had a better passer rating uh on passes that were in the air for 25 yards or longer. And now they have a really big target, an AJ Brown. Um I I do I think that 10 wins is more likely than 13. Yeah, so I I I can do 11 11 and six. Excellent. I love being right. It's great.
SPEAKER_08Well, you you gotta watch the season first before you can make that prediction.
SPEAKER_03But listen, I I'm right, I'm right when it comes to having Michael agree with me. That's really all it comes down to. If I can get him to agree with me on something, that's a win in my book.
SPEAKER_08But just like I had 10 minutes for the Pats, also, so I don't want to steal this. I don't know about you, man.
SPEAKER_00I had 17, but we'll good. We'll let's put that.
SPEAKER_08I do think Super Bowl hangovers are real. Uh I think losing the Super Bowl historically, like it is a real thing. I think the way you lost the Super Bowl, I actually see more as all right, we got here a little too early. Yeah. You know, we're a little ahead of schedule and not the sort of way people want to frame it, which is wow, they got their fucking asses kicked, they got dog walked. It's like, no, they just like met a better team in the in the championship game. It's one game, it happens. Um they have been there. I you know, I mean, they were, you know, they they made it, they made it to the game, so it is what it is. Like, no, nobody fucking beat them. So you Know you can say what you will about their strength of schedule last year, you can say what they would what you will about their strength of schedule in the in the postseason. Um, I think Drake May's a good quarterback. I think Mike Vrabel's a good coach. I don't think any of that's changed. Um, I think that Patriots hate based on the era of success that they went through is boring, and I think that it's I just I still I think they're about as good, if not a little bit better, and more experienced than they were last year. And if you put a little bit better against the strength of schedule, I think 10 wins is like completely feasible. So I I was I wanted to steal the pats from them, Matt, but I I just sort of agree with their take.
SPEAKER_00So I had 13, so I it doesn't feel like worthy of a steal.
SPEAKER_08I think 13's in play, you know. I really genuinely do. I think I think nine is in play, and I think 13 is in play.
SPEAKER_04So it's if you want to land where you land, that's but you would almost you you almost have to pick what 14 because if it's 12, then we we still have a point.
SPEAKER_08I think there's also some favorable things happening with your with your schedule. Like you play the Lions in Germany immediately, you get a bye week, and then you come back and play the Chargers. I think that's that's a pretty crucial little uh area to to look at. I think that you anyone that gets to play the Dolphins twice. Um, I know you think you're gonna lose one of them, but anyone that gets to play the dolphins twice is is wonderful, especially one of those games is week 18. And I don't know if you know about the dolphins in weeks that have two numbers in them, but it's not great. Historically.
SPEAKER_05Um they're like, it's cold. And they're it's like it's Miami.
SPEAKER_08And they're like, it's still colder than it should be, and then they just fall apart. Um, so there's that. You get to play the Jets twice, so there's that. Um I don't know. I I I I it's it's a definitively more difficult on paper schedule, but I mean, we took we talked about the Steelers, you play them week two. I don't think you're gonna beat the Seahawks week one, but you get a you have an immediate chance to bounce back with two wins in a row against the Jags and the Steelers, you know. So you could be two and one going into that Bills game. That's a divisional game. You never know what could happen. Then maybe you're three and one, maybe you beat the Raiders and the Jets, you're four, five, and one. I mean, like this shit could happen.
SPEAKER_03Maybe they're 16 and one. Who knows?
SPEAKER_00I hear I hear Super Bowl talk already starting here. That's what I hear.
SPEAKER_08They I mean, as a team, and I don't I don't want to get totally bogged down to the Patriots, but I mean this is a New England centric show. As a team, I think their goal should be the Super Bowl. I I I mean I think that they should be coming in saying, we just made it there last year. Like, let's see, you know, and I mean shit. If you can come out and punch the Seahawks in the mouth, you know, based on the fact that they're they're on a little bit of a victory lap right now, maybe the context, week one, you need revenge game. We'll see, you know, we're not that team anymore. We had this offseason. I don't know. It's really a mentality thing. Like it really depends on who they are. If you honestly are out there thinking that the Diana Rossini, Mike Vabel thing is gonna affect their uh their ability to win football games. I invite you to look at all of history over the last 20 years and how media scandals don't do shit anymore. They last about eight seconds now. Like this is not following him around. People are already bored of talking about it. Um, they didn't fire him. So, and you know, honestly, coaches and owners and players have all done worse. And Deshaun Watson's still gonna make like a billion dollars this year. So, like, I don't I don't know. It is it is what it is. I I'm not a Patriots fan, but I think we can all happily move on. It's boring now.
SPEAKER_04Yep, I agree. Uh the Bills. Uh I have the Bills at I had them at 11 and 6. Um, I just think you know they are they are a really good regular season team. Um, I I am intrigued to talk about them come playoff time, especially because of how they get rid of uh their their last head coach because he couldn't get to a Super Bowl. So now you've almost said that any coach that doesn't get to the Super Bowl with Josh Allen might be fired the next year. I think getting uh DJ Moore is a is a is a really huge thing for them. Um and they're just they're they're a good regular season team. I don't see any reason why that's gonna stop.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I am at 13 and four. Um I can I don't know. Not that I don't think it's like a dominant 13-4. I think they get I think they get beat by some legitimate competition like the Rams, um, the Bears. I got them down for a loss against the Bears, so there you go, Dave. Yeah, Dave. Yeah, you're welcome. Um I don't know.
SPEAKER_0412 and 5.
SPEAKER_03We can do 12 and 5, sure.
SPEAKER_04All right, so this is I think these are gonna be interesting ones. This is gonna be the most interesting. Jets.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I had them down for 0 and 17. No, you know. I sort of I went through the schedule.
SPEAKER_08I'm like, Well, you can't put them down for that because then you they can't win negative one games.
SPEAKER_03Right, which would be kind of cool if they did, but uh so I if anyone could do it. If they could do it, it'd be the Jets. Uh for the sake of this game, I would say put them down for one win, but what do you have them at? The Jets? Yeah. They suck, they're awful, terrible ass. Booty cheeks. I have them five and twelve. Oh boy.
SPEAKER_04Who who do you have them beating? Miami twice? Twice? Yes. Come on. I I I have the the Dolphins at 3 and 14. You think the Jets are gonna be better than the Dolphins? Yes, I think they get exponentially better in every at in every aspect aside from uh from from really quarterback. Uh but kind of an important position though. It didn't seem to matter for you to for the Falcons going fucking 14-3 for you, dude. So just sit sit down. Sit down for a second.
SPEAKER_08Fine, fine, fine, fine. I don't think Geno Smith is I think Geno Smith is one of the worst QBs we have, uh to be honest. He's really bad. Like he's really, really bad. So like that was one of the worst seasons I've ever seen from a QB.
SPEAKER_03So who all right? So you see them beating the Dolphins twice. Who else are they beating? Let me put the schedule here. I didn't, I didn't I didn't know if you'd be like to ask. I'm sorry, I have them down for exactly zero wins. So I was just kind of curious about your logic here.
SPEAKER_08All right, so they're overunder in Vegas is five and a half, just putting that out there if that helps anybody. So they open up the Titans.
SPEAKER_04I have them beating the Titans. No, losing yeah, losing to the Packers, losing to the Lions, losing to the Bears, uh, losing to the Browns, losing to the Patriots, beating the Dolphins, beating the Raiders, losing to the Chiefs, losing to the Bills, losing to the Chargers, beating the Dolphins, uh, losing to the Broncos, losing, uh, beating the Cardinals, losing to the Patriots, uh beat uh losing to the Vikings and beating the Bills because the Bills will be resting their shards at week 18. I still think that's the first one.
SPEAKER_03I will give you the only ones I will accept are week eighteen because why not? And then uh the Cardinals might be in competition for being just as bad. Okay, so three and fourteen. I can do three. This sucks.
SPEAKER_00Wait, what if you have the Bills? Wait, hold on what Mike, what did you have the Bills finishing? 11. Uh, we have them 12 and 5. And they're resting their stars at 12 and 5 with the Patriots in their division? I don't think so, pal.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I know the Patriots like the best team in the NFL of all time, but they're it's you know, I think they're 13 wins though. We have them at 11.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm sorry, never mind.
SPEAKER_04Somebody said 13.
SPEAKER_08I think we should steal this, Matt. I just think we should too. I think just from a for just from a strategy standpoint, I think there's a chance that just uh listening to him read that out. I think that there's a small chance, despite the fact that I'm probably gonna push for Aaron Glen being first coach fired um in a few minutes. I do think we can kind of hedge our bets here, just cover ourselves. Like if we would you guys pick in the end, three and fourteen. So we can't pick four, right?
SPEAKER_04Because you have to pick five or one. Five or zero.
SPEAKER_08No, because we we can't pick five, right? Because then if it's four, we both get the point. Yeah, no, yeah. So you have to pick six or zero. I think we go six. Yeah, let's just steal and pick six. Fuck it. Um, cool. We're gonna steal, we're gonna take the jets at six.
SPEAKER_00The jets are so annoying, they get these sneaky fucking wins out of nowhere. I just I feel it coming.
SPEAKER_08And they're you know, your division's not that good. Mostly because they're in it, but right. Well, and this next team, the the dolphins. Right.
SPEAKER_03So what'd you have them at? Uh I I had them at three and fourteen. I had them at seven and ten.
SPEAKER_08Oh, maybe we should have saved our steal. Who who is who's is it? Where are you getting seven wins? Where are you getting seven wins for the Miami Dolphins? I had them.
SPEAKER_03I I think uh Hold on.
SPEAKER_04Before we go through this before before you do this, before I do it. Just know, I mean, they lost literally everybody. Yep. Uh that uh Jalen Jalen Waddle's gone, obviously Tyree Hill's gone, two is gone, Bradley Chubb, gone, Mika Fitzpatrick, gone. Yep. Mike McDaniel, gone. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Mike McDaniel wasn't good, but okay.
SPEAKER_06I liked him. Yeah. It was fun.
SPEAKER_03I just think they could steal a few wins here. Yeah, Malik Willis. You again is just so good. But I've never said he was, but I said they could steal some wins.
SPEAKER_04Okay, go ahead. What wins would those be?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you have seven of them, so go ahead. I think week three against the Chiefs is uh sneaky uh steal. Just gonna throw if you want to be a betting man and throw money on uh Miami to cover week three, you should do it. Because Mahomes won't be back yet. So if you want to go ahead and make some money. Okay, okay. I'll go with your prediction, Mike, just for the sake of winning.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I think you should do that too. So uh I had them at three and fourteen. I'll I'll I'll I'll do four and thirteen. No, I'll do three and thirteen or fourteen.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_04He didn't really believe it. He never really believed in it. And fourteen. Perfect. All right. Uh so AFC East, we have bills 12 and 5, Paths 11 and 6, both the Jets at 3 and 14, and you stole the Jets for 6 and 11. Yep. All right.
NFC West Contenders And Injury Anxiety
SPEAKER_04West.
SPEAKER_08Final direction in the Cardinal map here. The West, the NFC West. We can actually talk about some decent teams here. Thank God. Um, despite the fact that there seems to be uh like a haunted power charging station in uh in San Francisco that's getting all their players injured all the time, and I don't think that's gonna stop anytime soon. Um, I'm fully have my conspiracy tinfoil hat on for that, by the way. They really got to move that training field because that would that's making all their muscles explode. But uh oh uh let's start with the Cardinals actually, just to get them out of the way because I think they're gonna lose this division. Um, the Cardinals I have at five wins.
SPEAKER_00Yep, I had them at four. Let's go with five.
SPEAKER_08All right. Uh Cardinals. Garbage, they suck. Don't have to talk about them anymore. At least they moved on from Kyler. It is what it is. Whatever. Moving on. Don't want to talk about them for the rest of the season, hopefully. Uh moving on to the San Francisco 49ers. I think they're gonna come in third, but I think they're gonna come in third with 10 wins. Um, I think that they this is a really tough division. It's gonna be a dog fight. I think that I still respect the sort of Shanahan of it all. Um, I still respect a lot of what that organization does and how they run their team. I think their roster is still really good. It's very dependent. It's really dependent on how many of those guys they can actually get on the onto the field. Um, I've always been a Brock Purdy believer. I I think he's a pretty good QB. I think he gets because of his style of play, I think he gets a uh a real kind of bad rap with this like system QB thing. You can be a system QB if the system's good, you know, and I think that they have a good offensive system. So um I'm gonna I I think 10 wins, but I'm I'm willing to be talked out of it just because it's this is the biggest punt I think we have in our in our entire predictions because they it's really so health dependent, you know, like it's it's so availability dependent with the with the 49ers this year. So it's really just betting on who they can get on the field and who they can't. But even even when guys go down there, they seem to be able to next man up a little bit and still sort of limp their way through these seasons, and and they're always a hard team to play. So I don't know, you tell me.
SPEAKER_00I'm actually a little upset with myself because I have them at 98, but look, I mean, their roster, I have another Madden problem. Like, there's just so much offensive talent on the field. I do want to go up to 10. I do want up to I do want to put them at 11, to be honest with you, but 10 sounds fair.
SPEAKER_08And they got Mike Evans now, that just seems like a great fit. There's there's always like wow, yeah, Kittle's still good, McCaffrey's still good, but it's like, does McCaffrey stay on the field for the whole season? I don't know. You know, like no, probably like more than likely if we're really making bets here. Um, I do think that they have some young depth that hopefully can actually stay healthy, but that they're also in a really tough division. I just think I'm safe at 10. You know, I just I think I'm like they're their over-under is nine and a half. So I think uh we just bet the over slightly. I think that's just to keep ourselves safe here. Um it could go generationally bad, but who knows? I know it's a crazy. This division's gonna be wild. I I don't have just moving right along, I don't have the champions winning this division this year. Uh I saw that. I have the Seahawks at 11 and 6 and the Rams at 12 and 5. We can talk about them in sort of a in a in a package here. I just yeah, I think the I think the Rams are really good. Like I think they're really fucking good. I think they're scary. Very talented. They're my pick for uh to at least go to the Super Bowl from the NFC this year. Um it's a really tough division, really, really talented Rams team. I've always really respected their head coach. I I think he's really smart and good at his job. Um the Seahawks are still really good, don't get me wrong. I mean, it'd be it'll be tough to sleep on them, but I can't give away three triple-digit wins and have two teams be at 12. And I think the Rams are gonna win 12. So saying the Seahawks are gonna be at 11 is more than I'm more sure about the Rams. Does that make sense?
SPEAKER_00I understand. Yep, and I also had the Rams at 12, but I had the Seahawks at 14, probably because I was so hard on San Francisco. That's probably where my San Francisco take came.
SPEAKER_08You want the Seahawks to be better than maybe they actually are because of the last game that we all watched competitively.
SPEAKER_00I don't I'm gonna be honest with you. I um it makes me physically ill to think about the Super Bowl because for some reason for me it hurt worse than the last Giants and Philly. So let's just not do that. Uh that has nothing to do with what I'm doing here. So I so how dare you, first of all. Second of all, I just don't think the Seahawks are done. I just don't think that defense is done. I think that they're still cooking and I think they're gonna be all over the place. I think the coaching staff over there is unbelievable. All right. So uh what do you want to do? I I okay, so we agree on 12 wins for the Rams. Sure.
SPEAKER_08You're at 11 for the Seahawks, yeah. But I mean, I I get it. You know, I I do get it. I was just I just feel like I've given up three fucking wins, you know. Like I look at my board, I'm like, the NFC is just gonna win every game.
SPEAKER_00I don't I don't I don't know the NFC is considerably more talented. You want let's break down the season? Let me pop their schedule.
SPEAKER_08Um, yeah, I mean I I do think the NFC has a lot of contenders right now, especially in the West.
SPEAKER_04Um I mean, Aaron Donald and Miles Garrett on the same fucking line, and it's gonna be so stupid. I know it's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_0812 wins is conservative, honestly, for the Rams, to be honest. But uh I can I could be talked into more wins for the Seahawks, and but let's just agree they split, right?
SPEAKER_00So Seahawks, Patriots, Patriots, we've got a win, right? We've got Cardinals, that's an easy win. Commanders, I think they're gonna beat the commanders, chargers. I think they're gonna beat the Chargers. 49ers, I'll give them I'll I'll say that they split with the 49ers. Um so I'll count that one as the win. So that's five. Broncos, six, Chiefs. That's gonna be a dog fight, or it could be that the Chiefs are really all done and that one's over. So I'll give them the loss there, but it it easily could be Bears. Um I don't want to say it out loud. I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I do I think they beat the Bears.
SPEAKER_08I think you're bears coming a fucking run for their money last season. I don't know. Just put it out there. It's like the craziest throw of the entire NFL season. Well, let's break it down.
SPEAKER_00It's a night, it's a night game in November, and you got the Bears traveling across country. So I'll give it to the Seahawks midway, you know. Right? Well, wait, what do you mean?
SPEAKER_08If the Bears are scoring 40 points a game up until that point, maybe it'll change your tune by that. I don't know, maybe just put it fucking out there just like so we'll we'll split on that one.
SPEAKER_00I'll we'll table that. But Cardinals is a win, Raiders is a win, 49ers. We said they'd split, so I'll give that one the loss. Cowboys is a win, Giants is a win, Eagles probably a loss, Rams. I'll I think they're gonna split with the Rams. Those teams are gonna dogfight all year long, and it's a Christmas game, and then Panthers is a win. So I I think we have them at 13. Okay, I'll go 12. 12.
SPEAKER_08I don't want them to both be at 12. That's we're gonna do it, means we're definitely gonna lose one of them, just like the math of those. Then it's a float, it's a float. Then give it then call it 14, then call it fucking 14. We're covered on both sides, honestly. Bring it all the way up to 14. It's a 14's a smarter bet just based on the how the game works, you know what I mean? Because like we had a we had a we had what four maybes in there, so you just pump the maybes up and you just say fuck it. What they win more than they lose in those maybes, and that's it. But they lose to the bears, right? 14 covers us on 13 and 15. So 14 and 3 for the Seahawks and 12-5 for the 12 and 5 for the Rams. I almost want to give the Rams 13. It's fine, move on. Wow. Wow, anything anything to say on our predictions there, guys?
SPEAKER_04All right. I think you guys are cute, though. I think you love the 49ers. I I I I I do think you have so much respect, almost too much respect for for the head coach. Um, and I just think if there's any team like if that that is like injury prone in the league, it has been the Bengals or the 49ers. And that's just been going on.
SPEAKER_08The 49ers also went out and got a bunch of injury prone guys when they were already injury prone, which is was insane. They're like, you know who we need? Christian McCaffrey. I was like, okay, yeah. I mean, you don't say no to that. I understand it, but like I'm just saying, yeah, they're injury prone as fuck.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, I mean, so you you finished just to be clear, you finished with them at nine and eight? No, I think we had 10 wins.
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Ten? Yeah. Oh. Oh, nine. Okay. All right, yeah. That's the only thing I would say. So I don't know if Mac Jones is is Mac Jones gonna make four or five of those wins again.
SPEAKER_08No. He sucks. I told you a long time ago he sucked when he was on the Patriots. I think my exact quote was uh Mike, he's gonna look great in a baseball cap with a clipboard on the sidelines. He's gonna be one of the better backups. And this is when he was playing relatively well for the Patriots. Um, it was one of my favorite, uh it was one of my favorite all-time predictions. So thanks for thanks for bringing that up.
SPEAKER_04You're welcome. It's when we can find debate. Uh all right, Zach.
AFC West Picks And Chiefs Without Mahomes
SPEAKER_04AFC West.
SPEAKER_03Alrighty. AFC West.
SPEAKER_04Let's just start with Kansas City. Let's just get this shit out of the way right now.
SPEAKER_03Well, can we get like the shit out of the way first?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because he's gonna start week one. Okay. Debatable. I'm not debating it. So it's kind of the whole thing. All right. Well, I I assume you have them at a very low win win total.
SPEAKER_03What would you consider to be very low?
SPEAKER_04When did you think Mahomes was coming back?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Like week five, six, six, seven.
SPEAKER_04So I have so you probably have them at eight wins?
SPEAKER_03Nah, I'm at nine.
SPEAKER_04Okay, well, I have them at ten. Okay. Okay, so you you also think that he's coming back again.
SPEAKER_08You guys just angrily agreed with each other.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so ten, so ten, so ten and seven for the Chiefs. You just described our relationship to it, T. We angrily agree with each other, yes. All right, uh, the Raiders. Oh, three and fourteen. Just hot garbage ass. That's what they are. Mendoza, like he looks shady. I am very I don't know. Is he? Is he not? No, that was it was Kirk Cousins. Well, whenever they decide to throw him in, I'm just so curious to see how he's actually gonna perform because yes, like Indiana had a historic season and it was a great run and a great story and all that, but there's nothing like there's nothing you can look at in his college career where you're like, Yep, that guy is definitely the number one overall pick. He just lucked into just a shit draft to a team that needed a quarterback, and they're like, let's take the guy that just won the national championship.
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, but dude, he can he takes control of the game.
SPEAKER_03You know what? That like combat's like that, um, and this is not shitting on you because like I've heard it about like Mendoza uh at in general. Like, oh, he he's a game manager. This guy wants to win. He talks about dying for his brothers. That sounds a lot like Tim Tebow.
SPEAKER_04Well, I know but he beat the Pittsburgh Seals in the playoff game.
SPEAKER_03Right. So you know what? Maybe a year or two when he's actually starting, the Raiders will beat some team in the playoffs and then get their dicks kicked in by the three and fourteen? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I had them at seven and ten. So five and twelve? Sure, I can accept five and twelve. Thank you, Almighty King.
SPEAKER_03You know, you when you say when we uh emphasize the fact that Kirk Cousins is going to be the starting quarterback, five and twelve. Five and twelve is very much Kirk Cousins like.
SPEAKER_04That means that he's gonna throw at least 10 touchdowns to Brock Bowers within the first four weeks before he gets injured or cut or bench. I'm I'm here for that. Yes. Uh okay. The Chargers. I I think Justin Herbert is softer than fucking baby shit. I always have.
SPEAKER_08It's true. You've always been down on him historically.
SPEAKER_04I just uh and I think it's the wrong harball out there. However, my biggest problem if we're trying to pick a record for the Chargers right now is I don't think they've done anything to build an offense around their star quarterback at all. Uh so I I have them at nine and eight. I have them at eight and nine. Alright, so you think seven wins is more probable than ten? Yes.
SPEAKER_03Otherwise, otherwise I wouldn't have taken them at eight and nine.
SPEAKER_04I think I I I just I don't know. I don't know if I don't believe that, but I'll I'll give that to you. Now give me Denver.
SPEAKER_03Uh 13 and 4.
SPEAKER_04Um do I we'll just put him down for 12 and 5. That's I had them at 11 and 6, and they're not winning 14 fucking games. Fuck that coach. And I I still don't even like Bill Nick Bo Nicks. I hate him actually.
SPEAKER_03No, I don't I don't think so either. I think it's yeah, I think it's a mix of a somewhat favorable schedule and um killer defense. Yeah. All right. It's not really an impressive 13-4 in my eyes. I mean, you always it's 12 and 5 now, so we're that's fine. Again, I'm giving you my reasoning for my pick, Michael. So, you know. I don't so now it's I I don't think we look at it as a strong 12 and five. So there we are. No. No, we don't. You didn't?
SPEAKER_08I think I think you're uh uh just uh just uh put in my two cents there on those predictions. I think I think that the most talented person that has anything to do with the NFL over the last 25 years is Kirk Cousins' agent. I don't understand how that man keeps getting the contracts that he's getting. I don't I don't understand how he ever did, but the fact that he's still on a contract, I mean it's just nuts to me. Um that being said, I agree with everything you said about the Raiders. Uh I I don't know. I I think it's that I want that Chargers experiment to work out. Like I just want it to work out, so I'm gonna say that it's gonna. And they have this really sneaky thing that I look at every year. Who's the team that travels the least amount of miles? And this year it is the Chargers. Being a Southern California team and not having to really go anywhere is a huge advantage, I think. Um, they're not gonna really be put through the ringer, and they start their season with the potential for like a good amount of momentum. So I would I would have aired more on the the 10-11 wins for the Chargers, to be honest. Um, but otherwise, I'm pretty much in agreement with you guys. And I've never seen two people agree with each other um that aggressively before. Like you didn't sound like you were agreeing with each other, but you agreed with each other every step of the way right there on the on that division. So that was fun to listen to. But otherwise, yeah, great, great work, everybody.
MVP And Awards Predictions Rapid Fire
SPEAKER_08Um, do you guys want to rattle off just we'll go MVP for MVP, we'll go offensive player of the year for offensive player of the year. We'll just like run through these really fast.
SPEAKER_04Um can we start seeing as you started with? All right, so you want to start with MVP, Zach? Sure. I I had Joe Burrow.
SPEAKER_03I had Matthew, I have Matthew Stafford. I mean, and the best thing is like I so I actually think that the Rams like are gonna make a push for a perfect season. I think they'll finish 16-1. Uh and I think Stafford will win MVP despite the fact not being the best player on his team either. It's just they always give it to a quarterback and they'll have a great team and all that. I just don't see Burrow getting MVP votes or becoming MVP. Like they're gonna have to really play out of their mind. And just they can't do it, especially under that coach, too.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so if I give you this one, will you give me the offensive uh player of the year?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, sure. Okay, okay. Wow, you guys pronounce Drake May funny, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_08Matt, who do you want to be the MVP?
SPEAKER_00Drake May.
SPEAKER_08Can I offer an alternative? Who you got? Oh yeah? Come on, buddy. Come on, buddy. He's on the cover of the game, friend. Let's see it happen. He's already got a signature throw. He's already got a signature throw, Matt.
SPEAKER_00Come on. Let's do it. Let's do it for real. You got a quarter or something? Let's flip a coin and we'll go with it.
SPEAKER_08I don't, I don't, I don't want Caleb Williams to be to be my named MVP. Oh, you already did. Yeah, you do.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you do. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Tails never failed, baby. Hence it's Caleb. Tails, it's Drake. Guess what? It's Drake May.
SPEAKER_05Um he threw the coin away. He had me the whole way. That's fine.
SPEAKER_08Make it Drake May. That's cool. I'm good with it. Um, we don't need those points. Uh, we'll be fine. Um, offensive player of the year. Go ahead, guys. Jameer Gibbs. Mike gets the pick.
SPEAKER_04Jameer Gibbs.
SPEAKER_06That's it. Good pick.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that's it. That's all I need to say. No, I I love the pick. I think it's great. All the production that he's had over the last three years, and now he's not splitting with David Montgomery anymore. Like, he is he's he's just gonna. I think his touchdowns are gonna go up. I love it. I'm here for it.
SPEAKER_03He's also the uh betting favorite for um offensive player of the year. By like a lot, yeah, very much.
SPEAKER_08I'm down to just take the next man up and take Bijan, or if you want to try to like shoot the gap, maybe Jackson Smith and Jigba. I I don't know. What do you think?
SPEAKER_00So I I I understand why you wouldn't say AJ Brown, but I'm gonna say AJ Brown. Um, no, honestly God, uh I'm sorry. I I think honestly, if we want to take an outside shot here because they have the clear favorite, I think Jamar Chase could have a big, big season this year.
SPEAKER_08Okay, that's fine. Let's do it. Let's do it. I I'd like to support that happening. That would be fun for me. So let's let's call it Jamar Chase. I think they're gonna beat us, but that's fine. That's fine. Um okay. Uh go ahead, guys.
SPEAKER_04Miles Garrett. Zach Garrett. Any objection there? Yeah, nope no.
SPEAKER_08We're just getting scooped here. Yeah, dude. Why would we let him pick first on this one? We should have alternated. Doesn't matter. It's so much harder to get these points, to be honest. Like it's it's actually kind of rare that that we get these. Um, we'll see. Who are you thinking? Say it on the country. One, two, three, Aiden Hutchinson. I guess that's probably the best next best. Uh hear me out.
SPEAKER_00Hear me out. His line is stacked. He's gonna get much more free this year than he did last year. That I think they're gonna run away with their with a lot of wins uh in a bad schedule. I I bad schedules mean bad offensive lines. That's what that means. So I think Aiden's got a real shot at doing something special this year.
SPEAKER_06Okay, fine.
SPEAKER_08I don't really have any any other anyone to like mount a defense against you. I think it's probably gonna be Miles Garrett. Um, what about Will Anderson? Texans. He made a case for it last year, and that Texans defense is in in good is in good nick, I think. So I I mean there's Max Crosby.
SPEAKER_00I'm down to do that. I'm down, I'm down to do no, I don't think Crosby this year. I think he's gotten too much on social media. I don't like that from defensive players. Um, but I'm down to do Anderson because I think that CJ Stroud's gonna get that offense off the field a lot, and more plays means more points towards that vote.
SPEAKER_08All right, fuck it. We'll take Will Anderson then. He's the next betting favorite, so I'll take it. Um, all right, go ahead. Uh wait, who's next? Sorry. Uh offensive rookie of the year.
SPEAKER_04So I I picked uh Carnell Tate. I just think it's it's it's usually uh that this happens. It's a good player on a bad team. I don't think there are gonna be many teams that are worse than the Tennessee Titans. Um so I'm here for that. Zach?
SPEAKER_07Yep, completely agree. That's good.
SPEAKER_08I wanted Jeremiah Love, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00Um, I'll I'll give Jeremiah Love. The only other thing I was gonna say isn't he out of those first four weeks?
SPEAKER_08He's got like a high ankle sprain, I think. I think I don't think that that's gonna take him out for that long, right? Yes, I doubt it.
SPEAKER_03First four weeks are food gazing anyway. Yeah, it's fine.
SPEAKER_00It's true.
SPEAKER_07Having said that, then Dozo's not a bad option. He's like not a starter though. Like he can't he's going to be though. I know, but like you're doing a lot of predicting there. I I don't think he's gonna win I don't think he's gonna win rookie of the year. Sorry. All right. Um pretty sure Jeremiah Love's out until like October.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, so is my ankle.
SPEAKER_04No.
SPEAKER_08Uh I mean that's fine. I still think he's gonna win rookie of the year. Um okay, we'll take Jeremiah Love. All right, moving right along. Defensive rookie of the year. Zach, Arvell Reese, any objection?
SPEAKER_03None at all. Love that talk.
SPEAKER_04Want to tell us why?
SPEAKER_03Do you want me to tell you why?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, I don't want to. Great. We'll talk yes, so please do.
SPEAKER_04Uh being paste, sent. I think he's just he he's just the the the bona fide defensive uh draft pack. Like we we all uh everyone saw him, and we're like, okay, he's like I guess just gonna be a fucking killer, and I don't see any reason why that that's not gonna play out. Thanks, Zack. Just be happy, I'm agree with you.
SPEAKER_08The Bears safety.
SPEAKER_00I well, I mean, I think like the betting money goes to the white safety, he's either gonna be a complete bust or he's gonna be the best fucking player in the league next year.
SPEAKER_08It's boomer bust time, baby.
SPEAKER_00He's a white safety until we get DEI out of football. I'm just kidding. I'm sorry. My only thing is Ruben Bain Jr. is gonna be an animal down there in Tampa. He's a beast. All right. I mean, I'm willing to go with you. You went with me for drink, Bane. I'm riding with you.
SPEAKER_08All right, great. Fuck it. Let's do it. These are fun points. Dylan Feynman.
SPEAKER_06Um take Bane Jr. Coach of the Year.
SPEAKER_04You guys are up. John Harbaugh is my pick. But I don't know about Zach.
SPEAKER_03I uh so see, I think the Cowboys are gonna win their division, and so I think it's gonna be Schottenheimer. You I'm not saying that necessarily he's gonna be like a great coach or anything, but like I think they'll somehow win the division, sneak past the Eagles somehow, some way, and the voting committee will be like, oh wow, like yeah, and then and then Jerry Jones will sit there and be like, see, like, look, I made the right hiring choice. Okay, that's good logic. I mean, like the the Harbor picks, obviously, very I think that's the most logical one, of course.
SPEAKER_04But so why the fuck would we pick it when we have first choice? You're right. Let's just give them the point. Good on you. Yeah, let's go with Schottenheimer. I guess let's go.
SPEAKER_08I was gonna make a case for Jesse Minter, but we'll take Harbaugh. If you guys are gonna take him, it's fine.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, excellent. You know, the point is to fucking win here, Zach.
SPEAKER_08Okay, now we did it!
SPEAKER_04No, first coach fired.
SPEAKER_08Oh right.
SPEAKER_04I have Zach Taylor, and I'm overruling your picks.
SPEAKER_08I'm overruling your picks.
SPEAKER_03Dude, I had the Vikings going one and sixteen. I was gonna say Kevin O'Connell.
SPEAKER_04Nope. Nope. Fucking Zach Taylor. Uh because if Burrow does get hurt, or if they if they start off their usual one and three and everybody's healthy, I think that they'll fire them and they'll let Burrow go on the run.
SPEAKER_03Right, but like you're also you have Burrow. You were gonna have Burrow as your MVP.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, but I didn't take that to that. But you were going to. Yeah, but I didn't. So I'm just here with the facts. Uh I think Burrow could play the entire year. And if they start slow, and he still plays well, but their defense can't stop anybody, they're gonna fire the head coach because this is what he does four years in a row. I can see the logic, just putting it out there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's the same logic that I use, Dave, for arguing for Dan Quinn. I think if they start slow, he was a placeholder to begin with, they're gonna get him out of there. Somebody less bald, the more attractive.
SPEAKER_08It's not, it's not gonna be Dan Quinn. It's they're not, it's it's you gotta think about the ownership structure. They're not, they love him over there. They're not gonna fire him first. They're not gonna fire him. He was just a placeholder for them. You can pick, you can pick between Todd Bowles and Aaron Glenn. Um I I have to refuse on on uh on Dan Quinn.
SPEAKER_00Todd Bowles.
SPEAKER_08Great.
SPEAKER_07Settled. God really hope Dan Quinn's not the first one fired next time. If it's Dan Quinn, I'm gonna lose my fucking mind.
SPEAKER_08It's not gonna be, don't worry. Um right when we get off this podcast. Breaking news! Dan Quinn caught sleeping with Diana Rossini. Um, fired by the gets promoted. Oh boy.
Final Thoughts And Season Tease
SPEAKER_08All right, well, we did it. We did it. We we we predicted, we came, we saw, we predicted. Um, we are recording this, I think, a week before it's actually gonna get released. So if anything really crazy happens, uh sorry. Um, we're gonna release this week last year's prediction show just to show how right or wrong we were. Uh, then next week, um, in our timeline, just to keep up with the Doctor Who of it all, in our timeline, you'll be listening to this a week from now. And then uh we got a special interview to kick the season off, I think. And um, then we're gonna be fucking neck deep, gentlemen, in football season. And I gotta tell you, there's no place I'd rather be. I cannot wait to mainline football this coming uh two Sundays from now. It's gonna be absolutely unbelievable. Well, two two two I'm gonna you don't mainline on Wednesdays, you get one game. You in order to really do the heroine of football, it has to be Sunday. Um, but yeah, I'm very excited. Um, apparently we play football every single fucking day of the week now, which I don't know, it's hard to argue with. I kind of love it. Um, the NFL season is on the horizon. We predicted. We're married to these predictions now, for better or worse. They're our old ball and chain. And uh I can't wait to talk to you guys about football all season long. Thank you guys so much for listening. This has been this.
