NFL Week 6 Power Rankings: Drake Maye & Patriots SURGE, Bears Collapse, 49ers Stay No. 1

The 2026 NFL season is starting to separate the contenders from the pretenders, and this week’s Missing the Point NFL Power Rankings bring arguments, overreactions, humiliations, and two more teams officially sent to the playoff graveyard.

The San Francisco 49ers remain No. 1 after surviving a wild 32-29 battle with the Seattle Seahawks. Brock Purdy continues to look electric, San Francisco keeps overcoming injuries, and the 5-0 Niners are beginning to put real distance between themselves and the rest of the NFC West.

Meanwhile, the New England Patriots suddenly look dangerous. After upsetting Buffalo, New England followed it up by destroying the Las Vegas Raiders 45-17, with Drake Maye throwing for 374 yards and four touchdowns while adding another score on the ground. We break down Maye’s incredible turnaround, Josh McDaniels’ role in rebuilding his confidence, whether the Patriots are ahead of schedule, and just how seriously the AFC should be taking New England.

Then comes the pain.

The Chicago Bears got absolutely flattened by the Green Bay Packers, 31-7, in a game that forced Dave to reconsider several weeks of optimism. Jordan Love torched Chicago’s secondary for 367 yards, Tyson Bagent struggled, and the Bears suddenly looked a lot further away from contention than they did seven days ago. With Caleb Williams expected back, Bears-Falcons becomes a massive response game.

The Minnesota Vikings are still sitting at a perfect 5-0, yet Matt continues to disrespect them in the rankings. Dave argues that an undefeated team with an elite defense deserves much more credit, while Matt continues looking for reasons not to buy in.

Elsewhere around the league, the Baltimore Ravens somehow survive without Lamar Jackson thanks to a ridiculous Tyler Huntley comeback, Derrick Henry turns overtime into a demolition derby, and the Pittsburgh Steelers force Matt into the deeply uncomfortable position of admitting they might actually be good.

The Jacksonville Jaguars keep proving their 4-1 start is legitimate after beating Philadelphia in London. Trevor Lawrence continues to look confident, Jacksonville’s defense keeps traveling, and the Jaguars are becoming one of the most convincing contender stories in the AFC.

We also debate whether the Denver Broncos belong anywhere near the top 10, what happened to the Las Vegas Raiders after their 3-0 start, whether Cincinnati is being ranked too high, and why the Buffalo Bills somehow keep winning without ever making anyone feel particularly comfortable about them.

The NFC East provides this week’s finest comedy.

The New York Giants and Washington Commanders finish tied 27-27 after Washington reaches potential game-winning field-goal range in overtime and then somehow allows the clock to expire before attempting the kick. It was one of the funniest endings of the NFL season, and it was enough for the Commanders to earn an immediate place on the Missing the Point Cross-Off List.

The Rams also manage to turn special teams into performance art. After a brutal kicking performance in their overtime loss to Buffalo, Harrison “Thiccer Kicker” Mevis was cut less than a day later, proving once again that the NFL is a cruel business and apparently not even being built like a nose tackle can guarantee job security as a kicker.

And, most importantly, the playoff graveyard gets bigger.

The current Missing the Point Cross-Off List is:

Los Angeles Chargers
Tennessee Titans
Miami Dolphins
Washington Commanders
Arizona Cardinals

The New Orleans Saints narrowly escape execution for another week, mostly because the NFC South is such a disaster that being terrible somehow still leaves you in the divisional race.

We also get into the Packers’ massive rise, the Eagles’ continued collapse, Jalen Hurts’ reluctance to attack the middle of the field, the Cowboys’ disastrous defense, Detroit quietly heating up, Atlanta being better than its record, the Rams sitting at a dangerous 2-3, and the biggest games to watch heading into NFL Week 6.

If you’re looking for NFL Week 6 Power Rankings, 2026 NFL Power Rankings, Drake Maye Patriots analysis, New England Patriots news, Chicago Bears vs Packers reaction, Brock Purdy and the 49ers, Minnesota Vikings 5-0, Jacksonville Jaguars playoff predictions, NFL playoff picture, NFL Week 6 picks, or NFL teams eliminated from playoff contention, this episode has you covered.

Subscribe to Missing the Point, tell us which ranking Matt got most wrong, and let us know which team should be the next one officially CROSSED OFF.

Wild Week Six Opening Takes

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to the Missing the Point NFL Power Rankings, where the 49ers are still undefeated. The Vikings are somehow 5-0 and still being treated like they're laundering wins through an offshore count. The New York Giants and Washington Commanders just gave us the funniest ending to a football game since the invention of the butt fumble. Washington had the ball in field goal range, 12 seconds left in overtime, no timeouts, and apparently the collective situational awareness of me trying to close at a bar tab after 12 martinis. Jaden Daniels takes the play. Everybody scrambles around, the clock hits zero. The commanders discover in real time that you cannot attempt the game-winning field goal after the game has ended. China's 27, Commander's 27. We have our first tie of the year, which everyone should be embarrassed about. Nobody wins. Everyone involved should have to stay after and retake football one-on-one. But meanwhile, even funnier, I thought, uh, the Rams lost an overtime thriller to Buffalo because their kicker, Harrison Meavis, the uh actual thicker kicker, uh, fat fuck number one, missed one field goal and had the potential game winner blocked, and less than 24 hours later, um, Sean McVay sent him to indeed.com. Meavis is built like an NFL kicker, uh, less like an NFL kicker and more like the guy who should be threatening the kicker for his lunch money, and somehow he still managed to get fired for not kicking hard enough. The Rams replaced a 245-pound kicker with Blake Group, which means group, groupie, which means uh Los Angeles apparently reviewed the tape and decided the problem with special teams was too much special and not enough teams. And listen, before I get too comfortable laughing at anybody, yes, my Chicago Bears got absolutely pants 31-7 by the Green Bay Packers. Tyson Bajan currently has zero touchdown passes and three interceptions this season, which is unfortunate because his dad, Travis, is one of the greatest arm wrestlers on planet Earth. The man has won approximately 9,000 arm wrestling championships, yet apparently nobody in the Bajing household ever sat Tyson down and explained that having a strong arm and throwing the ball to the correct color jersey are two separate skills. Maybe Travis needs to take a page from the Tom Brady parenting manual and introduce a little bit more deeply uncomfortable Brady level pregame affection. One more kiss on the mouth before kickoff, and maybe Tyson sees the safety rotating over. That's where we are. That's where we are, Matt. Entering week six. Three teams officially Tom Brady.

SPEAKER_01

Tom Brady needs whatever the fuck he wants.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. That's fair. That's fair. Uh R.

SPEAKER_01

Kelly's a bad guy.

SPEAKER_00

Uh three teams officially dead and crossed off. Minnesota undefeated. It's still disrespected. New England suddenly looking terrifying again. Green Bay rising from the grave. The Giants leading a division nobody understands. The Bears reminding me that happiness is temporary, and being a Chicago football fan is a pre-existing condition. So grab a shovel for the Chargers, Titans, and Dolphins. They're already getting cold. Somebody buy the commanders a clock. Somebody buy the Rams a new kicker and a salad in honor of the fallen thicker kicker. And somebody please get Caleb Williams' handstring wrapped in whatever experimental German horse placenta Aaron Rodgers used to use. These are the Missing the Point Week Six NFL Power Rankings. And as always, Matt has ranked them. And I'm just here to explain why he's wrong.

Switching To Division Rankings

SPEAKER_00

So we're going to do it a little bit differently this week, Matt. Things are starting to take shape. We're going to go by division. Just because it's starting to actually matter. These teams are starting to really take shape. These divisions are starting to take shape and become competitive. And honestly, a lot of them are closer than I kind of thought. So looking at it from this point of view is, I think, a little bit better.

AFC East Bills Pats Jets Check-In

SPEAKER_00

We're going to cross off some more teams today, but I don't think we're going to cross off any teams, any more teams, I should say, in our first division, which is, of course, the AFC East. The Buffalo Bills lead this division at 4-1 after a thriller that did not leave me feeling any better about their defense, Matt. A brief chat about the Buffalo Bills. You have them at number four on the power rankings. Last week they were number six. I think it's fair. They moved up two spots. I think the teams above them are fair. It was a chaotic game, but it was a hell of a team that they beat. Another Super Bowl contender. They're playing the Las Vegas Raiders next, a team you guys just absolutely stomped. So what do you say? What do you say about this Buffalo Bills team? I mean, you got to play them again, but you did hand them their own yellow of the season. So how are we feeling? I'm excited to play them again.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't feel convinced by it at all. I think James Cook might actually be placing bets against himself the way he's holding on to the ball. I mean, it's fucking outrageous. Um yeah, I'm really not I'm not impressed by the Rams or the Bills. The Bills have to be where they are, the power rankings, because where what else are you gonna do with them? You can't drop them below six, they belong in the top four. Um, but man, that they do not look impressive to me. Don Kincaid, he's top of the league. I mean, there's not much you can say about that. Um Allen just figures out a way to do it even when he looks like he can't. Um and they beat a really, really anemic looking Rams team. But yeah, I'm not I'm not even a little worried about these guys. It looks like they went and got a worse coach because they couldn't win a Super Bowl, which is fucking hilarious. I appreciate the effort points.

SPEAKER_00

That's funny. Uh yeah, I don't know. There is something decidedly unconvincing about them, and I I am starting to get a little bit annoyed with the like Josh Allen throws an interception if it was anybody else. Oh, that wasn't such a smart play. And the announcer is being like, Did you see what he did there? He basically throw punted it. It was so smart. It's officially come full circle. He gets that treatment now, and I'm like, guys, we can say he made a mistake. Like he's electric when you watch him play. I get it. Like he makes really good decisions most of the time. When he fucks up, can we call a spade a spade? Like for one time, just yeah, he doesn't look great. Yeah. The New England Patriots are number seven up from number 10. Uh a three three point position jump, which I think is fair. I think they have my attention. Um, they followed up the Buffalo Road upset, when it was at the time an upset, uh, by obliterating Las Vegas 45-17. Um, 536 yards. May went for 26 to 34 for 374, four passing TDs, and another rushing TD. He has flipped his season, honestly, in a way that I've maybe never seen. I I it's I'm really struggling to think of a quarterback that went from such heights to such lows to such heights again. I'm not going to overreact entirely, and uh I I am, I should say please do listen to the MTB Boston this week if you want a more detailed analysis of the New England Patriots. Mike Kenzak did a great job on that show. But I mean, you are a Patriots fan, Matt, and I'm I'm sure you want the platform to speak on them a little bit. Seven picks and two loss fumbles through his first three and a half games. He has six passing TDs, no interceptions, no fumbles over the last six quarters. The early season mess prevents me from pushing them much. Uh seems to have prevented you from pushing them much higher yet. But number seven is no longer insane. And they're playing the Jets next, so it could be four and two coming into next week's power rankings. Talk to me about your New England Patriots.

SPEAKER_01

It ought to be. Listen, I think when you're dealing, and me and you are both going through this in very different ways at the moment. When you're dealing with a young quarterback, they're going to have you know ebbs and flows. Like they're going to have times where they look like they're ready for the prime time, and then they're going to have times where they look like they're shaken beyond belief. It's what they do next that matters in both of those scenarios. And what you're seeing is Drake May cried on the sideline, lost control. He was out of this thing, and then he turned it back around. He's doing the smart things. He's listening to his coaches, he's making the right throws. And, you know, I'm not, I'm really not overhyped about beating Oakland. But when you look at their numbers, I mean Oakland's number five in takeaways. Well, I'm trying, I'm sorry. They're Oakland, and I'm not gonna play this game with you. Don't say it again. Uh Oakland was number five in takeaways, they're number nine in overall defense. You know, it was a defense that, yeah, they played a lot of bad teams, but they were playing them really well. I think me and you have said for years really good teams smoke bad ones. And I see that happening here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, you can only play as put in front of you. You know, I I I don't love the uh the argument when that people make when it's like, oh, well, yeah, don't get too hyped, you beat the Jets. Don't get too hyped. It's like, I don't know, man.

SPEAKER_01

Like this is the fucking show, baby. Everybody out there's being paid to be here. So I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_00

Also you will come you will come for a motherfucker if they lose to these teams too, right? Like it's that like and you and you very rarely hear someone be like, well, you lost, but you lost to you know the Bills. Or you're it's it's not that big of a deal. Everybody loses to them. We try to factor that in here, but we're special and unique snowflakes. Listen, I'm just from a neutral point of view, I'm I have no ability to predict where this New England Patriots season is gonna go. I've I've officially seen them look like two completely different teams. I think they're not Super Bowl contenders. I my my gut leads me to believe that they were ahead of schedule last season. If they made it to like the AFC divisional or AFC championship game this year, I think that would be still way ahead of schedule with where May is on his development. I think it shows, and I did say this to you, I think a guy his age, with the level of scrutiny that somebody plays quarterback, especially somebody who plays quarterback in New England, for all the context there, is under to be able to mentally come back from how fucking terrible he was at the start of the season. Like, really, it really, and I don't think I was completely out of line saying right now he looks like a fucking bust. Like it looks like his brain is broken and he's not gonna come back from this. That all that being said, I I really give have to give a lot of credit, and I know this was talked about a lot on the on the MTP Boston side. I have to give a lot of credit to Josh McDaniels. I think that like he's not a head coach, and I I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with that. I think we've talked about this many times on this on this particular show. Some guys are just coordinators, and he's one of the best to do it, to be honest, because I think he really put Drake May in a position to get his mojo back. He didn't ask him to do too much against the Bills, but he still knew he had to go and win the game uh from the quarterback position, and he did that. And then I think he really let him shine in this game. He really saw a lot that he could exploit against Oakland, Las Vegas, and he let May be May again, you know, and and and I meant I mean that in a positive way this time. I but again, I just don't know. Like, I I would I be that surprised if you guys beat the Jets and then I saw you lay another absolute fucking stinker after that. Like, no, I don't I don't think that I would. If you can put together a winning season, though, on the back of how May started, what Kraft's tomfoolery was in the offseason, what Rables shenanigans were in the offseason, if you can put together a winning season, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Every time every time he would.

SPEAKER_00

If you can put together a winning season, if you can put together 10, 11 wins this season and and we'll see what happens in the playoffs from there. I think that's incredibly impressive. Honestly, I I think most teams would would fold considering the context and and the pressure that you're under. So we'll see.

SPEAKER_01

I completely agree with you as a fan. I mean, the realistic part of me that gets to come talk to my best buddies about sports every week knows that. Like this is this is a team that looks like they're a little bit ahead of the cart here. Um, and when you look at their injuries, it's not nothing is shaping out here for you know an amazing season at the end. But that little boy inside of me watching Tom Brady is starting to think about where the parade goes. Where are we going? Where am I standing? Am I getting a hot dog or a pretzel? Maybe both. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

We'll find out. I know, I know. We have talked about you eating children in the past, and I really wish you would stop doing that. Uh, but I understand that you go to the remedial schools now, and we're not there are no great losses, and and mama's got to eat, right? But I get it. I do understand. But at the end of the day. Um at the end of the day, New York Jets. Let's have a very, very brief conversation about them. They're number 25. Last week they were number 26. I think this is pretty fair uh fair. They finally stopped the slide with a very grimy 17-12 win over Cleveland. I'm gonna be 100% honest with you. I red zoned this one. I did not watch this game. Um I'll tell you there's some important stats from it, and we can move on. Brayley Allen ran for 116 yards. The defense produced eight sacks. That's something. Um, a botched Browns punt helped create it the decisive fourth quarter opportunity at 2-3. The Jets are not a cross-off team just yet, but they're always on the on the radar for that. Nothing about their offense makes me ever want to trust them, and they're playing the Patriots next, which is which is looking like a buzzsaw. It's a big divisional game for both teams. Beating the suddenly scorching Patriots would completely change the Jets conversation, I think, and we can actually talk about them in a more serious way next week. But I am sort of glad that they uh stopped the bleeding on maybe Deshaun Watson is back. I I I hope that we can sort of long may that continue to not have to talk about him. Um just as a preview for next week, uh, is there any sort of nerves going into playing the Jets? Uh or do you just feel like you guys have this one in the bag and a real test is around the corner?

SPEAKER_01

As I'm talking to a man with a who is watching a Scorching Heart team play his lifelong nemesis in the Packers, I mean, you're always nervous against your rivals. You're always nervous against the divisional game. It doesn't make sense. None of it makes sense. They're divisional teams. They are designed for each other in a lot of ways. So yeah, I don't feel I don't ever feel confident playing the Jets unless uh they have some sort of playoff view on the line.

SPEAKER_00

And it always works out well for us because that's just the way it goes. Yeah, don't give it to the Jets, they'll fuck it up. That's that's fair.

SPEAKER_01

That kid, David Bailey, had three sacks in that game. He's a rookie. That's that's impressive shit right there. I'm I'm proud of the Jets. I think they're making teams play their game, and winning ugly ones is something that you don't see the Jets do. So it's a big win for them, I think. Cleveland was kind of.

SPEAKER_00

Participating in ugly ones, I've historically seen the Jets too. Like being involved in ugly ones.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, dogfight, not just an ugly one. Yeah, we've got our butt fumbles, we've got our seeing ghosts.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I'm not gonna talk about the dolphins because I'm actually gonna wait until we talked about the Cincinnati Bengals uh to talk about them in that context. I'm gonna use the Dolphins as a cudgel to beat the Bengals with a little bit later, but um they are crossed off, and I think that it that has shown no signs of becoming a bad prediction.

AFC North Ravens Steelers And Doubts

SPEAKER_00

Moving on to the AFC North. Uh the Baltimore Ravens are number one in the AFC North at four and one. Last week they were number eight on your prime rankings. They've bumped up to number five. I think this was a good win for them, and I think because of something you just said, which was it was an ugly win. I think it's kind of crazy how good of a Lamar Jackson impression Tyler Huntley can do. I thought he looked pretty good. Um Lamar's out, obviously. They trailed Atlanta 23-15 with two minutes and 25 seconds remaining before Huntley suddenly went nuclear. 11 for 11. Tying drive, OT, scored the winning TD himself in a 30-23 OT victory. Derrick Henry Ward landed down with 102 rushing yards. He looked vintage. I I really enjoyed I had my eye on this game uh pretty closely as it came down the line, and I really enjoyed him just that last drive of him just running over every single Atlanta player was really something to watch. I got nothing against the Atlanta Falcons in particular, but um yeah, just it was poetic. Yeah, they were really tired. I I really like Derrick Henry. I think anyone who likes football likes Derrick Henry unless you know you have a divisional uh, you know, horse in that race. But um I feel like watching Panics go out was tough because you just knew what Tua was gonna do. You you just knew exactly what Tua was gonna do if he came in and did it and had a vintage to it intercept to end the game. So yeah, I mean I I I think this is a really weird Baltimore Ravens team. I'm not sure what they're gonna be like down the stretch. I do think they have a lot of talent, but Mike is on this show always hammering the idea that they don't have the tools necessary to win a Super Bowl. And I I would I would unfortunately that there is an irrelevance that comes with teams that that you kind of don't think are ever gonna make it over the line. And and I'm I'm starting to not worry about this team quite as much, although I did enjoy that game. So what did you make of the uh of the Baltimore Ravens?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they're just a team I never want to cross off of any list because one, they're they're doing this with uh you know Lamar Jackson Jr., uh, who came out and had 11 straight completions in a row. Like that's I don't care who you are, that's tough man. And he they did this against the Atlanta team that we've seen bowl teams over recently. Like, not just win, but like like they're having a legendary offensive running season and they still won a down and dirty one. Um and they did it in a very funny way. I mean, if Tua doesn't go out, what's the end of this game? I don't know. But the Ravens showed us who they were. So I I'm not I'm not low on the Ravens, I'm not high on the Ravens. I'm I'm really excited to see what they do next. Getting Lamar back, I think, changes them a little bit because even though Huntley looked great, he's a different caliber of player, and we all know that. And you know, Mike can say whatever he wants. He is butthurt about the losses or the wins or whatever upsets him about um a very fast black man in playing quarterback. I don't know. But yeah, I'm excited to see Lamar run this offense a little bit more and see what this team is.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Mike, Jim, Crow, Marcangelo. I it's it's it's it's a sad thing, it's a sad state of the world. No, of course we're just joking. But um, yeah, I have to agree. I just I just don't know what they look like in December. You know what I mean? Like I don't I it's to me, it's October. They can have some good games, they can have some fun wins, but I just uh with the way the AFC's looking, I mean the NFC is obviously looking absolutely fucking diabolical. Like everybody sucks over in over in my conference, but the way the AFC's looking, it's it's a it's a shark tank. So like let's see. Um I don't want to talk too long about the Cleveland Browns. They are uh number 17 on your power rankings, and they were 15 last week. They they lost the game. Um thankfully Deshaun Watson's not a good person. Strip sack on the final possession. They're three and two, so they're in the race technically, but like come on. You know, they're about to play Baltimore next week uh in a very big divisional game. Perfect chance for either to establish legitimacy or fall another game behind the division leader. Um we'll see how it goes. Uh, I think Baltimore's gonna smoke them, and I think that the the Cleveland Browns resurgence was uh a little overblown. We have to have a conversation about your issues with the Pittsburgh Steelers, unfortunately. Uh it's it's it's time to have a little bit of a come to Jesus here because last week you had him at 22. You did bring him up to 16. It's too low. It hurt.

SPEAKER_01

It hurt the other.

SPEAKER_00

34-22 win over Indianapolis was much more convincing than the score suggests. If you watch that game, Jalen Warren had 188 total yards, including an 80-yard receiving touchdown, a 50-yard rushing score. Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdowns for the third straight game. It doesn't, it doesn't, it pains me to give Aaron Rodgers compliments. And I don't think that the man of his age and uh lack of um intellect is going to be able to sustain this throughout the season, but he looked pretty fucking good. They've now beaten Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis. The New England disaster looks increasingly like an anomaly. I'd have them closer to 12 and 13 than 16. And if they go and beat Tampa Bay, which I think they're going to, I don't know, man. You're gonna have to start getting a little realistic about this Steelers team. You're gonna have to justify this 16th place uh ranking to me, I think.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so hear me out, hear me out. Um, yellow and black is the ugliest mesh of colors I've ever seen. Um, these losers named their field after a ketchup bottle. Um, Aaron Rodgers.

SPEAKER_00

That's not the name of their field anymore. Whatever. Whatever. It's the it's a classic. That's I would have to disagree there. First of all, I think yellow and black is a great.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, they rebounded. The condiment stadium rebounded good for them.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Aaron Rodgers is a I think Heinz is a classic American brand. I I mean I I That's disgusting too. That's cool. I don't know, man. I think it's like Heinz, you know, uh Coca-Cola. Like this is a good thing. What do you put ketchup on?

SPEAKER_01

Tell me what you put ketchup on.

SPEAKER_00

Burgers. That's it, right? Fries. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Because you're a rational being. You're a rational being.

unknown

Exactly.

SPEAKER_00

On hot dogs are like just mustard. I'm a Chicago guy on the in the hot dog world. Um we are meant for each other, I swear to God. Here's the thing about the Pittsburgh Steelers. Is it because you've seen them win championships in your lifetime that they don't have cheating scandals like holding them, that like the asterisk like holding them back? Is that what it is? Like they did it fair and square.

SPEAKER_01

It looks to me that a Steelers team that that overexceeds this season is going to face the Ravens at the top of their division and the Bengals at the top of their division, and that they don't have an actual hope of success this season. That's what looks like.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's true. I mean, I don't think that they're gonna win a Super Bowl this year by any stretch, but you've got to be fair and realistic to them when they perform well.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so if we look at, let's take a pause and we'll look at look at the the full list of the power rankings. Um, they're not better than the Bengals, even though they beat the Bengals. Divisional games are crazy. They're not better than the Bears.

SPEAKER_00

Great, great transition because I think they are better than the Bengals right now. After that, very, very, very I'm talking, this is a week-to-week power ranking. And it was a very, very unconvinced. First of all, they beat the Bengals, right? They just beat the Bengals two weeks ago. Second of all, second of all, I don't think that the Bengals have the coaching staffs to sustain uh anything because that's just kind of sort of proven to be true. I don't think they're gonna stay healthy because they never do. And they looked wholly fucking unconvincing against the worst team in the NFL that the NFL has seen maybe in the last five years, barely beating the Miami Dolphins. So I do think they they could be uh above the Bengals, yeah. Especially since they beat them.

SPEAKER_01

Divisional team be a divisional team. Joe Burrow just threw another game with four touchdowns. Even though the uh the running game is slipping, even though the defense looks really, really good.

SPEAKER_00

They let the Miami Dolphins score 24 points on them.

SPEAKER_01

I understand. The defense looks bad. You're right. I still would match up. In a in a winner-lose winner-go-home situation, the Bengals over the Steelers nine out of ten times. It's Joe Burrow versus Aaron Rodgers in 2026.

SPEAKER_00

It's going to take a couple weeks before you can really figure this out because the Cincinnati Bengals have a bye week next week and then they go play the Baltimore Ravens. So a lot of a lot of the AFC North will sort of sort itself out over the next couple of weeks, and we'll see. They're not better than the Bears. I don't know. The Bears looked like shit last week.

SPEAKER_01

Have their quarterback. I don't want to get it.

SPEAKER_00

I know, but I said, I said to everybody, and I let myself, this is what I always do. I let myself I let you fuckers talk me into shit. And I and I was like, maybe our defense isn't so bad. Like we drafted some good guys. Our secondary looked, we're not there yet. We'll

AFC South Jags Legit Texans Alive

SPEAKER_00

come on to talk about that. Let's talk about the AFC South and round out this round out this lovely uh power rankings conversation about the AFC. Oh, wait, we still have to do the AFC West. Anyway, that'll take less time. The Jacksonville Jaguars, Jaguars, four and one. Last week they were three. This week they're three. Fair. They escaped London with a 19-17 win over Philadelphia, which I still think counts. I still think beating the Eagles counts. We'll see what that looks like in a few weeks if Philadelphia keeps this shit up.

SPEAKER_01

It's a tough home win, but it's a win.

SPEAKER_00

It's a win at home in London. Everything is weird in London. There was a fucking fist fight at the very start of the game, which he got to love. I was not up early enough, as you know, I'm on West Coast time, but I did see the highlights. Trevor Lawrence, honestly, like I've said it before, he's what I thought Justin Herbert was going to be. I was wrong. They were right. Trevor Lawrence threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns. Jacksonville's defense held Philadelphia to 22 rushing yards. Overall, Saquon Barkley drafters are sick. At this point, number three isn't uh projection. They're four and one, their defense travels. Lawrence is winning games instead of avoiding losing them. They're playing Houston in London again because that's their home stadium. It's okay to get two home home games in a row. Um, I think they're gonna handle Houston, especially with the fact that they're just they just get to stay in London, you know, and like no travel, all this stuff. Houston's pretty far away. I I think this Jacksonville Dragon Wars team are gonna be in the conversation for the rest of the season. I think they're legit.

SPEAKER_01

I think so too. I was the I thought there were a little bit of concerning things going on this week. I didn't drop them in my rankings. I don't think they deserve to be dropped. I don't think man.

SPEAKER_00

13 penalties is a lot of fucking penalties for a good team. I think it's London weirdness. I think it's travel weirdness. I I really do think that's the home game. I I like it, it was ugly. It was an ugly win, but the Philadelphia beating Philadelphia, like I said, still counts. And I also think like, you know, when you win and you're you're still happy you can put stuff on tape, you know, like you're still happy like your coach can bring the guys in and be like, we gotta clean this shit up. But talking about that in the context of a win is so much better than talking about it in the context of a loss. Like there's just things to be, there's things, conversations to be had. There's things to clean up, and honestly, cleaning up penalties and stuff, like that's on the coaching staff. And they'll they'll they'll get back to basics and they'll they'll figure that out, I think. I'm I got nothing crazy, I got no crazy takes about the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think they're gonna beat the fuck out of Houston next week, or this week, I should say. Yeah, I know. The Indianapolis Colts are a 2-3, 22 ranked. Last week were 20 power rankings team. They've dropped two positions. I think that's fine. Indy, um, they moved the ball against Pittsburgh, but they kept settling for field goals. Spencer Schrader kicked five field goals in that game, and the Colts couldn't turn enough possessions into touchdowns. I don't know if that's a bend on break philosophy of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Defense that's still healthy, and even though I fucking JJ Watt was allowed to fucking, or TJ Watt was allowed to get fucking poked in the eye 17 times, like on one play. I don't know what that was all about. That was very strange. The Colts are competitive every week, but they keep committing that kind of classic mediocre team sin of doing enough to stay close without finishing, you know? And it's like if they had a middle of the road record this year, but then they like lost way more games next year, you wouldn't really be that surprised, right? Um to play in Tennessee next week, they have to, they have to win that game if they if they're a playoff team, honestly. If they if they want to convince us they're a playoff team, great. I don't want to talk about the owner being on the sidelines, and is just as far as to piggyback on your Diana Rossini joke, uh, would um but uh I do think it's a little uh bit of misogyny that like if they keep cutting to her and being like, it's a lady and she wants to know about how the game's going. I I've said that before and I'm sticking to it.

SPEAKER_01

I it's it's 20 years from now it's misogyny. Right now it's just awesome.

SPEAKER_00

Look at her. That's where the boys usually stand. That's a great job. That's crazy. Yeah, that's right.

SPEAKER_01

Look at her.

SPEAKER_00

Um play me madden right now, lady. Uh um Houston finally got that zero out of the win column, and they did it emphatically, and we can only play who's in front of you, but unfortunately for them, we're not gonna give them a ton of credit because who's in front of them were the Tennessee Titans. They beat him 26-3. That matters because Houston had uh much more competitive, uh, had been a much more competitive 0-4 team than the record indicated. They kept losing games late rather than being blown off the field. We know the talent that their defense has. I'm not saying they're a playoff team. I'm glad we didn't cross them off. Uh they're still on the radar, but we almost did last week, and I'm glad that we didn't. Um, 24th in the power rankings, I think, properly acknowledges that they're materially better than the other teams that um entered last week, Winless. And I think we did say that. They're playing Jacksonville in London. We we talked about this. I mean, they could still win that game. I don't think they're gonna, but if they do, there's life back in this team. You know, like I it's tough to start 0-4, but we'll have to see. I I do want this defense to be good because I want I want them to be watchable, right? Just from my own point of view.

SPEAKER_01

Right. And to be watchable, their quarterback has to not make fucking mistakes in four consecutive games of the turnover. That's not making a mistake. That's what we need. That's what they need from him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's that is the case. We'll know a lot more after they play um after they play the Jags.

AFC West Broncos Skepticism Chargers Done

SPEAKER_00

The AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs, there's nothing to talk about. They were on a bye week. Um, they're playing the Chargers next, they have to go and beat them, otherwise, we're all gonna point and laugh. The Denver Broncos are three and two. They're still at number nine. They haven't moved. I still think that's high. I I still think it's high. They beat the Chargers in the least convincing way. Anyone seems to have beat the Chargers this year, 23-17. The result flatters the offense. They trailed entering the fourth quarter before the defense completely took over. Los Angeles' five fourth quarter possessions produced 19 net yards with a turnover on downs, fumble, interception, and the game ending sack. Denver's offense was outgained 20, 237 to 224, and they went one for 12 on third down. That's just that's just diabolical. I I don't buy them as the ninth best team in football. Just on the eye test, man. I mean, the stats kind of backed me up, but just on the eye test, it's a tremendous tech test next uh the sorry, tomorrow. Thursday night football against Seattle, and I think they're gonna fucking lay an egg.

SPEAKER_01

I think that next week is the week that you're gonna see them drop off my list. It's just I just can't, I can't punish the boys when they come out and win like that. It's just like I just can't do it. You're right, they probably should have been lowered to begin with.

SPEAKER_00

When they came out and went like that, they beat the fucking Chargers and Barrett.

SPEAKER_01

They won. It's a divisional game. They won. They came out and won it. It was a tough one for them. They had to come back and do it. And that's, you know, I just see a team, I see a defense with a lot of muster. I see Bonex being awful and they're winning in spite of them. And I just I just couldn't punish them. Yeah, I'm still just buying in their preseason hype, I think, is a lot of what's happening here. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's they're still floating on that for sure. I mean, they made they made the the AFC championship game last year, you know. And a lot of people said that if it wasn't for the weather, they would have been in the Super Bowl. So we'll see. Uh, I don't know. They haven't looked great. Hopefully they hopefully they figure it out. The Raiders finally got their asses kicked in the way that I thought they were going to in all the other weeks. Um, they ran for 38 rushing yards, and uh Kirk Cousins couldn't keep pace with May. I think that as the season goes on, there's gonna be more and more Mendoza talk. Um he got some fourth quarter work once the game was gone. The 3-0 start still counts, but KC and New England have exposed some cracks over the last two weeks. Unfortunately, they're walking into the buzzsaw that is the Buffalo Bills next. Uh there's no recovery games on their schedule, and we might forget about them as quickly as we started talking about them.

SPEAKER_01

So let's see what if they decide to make the right decision and start Mendoza this week after he looked kind of hot against our secondary, um, and they beat Buffalo or give Buffalo a competitive game. I still got them alive then.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're still alive then. But what's weird about that is if that happens, it just enters us into a situation where it's a much longer conversation about Buffalo next week than it is about it is about the Raiders. Like the relevancy Olympics are still on, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I am clutching my rosary. I am saying every pair in the Jewish Bible, I'm I'm gonna do some ricots for the Muslim brothers. I am praying they beat that Buffalo Bills team. They're frauds. Let's see something happen here. It's a it's a very that's my game to watch for the week.

SPEAKER_00

It's all Matt wants for Kwanzaa. All right. Um, Los Angeles Chargers are 0-5. They're the most irrelevant team uh in football, maybe after the Miami Dolphins. Only the only reason we're ever having a conversation about them is we all thought they were gonna be better this year than they actually are. They're gonna go and fucking play the Chiefs next week. They're gonna lose or this week. I keep doing that. Um it's the reason we crossed them off. They're one of our three crossed off teams. Bye. Bye, Felicia. Let's move on. Bye.

SPEAKER_01

Is it us? Was it us, Dave? Because I felt like Mike was pretty hot and them sucking. I think Zach was too. What would are we just really impressed by tall white guys that are kind of mobile?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think we just thought we probably just thought Herbert was handsome.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

He looks like the guy from Remember the Titans, you know, so we just wanted him to be good, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Sunshine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, all right, moving on to the NFC.

NFC East Giants Tie Eagles Freefall

SPEAKER_00

The NFC East. The New York Giants are 3-1 and 1. I think this is the biggest gripe I have. I think this is the biggest positional gripe I have. You dropped them six fucking points, six positions. They were 17th last week, they're 23rd this week. They won their, well, they tied their game. Obviously, both sides left opportunities on the field in overtime. It wasn't pretty to demand enough to demand a top 10 ranking, but 3-1 and 1 in first place in their division and ended up being the 23rd team in football is crazy. Um, you're betting against their sustainability rather than ranking what they've achieved, I think. And they're about to go, and this is what happens every week. And I tell you, and I've been right a lot of the time, they're about to go play New Orleans. That's a one-and-four opponent at home, and they're gonna be four, one and one going into next week. You're gonna have to bump them way up. I think this drop was way too low.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe, but they did just tie a fucking cross-off team.

SPEAKER_00

So I do I can't appreciate that. I can't appreciate the tie, but you gotta get punished for a tie. Having it tie on the record every year now. It seems like the overtime rules have were like kind of constructed with the idea of not having that happen. And we feels like we tie a lot more now. I it feels like we guaranteed one or two. It's so stupid. Have teams just not figured out how overtime works.

SPEAKER_01

Is that the go rugby with it? Just throw a ball into the middle of the field, pick six on each time on each side, go get it. Whoever gets the end to the other end wins.

SPEAKER_00

I saw someone say uh both teams start with a ball and they have both their offense and defense out there, and first team to make it into the end zone with their ball wins. And it's just like a lot of that that would be pretty cool. Not my idea, I forget who said it, but that would be pretty cool. Um we'll see about this New York Giants team. They're about to go beat the New Orleans Saints, and they're gonna beat the.

SPEAKER_01

I agree with you. It's not fair of me, but I you're right. I'm literally betting against the fact that one, I fucking hate them. I hate them all, I hate their owners, I hate uh their colors, I hate their stupid helmets. Um, and two, it just you're not sevens, really? Sevens gonna do it? Okay, great. I'll see you. I'll see you in fucking January than seven.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think you are better. Like I said, I think you're better betting on their long-term uh sustainability and not what they've currently achieved, which I think is what makes the power ranking a little unfair. But um in saying that, the Philadelphia Eagles were 21 last week and somehow made it up a place at 20, but they're right around where they should be. I think the Eagles had 22 rushing yards, like I said, uh for the whole game, and they've gone 2-0 from 2-0 to three straight losses. There's a lot of talent on this team, so we can't bury them yet. They're not a cross-off contender yet, but this is a mediocre football team living on reputation as far as I'm concerned. Like everybody seems to be beating them, which is annoying me because I thought that Bears win was gonna, I thought it was a bigger win than it seems like it actually was now, which is annoying, especially with how the Bears looked against the Packers. Um, they're gonna play Carolina next week. This is borderline must-win territory. It's gonna get out of hand if they don't beat the Carolina Panthers. It's gonna get out of hand. So I I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna I think it's gonna get out of hand no matter what happens. I I just it doesn't seem like that.

SPEAKER_00

They gotta beat him and they gotta beat him convincingly, which the really decent.

SPEAKER_01

So I gotta see something here, and I don't I don't expect to see anything out of them. So good luck to them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, um, I saw a stat. This is a really interesting stat. I and I really think it's backed up by the eye test, so I'm gonna say it to you now. And do me a favor, next time you watch the Eagles with any sort of like indeptedness, uh, take a look at this. Think about like all the best quarterbacks you've ever seen play football, right? Jalen Hurts throws over the middle percentage less than every other QB in the league by a lot. He throws it over the middle 12% of the time. He throws it over the middle 12% of the time. He hawks it to the fucking sidelines most of the time. Now, they used to have the receiver, receiving core overall, where that was fine, right? Like then they could just make a crazy play every game and it would work out. I don't think he can see the middle of the field back. He's got middle of the field blindness.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think he can see over the center. It doesn't matter if there's linebackers in the box or if they're set back at the safety, he never does it. He's afraid. He never scared to do it. He is gonna beam a fucking center in the back of the head with the ball, and he knows it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's bad. It's it's and I think it's I think teams know it now. And I think that, yeah, it's a it's a real problem. I don't think, I mean, for a guy who's achieved what he's achieved with the with the success that he's reached, God, he's gotta be one of the worst to ever win as much as he's like on talent was it's we're probably a little early on that call, but man oh man, he is fighting real hard for that title, and I love it.

SPEAKER_01

I love it.

SPEAKER_00

It's like it's like life is so unfair. You know, like Lamar Jackson maybe is never gonna win a Super Bowl, and he's fucking ten times the quarterback that Jalen Earl.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, being able to ride Space Mountain is a huge benefit to Lamar Jackson. Fair.

SPEAKER_00

The Cowboys are two and three. They're this is fucking. I really we actually were high on their offense. They looked super competent. This was bad. Previously winless Tampa came into Dallas with an undrafted rookie quarterback and won 24-16, rushing for 241 yards, gaining a season high 419 yards total. The Cowboys defense couldn't pressure Jalen Daniels. Jalen Daniels. Jalen Daniels, CeeDee Lamb left injured. Dallas turned it over three times. They can still score, but the defense is turning every matchup into an absolute crisis. They have to go play Green Bay, and as much as I want them to win, I think they're gonna get fucking Mollywed, to use your word, and I they're a disaster. They're a fucking disaster.

SPEAKER_01

So I want to defend myself here. I just want to be known that the reason that they're at 19 and not 18 is because when I looked at the rankings, I said to myself, Dave and Leah are gonna be really upset of the Steelers below the calendar. I just hate the Steelers that much. Um would have been rage to me. It's just not they're not good, man. They're just not good. That that poor that poor staff worker who had the gall to say that he was in that that uh It was embarrassing. It was embarrassing, man. It was embarrassing. Our friend, our close and personal friend, ex-member of this podcast for the checking the oil section that we used to have, uh, Ben Peake, worked for Gillette Stadium and one time made the mistake of saying to Tom Brady, hey fellas, gonna win another Super Bowl. We were fired that minute. That minute that you said it. So this guy must be still downstairs in the basement at the Cowboys Stadium being tortured with Jerry Jones sitting there looking at him, going, ha ha, say it again, say it again, you motherfucker. But yeah, no, it's not good. It's really not good.

SPEAKER_00

Oh dear. Um the Washington Commanders, I mean, I already made fun of them in the intro. Washington, um, they stopped losing. If you're gonna say something nice about them, they stopped losing. The Seattle win remains impressive uh week to week. They can't stack anything together, their outlook's drifting towards a media serious run to stay relevant in the wildcard race. Um I think we should cross them off.

SPEAKER_01

I think we should cross them off too. You uh you can't what what are we doing? What are we doing here at the end of that game? Who the fuck is in the headset of Jaden Daniels? And why are you why are you running that ball and then just looking sideways for somebody to tell you what to do? You're still on the ground. There's no time left. I don't care what you think the situation is, there's no time left. Get up, get up, let's go. That was really fucking something special. Thank you to the commanders. Thank you for that. We don't get to see stuff in this.

SPEAKER_00

That was hilarious. That was so funny. They're crossed off. You gotta get crossed off for that. Uh I'll I'll I'll lay I'll lay our reputation on the line for that.

NFC North Vikings Respect Bears Reality Check

SPEAKER_00

Yep. NFC North, uh, the Minnesota Vikings are 5-0. They were 11 last week. They seem to have barely cracked the top 10, but they're 5-0, and they're number eight. We're done doing this match. 5-0. Uh, they beat New Orleans. Kyler Murray finally looked comfortable in Kevin O'Connell's offense. 24 of 30 for 229, a TD, no turnovers. The defense held the Saints to 142 total yards. Early on, you could argue they were winning despite their offense, and you did. Now the quarterback is settling in two. Eighth is too low for an undefeated team with an elite defense. Um, they have a bye week, so we can table this conversation for a second, but they're home to Indianapolis in week seven. If they if they're six and oh in two weeks, I I dig. Like, come on.

SPEAKER_01

I'll hear okay, fine. If they're six and oh in two weeks, I'll hear seven seven spot. Eight.

SPEAKER_00

Like eight's really a lot of a lot of future tripping by you with these with these logics.

SPEAKER_01

Just hear me out. Hear me out for one second. I put them at the eighth spot out of all of the division winners, they'll be the eighth best team of the division winners. That was my thought process there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, you said you're you're sure they're gonna win this division. I don't think so.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, I'm saying at the moment, if it ended today, I think the bears are gonna win the division. I don't think there's even a debate about it, but if it ended today, they'd be the eighth best divisional winner.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we'll see. The Green Bay Packers, let's talk about them in context of the uh of the Chicago Bears. Wasn't looking forward to this. We don't even know. That was a fucking ass-kicking. Uh Green Bay destroyed Chicago 31-7. Jordan Love completed 25 of 31 for 367 yards of two TDs. The Bears secondary was probably the worst uh position group of any team for the entire weekend uh and Monday. Maybe, maybe the special teams of the Rams, I don't know. But um he vaporized us downfield. Uh, he completed six throws of 30 plus yards, including two long touchdowns to Christian Watson and finished a career high. We gave him a career high, 137.5 passer rating. Um, you launched them nine places, which I think is correct. After that performance, it's 14 might even still be conservative. They're back in top 12 status, probably at this point. Um, the Bears, uh, that was a reality check. Um, they looked brilliantly coached for three straight weeks. They got demolished, and the defense that had allowed 28 total points over the previous three games was repeatedly fucking nuked over the top. Jordan Love had 367 yards. I mean, I just uh we didn't even look remotely capable of changing the game script on on either side of the ball. I don't think everything we like about the Bears and Ben Johnson vanished overnight. I'm not pushing the panic button like Caleb Williams wasn't starting, fine. But dropping them seven places is an appropriate punishment. I I'm I'll take this one on the chin.

SPEAKER_01

We're playing Atlantic. I really thought about this. Here's my problem with with the loss. I am, you know, I've said it a million times in this podcast. I am not a fan of over-analyzing a team's loss to a divisional rival, especially a rival like the Packers and the Bears. Like these are historically two of the biggest rivals in this sport. They're gonna win and lose against each other. It's gonna happen. The problem was is that you can't say it's all on on uh on Tyson Bagnet, that asshole. When it was happening the whole game. It wasn't that the defense got tired, it was a steady kind of climb. That's why I dropped them so much. I still think the Bears are gonna figure it out. I still think they're the best coach team in the league next to the Vikings. Um, but yeah, it's just that was a tough one to watch. That was tough. I'm not gonna rub it in. Listen, I didn't get my nails painted to rub it in. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you my pussy hurts too. It just sucked. That one sucked. But you know what? I don't care. Put it away. Let's see what happens next. I want Caleb back, then I'll start judging this team.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, big response game. Looks like Caleb's gonna play against uh against Atlanta. We've we've had a tough time stopping the run, so like let's see. Um big response game. Let's see. Um the Detroit Lions finally got a performance in which the defense wasn't merely a decorative accessory, destroying Arizona at 45-21. We're can't we're gonna cross out the Cardinals when we get there, by the way. Just be emotionally prepared for that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um the Cardinals had only 109 first half yards. They went into halftime down 24-7. Jared Goff continued an absurd start. Through five games, he's had 12 passing touchdowns, no giveaways, and NFL first. Did you know that? Um, even if that defense be can just revert to the mean, just be average, they become dangerous really quickly. Um bye week, and then hopefully they beat the Packers at home in week seven. Huge NFC North game coming up for them, so watch this space.

NFC South NFC West Niners On Top

SPEAKER_00

In the NFC South, the strangest still, uh, most mediocreist and strangest division in football, the Carolina Panthers lead it still uh at 2-2. They had a bye week, nothing to talk about there. They did beat Detroit, so that's saying something. Um, currently they're at 15. Uh last week they were 12. I understand a brief drop because you've got to shuffle other teams around. When a team has a bye week, I think it makes sense. But we're talking about the Packers, or sorry, the Panthers if they if they do something relevant this week. The Falcons, two and three. I think they're a little low. Um they're at 21, they dropped down from 19. I understand the shuffle happens, but losing overtime to Baltimore, Baltimore are a good team. It shouldn't send them that far downward, in my opinion. 23-15 with less than three minutes left and largely control the 4-1 Ravens team before Huntley pulled off the comeback of the fucking century. Bijan looks like he's definitely going to be the best running back this year if he can stay healthy. Your backing of Panix looks pretty fucking good. I mean, the the criticism is still the injury issue, but he's still looking good. I mean, this team has looked significantly better than 21 over the last three weeks and they're coming to play Chicago. I'm nervous. I I don't I don't think this we have this win in the bag at all. So hopefully this wasn't the beginning of a regression for them. Actually, fuck it. Hopefully it was. But if you if you're an Atlanta Falcons fan, hopefully it wasn't. I do think they made an okay account of themselves, but I don't know. I I'm putting on the record, I think this is too low.

SPEAKER_01

That's that's a fair criticism. Um, it it's literally so the way I look at it is they got that loss, and you're in, I think they're still in that range of teams where what 15 be the highest, 22 being the lowest, they're still in that their home sphere of range. So some things are gonna get shuffled. I still like the Falcons. I just was very unimpressed with the way that that ended.

SPEAKER_00

Fair enough. Um, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't win as so much the Cowboys lost. So I think moving up two spots from 30 to 28 is fair. Uh, not much to say there. They have to play Pittsburgh. I think they're gonna lose. The Saints, I think we should cross the mall. I think I think we're crossing out three teams today. I think the Saints gotta go. They lost 23-13 to Minnesota. Uh, a feat that I think is is, you know, not as big of a deal as you do. But 142 yards against that Vikings defense. Their only victory remains that bizarre Baltimore upset. Increasingly, it looks like exactly that. An upset, not evidence the team is actually good. This is heading towards another long season unless the offense dramatically improves and they're playing the Giants next thing, they're gonna lose that game. They might win the game, though. All right, let's keep it for one more week. Let's keep it for one more week. We'll keep it for one more week. They're circling the drain. They're circling the drain. So are the fucking Bucks, by the way, even though they won. Those two teams are circling the fucking drain right now.

SPEAKER_01

They have one win, and two wins puts them in number one in their division. That's my only problem with this fucking division.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you can't cross off a team in this division. You really can't. You really fucking can't because anyone's gonna win it. You gotta be so careful the NFC South. You're absolutely right. Speaking of uh polar opposite divisions, uh the NFC West and the San Francisco 49ers, I mean, fuck Brock Purdy. It's electric, dude. It's what the fuck? They got dragged into a proper divisional street fight and still survived Seattle 32-29. The Niners forced four turnovers, five sacks. It was the fucking game of the week. We set it going in. It was the game we were most excited to see. It did not disappoint. I had an absolutely great time watching it. The Niners first uh are the uh Brock Purdy and Mike Evans produced a 95-yard fourth quarter TD drive when San Francisco actually needed its offense to win the game. The Bucs letting him walk looked absolutely ridiculous. He looked, he he looked like me posting up a fucking seven-year-old for some of those catches, dude. Like he was like tipping the ball to himself. It was absolutely nuts. Like I Debo Samuels hamstring injury sucks. Um they're battered at that receiving core. I really hope they stay healthy. They have historically not been able to, but they just keep finding solutions. They're the best next man up team I've seen in the last decade. Five games, five wins. You have them exactly where they belong. Number one in the power rankings, number one in our hearts. They're playing Washington and Monday night football this game week. Very difficult to see the commanders having enough to win that game unless San Francisco beats itself, which it doesn't seem like that's a thing that they do. So they've got one of the better offensive coaching minds of our of our uh football watching lifetime. And I long may I continue. I hope they still stay healthy. I mean, they look they look electric. Brock Purdy looks unbelievable.

SPEAKER_01

Unbelievable. I'm so happy with that team right now. I did not see them being this stable at number one with the Rams and the Seahawks so hot in their tail. And by the way, let's not let's not barely hear. Like Evans is that dude. And checking Tavon Diggs' jersey, be like, I'm sorry, bro. Which who are you again? Who are you turning around? Okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That was the absolute moment of the week. Absolute the week. I loved it. That was awesome. I loved that so much. That was so disrespectful. It was insane. And he was like, no, I just I genuinely didn't, I couldn't, didn't recognize him because the helmets. And I was like, Yeah, okay, Mike.

SPEAKER_01

Talk heavy, son. Talk heavy. Oh man.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I think that the Seattle Seahawks were a little high. I I know it was a dogfight. I I think dropping them only one spot from five to six might be a little generous. I think they had every opportunity in in this game. They committed four turnovers, three of 12 on third down. I know they were playing a tough team. Uh was it five? Um they won I Sam Darnold, uh, it looked, I don't know. They he took a lot of sacks. They got with they got within half a yard of potentially setting up the tying field goal. And it was like I kind of thought he had it. I thought Cooper Cup had it. I I don't know like what they used as a measuring stick because I didn't think we had the angle there, so I think you know, tie goes to the runner, you know. But um they didn't. They didn't. And now they're two and a half games behind San Francisco in this division. That was a huge swing. Six feels two spots too aggressive to me. That's probably going to convincingly beat Denver tomorrow. Uh, or if it's already happened and you're listening to this podcast, it's only one game, but you know, let you let me know. But if Denver gives them a struggle, uh huge test. Huge test. And and their running game's struggling, so let's see. Yep. The Rams are seventh last week, they're 12th this week. It was a tough L against a decent team, but it was a winnable game. They could have they could have been up, but they weren't. Stafford led three straight touchdown drives late. Special teams were disastrous. That's a coaching issue, and there has been some coaching issues this year. McVay looks like he's cracking up a little bit. I gotta say. He looks like he's cracking up a little bit. You know, like the expectations are high. His post-game press conference wasn't ideal. Two missed field goals, uh, the potential game winner being one of them blocked. Two and three, they're in a hole, but I I still think they're a playoff team. I mean, I think you'd be silly not to. I came out on Monday night thinking they're substantially better than their record, but it still looks like a dangerous, um, dangerous slate after they play the Cardinals. That's a must-win. They need to be three and three and not two and four. If they're two and four, we need to have a very long State of the Union about this Rams team and what we thought versus what they actually are.

SPEAKER_01

I couldn't agree more. I mean, dude, they just do not look like the team that we were promised. I understand. They've got injuries. I get it. It's fine. Um, but losing to Buffalo that way when Buffalo looked so shit coming down the stretch. I just am not impressed by anything I'm seeing out of them. Nothing. Every time there's a step forward, you see Corm run, he's he's bulldozing ahead, then he disappears. Or you see, oh, Devontae looks like he's gonna get there. Nope, then he disappears. I'm just really not impressed with anything going on there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I have to agree. Um week six, coming

Week Six Games To Watch

SPEAKER_00

up. Oh, we're crossing out the Cardinals, by the way. I'm not talking about week six coming up. The Seahawks and Broncos Thursday night, that's an interesting game. The Texans and the Jags early on Sunday, that's an interesting game. The Jets and the Pats, divisional, makes it interesting. If I'm looking around, the best, the most watchable games this week. I mean, that Thursday night game. I like that on paper. I'm definitely gonna tune in to Jets Patriots just to see if you guys can sustain. Cowboys Packers is interesting on Sunday night. That's a that's gonna be an interesting game to watch. Let's see if the fucking Dallas Cowboys can pull their heads out of their asses long enough to actually give this Packers team a run for their money. I'm done doing who beat who math at this point in the season. Bears Falcons is a pretty interesting game, if I'm being honest.

SPEAKER_01

I think we'll like we'll see it.

SPEAKER_00

We'll see a lot. Yeah. Um, well, we did it. We power ranked again. Good luck, week six, to all the teams, except the Packers and the Jets and the Buccaneers. Because people I care about like the teams that those guys are playing, and I care about myself. So for myself, DK says for my son HW. I mean, I'm sorry, my friend Matt Wilkes.
