Missing the Point
NFL Week 9 Power Rankings, Bears, Super Bowl, Drake Maye, Patriots, Lamar Jackson

The 2026 NFL season has officially reached the point where we’re burying teams, resurrecting others and trying to determine whether David Clarke is emotionally equipped to handle the Chicago Bears becoming a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

This week on Missing the Point, Dave is joined by Matt Wilcox and Zach Gray for the latest NFL Week 9 Power Rankings with a side of MTP Boston, as the playoff picture gets increasingly chaotic and Matt once again takes 32 NFL teams, puts them in a snow globe and shakes the living hell out of it.

The Los Angeles Chargers are 0-7, Justin Herbert looks completely broken, Jim Harbaugh’s experiment has turned into an organizational disaster, and the Rams beat their cross-town rivals 24-9 to continue their own strange attempt at crawling back from the dead. We ask the increasingly serious question: what happened to Justin Herbert, and can anybody actually fix him?

Then Philadelphia finally goes into the graveyard.

The Eagles have lost six straight games after starting 2-0, Jalen Hurts remains sidelined with his blood-clot condition, Tanner McKee has been thrown into an offense that looks completely lost, and even a talented Philadelphia roster no longer feels capable of saving the season. After weeks of debate, the Eagles are officially CROSSED OFF.

They aren’t alone.

The Baltimore Ravens are crossed off after Lamar Jackson’s thumb injury sends their season into chaos, Tyler Huntley goes down as well and Baltimore turns to rookie Joe Fagnano before making a move for veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Buffalo destroys Baltimore 36-10, but somehow the Bills moving to No. 2 in Matt’s rankings only creates more questions about whether Josh Allen and Buffalo actually look like a Super Bowl team.

And then Dave makes the mistake every Bears fan has spent decades training themselves not to make:

He starts believing.

After Chicago went into Seattle and beat the defending Super Bowl champions by 17, the Bears are 6-2, Caleb Williams is rolling, Ben Johnson’s offense looks real and the national conversation has officially turned toward Chicago Bears Super Bowl predictions.

Dave tries desperately to remain rational while also explaining why he’s not particularly scared of Buffalo, why San Francisco remains the NFC team he respects most and why the possibility of the Bears playing the Super Bowl in Los Angeles has created an entirely new category of anxiety.

We also break down Broncos vs. Chiefs after Denver’s 28-24 win over Kansas City. Bo Nix and the Broncos have now won four straight, Sean Payton continues finding ways to win disgusting football games, and Patrick Mahomes suddenly finds himself on a Chiefs team that no longer feels inevitable.

Are the Denver Broncos real AFC contenders?

Would you still bet Patrick Mahomes over Denver on a neutral field?

And has Kansas City finally reached the point where reputation is carrying more weight than the actual 2026 Chiefs?

Then it’s time for MTP Boston.

The New England Patriots move to 5-3 after surviving a classic Miami trap game, coming back from a 13-3 halftime deficit to beat the Dolphins 24-19.

Dave is somehow the most optimistic Patriots analyst on the show as Matt and Zach remain suspicious of their own team.

We break down Drake Maye’s development, Josh McDaniels’ halftime adjustments, New England’s battered offensive line, the injuries to A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, TreVeyon Henderson, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Mike Onwenu, and whether the Patriots should be viewed as an actual AFC playoff contender or simply a young team developing ahead of schedule.

And then we look ahead to one of the most interesting games of NFL Week 9: Packers vs. Patriots.

Can Drake Maye attack Green Bay’s defense?

Can Mike Vrabel and the Patriots expose Jordan Love and Matt LaFleur?

Are the Packers actually good, or are they still living off explosive plays and Lambeau Field mythology?

And if New England moves to 6-3, is it finally time for Patriots fans to stop pretending they aren’t thinking about the playoffs?

Finally, the Missing the Point NFL Cross-Off List gets significantly more crowded.

Joining the existing graveyard this week:

Philadelphia Eagles
Baltimore Ravens
Indianapolis Colts
New York Jets
Houston Texans

The New Orleans Saints survive another week, mostly because the NFC South remains a football division governed by absolutely no known laws of nature.

If you’re searching for NFL Week 9 Power Rankings, 2026 NFL Power Rankings, Chicago Bears Super Bowl predictions, Caleb Williams Bears analysis, Drake Maye Patriots analysis, Packers vs Patriots predictions, New England Patriots playoff chances, Justin Herbert Chargers, Lamar Jackson injury update, Baltimore Ravens playoff chances, Josh Allen Buffalo Bills, Broncos vs Chiefs reaction, Patrick Mahomes Chiefs, Bo Nix Broncos, NFL playoff picture, NFL contenders, NFL teams eliminated from playoff contention, NFL Week 9 predictions, Bears news, Patriots news, or NFL podcast analysis, this episode has you covered.

Subscribe to Missing the Point, tell us which Matt Wilcox ranking is most offensive to the human eye, and let us know which NFL team should be the next one officially CROSSED OFF.

Mini Sode Setup And Rankings Shock

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back, fine listeners, to the missing the point in the phone covering splash. A little uh DP Boston mini sode. I have Matt Wilcox. I have Zach Gray. Uh you weren't my best man, but I'd like to say the words best man because Mike says it every time he's not here. Yep. So it's fine. You don't need to. It's okay. You're the best man morally in this Zoom chat, I guarantee it. I could be like a good man. I could be a good man. Oh no. I want you to be the best man. I want you to be the best man you can be, which is all anyone's asking of you. Matt has once again taken 32 football teams, put them in a snow globe, and shaken the living hell out of it. The Chargers are still dead, thankfully. Uh the Eagles have lost six straight. Lamar Jackson's thumb has joined Baltimore Super Bowl hopes on the injury reserve. My Chicago Bears walked into Seattle and beat the defending champions by 17. And Denver finally informed Kansas City that the AFC West is technically supposed to contain other football teams. Meanwhile, the Rams have won two straight, which is extremely inconsiderate, to be honest, because I had already decided on them. Jacksonville is number three on Matt's rankings. I'm not really sure how that happened. Tampa rose 10 places after they didn't complete a pass, and we crossed them off, which uh is upsetting. So I really hope that doesn't keep going that direction. Um and the Patriots have fallen seven spots despite winning this week, which means Matt's rankings have officially entered uh would you say like your Jackson Pollock period? Or is that where we are halfway through the NFL season?

SPEAKER_02

The Patriots didn't fall seven spots. Did they not? No, there's they're at 10 where they were when they it wasn't really a win I considered it, so I just left them where they were.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, gotcha. I thought you had them at 11 just outside the top 10.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's right. They were at 11 last week. Where do you have them at now? Did I misread it? Did I read Panthers by accident? I do that.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

That's like I have an actual Patriots Panthers uh dyslexia. No joke. I do that all the time. I'm like, oh, the Patriots are on. I'm like, oh no, it's Carolina. I just go I get to PA and I quit. This is what ends up happening. I think that's fair. Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's like when I go back to Leah's hometown. I get to PA and I just quit. I quit on everybody.

Rams Win And Herbert Looks Cooked

SPEAKER_03

Gross.

SPEAKER_00

So uh I'm gonna take it like this because we're gonna go kind of bottom to top on the rankings, but just in like important things that actually happen. And we are ironically gonna start with the Chargers because they did play the Rams, who are now number 12 on the power rankings, which I don't know, I can mostly make sense to me. Um the Chargers are 0-7, which at this point isn't like a football record as much as it's a cry for help. I I don't know. Every study that basically they're calling us to confirm that crossing them off was the correct decision, so that's good. At least we got that one right, guys. Um, they the Rams beat the Chargers 24-9. It was a despicable game of football. I don't know if you guys uh paid any attention to it, but their second straight win after a bad two and four start. They didn't need Stafford to go crazy and throw for 400 yards. Zach, are the Rams back? I didn't mean to rhyme, but I did.

SPEAKER_01

Uh what do you think? No, they're not back. Uh congrats on beating the Chargers. Uh is Justin Herbert broken? Like he might be completely broken. Uh I saw some clips from that game. I didn't get a chance to fully watch it, but the cleanest pocket you could possibly have, and he's just throwing it straight into the Rams receivers or defenders. I'm thinking that maybe he saw like it's LA versus LA and he got confused, and he's like, Well, they're on LA, and I'm on LA. We're both playing in LA, like this is the right call. They're they kind of have the same colors as us. That's the only explanation. Otherwise, holy moly, this guy is cooked, completely cooked, absolutely cooked. So yeah, I think it's more of a testament on how terrible the chargers are than it is the Rams being back.

SPEAKER_00

I have the same opinion. Um I think they've kind of stopped being a like an like a bad team to me, and like an organ it's such an interesting case because they're kind of an organizational disaster, the likes of which I've never seen. Like the the expectations we have for these guys coming in compared to what they're actually doing now. And like you said, like there's something about watching Herbert right now. He looks like I was gonna say he looks like when Maximus gets poisoned at the end and he still has to do a sword fight of Gladiator, but he like does good still. Like Justin Herbert looks hungover every week. I don't understand what's happening. I don't know if that Madison beer uh effect is is like, would you give a shit about football if you're dating her? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

He's playing drunk. I don't know if it's like it's dude. I've never seen it some sort of beer.

SPEAKER_00

It might be my number one. I mean, I haven't thought about this before coming into the show. Maybe I'll do a little number one, like one to ten regression rankings of of all time in the his history of watching football. But this is a big one. Like, this isn't like a cornerback gets a contract or like Chris Johnson can't run like a 3-9-40 anymore, you know. Like, this is this is genuinely like nothing happened really, and this guy just sucks. Matt, what the fuck? I'm should we just rank these guys 33rd from now on and like we'll leave 32nd like open for other people that are just bad? They're so bad.

SPEAKER_02

It's just so crazy because even during the preseason, they looked so on top of it. It looked like they had figured out like his arm, where his distances were. He had a new coordinator, it was gonna work out great. And he looks underdeveloped. He looks like this is his first year in the league, and he's on the Jets. It's crazy. I cannot understand the Jets. They do look like the Jets.

SPEAKER_00

That is what they look like. Yeah, uh because the Jets don't quite look like the Jets this year, they look kind of like a bad Chargers team. It's like they freaky fried it.

SPEAKER_02

Uh they freaky fried it. This is ridiculous. And I'm you know, we're so burned by it, Dave, because we have that addiction to the look of a quarterback. Like he just looked like he should do better than this.

SPEAKER_00

I'm always I'm always fooled by the packaging. I I'm I've been fooled by the packaging my whole life in all walks of of life. If if if I'm standing in the grocery store and there's a more expensive option that has a slightly nicer packaging, I'm convinced it's the nicer product, and I can't talk myself out of that. So I was pretty convinced he was gonna be good because he just looks the part. I don't know what the fuck they're gonna do. Like they're basically mortgaged now, right? Like there's really no way out. Like w let me ask you this, Zach. If you're there's a couple teams that have quarterback injuries right now across the the National Football League. The Philadelphia Eagles come to mind, they're they're in a tough spot, the Baltimore Ravens come to mind. If you're one of those teams, what are you offering to get Justin Herbert right now? What would it take for them to take the phone call? Uh coming into the season it was a couple of first-round picks, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean I don't know. Like, I don't I it's so hard to gauge because you would figure having I mean, obviously Harbaugh's cooked. That that press conference was so cringeworthy. Um but uh you have Mike McDaniel at at as your OC, who by all accounts should be a smart offensive mind in this league.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, he did so many good things with Tua.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that that's I think that's probably. So I just thought it was gonna work. I mean, that's kind of the biggest testament there of like, is it the coach, is it the team, or is it the player? Like, if Mike McDaniel can make Tua look as good as he did in Miami, then there's no excuse for Justin Herbert at this point. So if you're another team looking for a quarterback, I mean I don't know what other coach is really gonna be able to fix Justin Herbert at this point. And I don't know. Yeah, it's not a couple first rounders anymore. Maybe a a couple or a few mid-rounders, but uh, you know, you're not gonna give up a franchise score who you think is a franchise quarterback to for that. Dude, they're rather I'd rather call Joe at this point. They're kind of in purgatory at this point, they just kind of suck the season out and hope they draft a good quarterback, uh number one over the room.

SPEAKER_00

Is that what you do? Do you move on from Herbert, or do you say this is a hard bought Daniel uh McDaniel situation and we gotta get we gotta run it one more time just to see?

SPEAKER_01

I think but I think there's been questions about Herbert, and not in the sense that like he's terribly sucks.

SPEAKER_00

There's always just Yeah, nobody thought he was this bad, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, like there's always been like he's got so much potential, he's gonna be a top five QB in this league. Look at that arm, he's so good, like he's gonna be great. But I think maybe the potential we saw was really just the peak. Just might be the case. He's probably just not he's good, but he's probably not great.

SPEAKER_02

There's a there's a playbook here in the NFL, though. You first have to blame the coaches, then you blame the GM, then you blame the guy. You already gained the contract, you he already has the money. Like I know. Crazy, man.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's why. That's why the order is that, right? It's it's a it's an it's a return on investment issue. You gotta try and squeeze some fucking money out of this dude. Some some value out of this dude, I mean, because you've given him so much money. I mean, at this point, replaceable Harbaugh. I I mean, I'm surprised they haven't done the offensive coordinator switch out already, where it's just like, ah, we're moving on from him. We're gonna get this guy in. He's you know, he's an old steady hand, you know, like one of the like that thing, I don't get it. It's very strange over there. I can't I kind of can't wrap my head around it. Now that we're actually talking about them in depth, I really have no fucking idea what the hell went wrong over there. I I gotta look at it more closely.

SPEAKER_02

You know what I do hope is happening though? You know how teams will secretly record their own season like like doc you series? I hope they're secretly recording everything that's happening so we can look back after the season and see what's going on in that locker room. Like what is happening?

SPEAKER_00

Who's doesn't someone have a hard knocks crew following them around right now? Uh-huh. I'm sure they have a season one. Yeah, I think there's an in-season hard knocks crew.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I don't remember which uh on the paleo.

SPEAKER_00

I hope it's them. Me didn't heavy grave. It's like uh checking in with uh checking in with quarterback Justin Herbert, who's just gotten back from working out, uh, has his sixth consecutive Bud Light in order to, as he puts it, make the bad feelings go away. Um and he's always playing a saddle wrench. There he goes. Uh all

Eagles Freefall And Backup QB Problem

SPEAKER_00

right. I'd also like to talk about just moving right along up the list here. Um the Eagles are very low. They're at 27. Uh, not a place I really thought that they were ever gonna be. Um they played the they played the now number 25 commanders. They have reverse, the Philadelphia Eagles have reverse engineered a winning streak. Um they're they've really managed this losing streak that they're on. They started 2-0, they've lost six straight. That's not a slump. That's a fucking hostage situation for the fans in Philadelphia. I mean, that's just crazy. Washington beat them, and it was such an example of a team not winning, but another team losing. You know, like watching Tanner McKee starting for Jalen Hurts, obviously, after this whole blood clot fiasco that went down, that guy looked like it's so unathletic. Like he just looked so fucking out of place in there. The first few throws, it was like, okay, you're a little, you got a little happy feet in the pocket. Like, I get it, I understand. Like, this is a tough situation to come into, like, you're a little cold. After a while, it was just like I was lamenting the days where we had better backup QBs. You know, I was like, back in my day, a guy would come in, uh fucking um, give me a good example of like who I'm blaming. Matt Castle. Yeah, a Matt Castle would come in and lead the the Patriots to an 11 and 5 season. Now that was the special case, uh, because they kind of had a thing going there at the time. Um, yeah, Vinny Testaverdi would come in and and really like Doug Flutie. Doug Flutie would come in and really help you out, you know. I I I don't know where where have all the backup QBs gone. Overall, the the quality of quarterback in the starting uh sense had dropped over the last few years, but I think that's kind of pulling around right now. Um I just think we had a few bad draft classes. But damn.

SPEAKER_01

There's just like this movement by teams that just not have an old man backup anymore. Or not even an old man.

SPEAKER_00

It was like last season, two seasons ago, Flacco did so good on the Browns.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Like there's only one or two teams now that want to have that veteran uh QB backup as like either a mentor or like a locker room guy or a glue guy. You don't see that much anymore.

SPEAKER_00

There was always Case Keenan won a bear won a Bears game this year, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So, I mean that and that's a great example of like why it would be great for these teams. Like, you wouldn't think that Case Keenan would do that, and you wouldn't think that he'd kind of fit into that offense, but he did, and it worked out. Uh, these young quarterbacks, especially now when you get a lot of mobile quarterbacks who maybe aren't really reading defenses all that well. Like, why wouldn't you want to have a veteran ten-year guy? Right. Like, why yeah? So now now we're stuck in these situations where your franchise quarterback goes down. You have what's his name's Tyler Tith McGee? Like, what what the fuck is what's his name? Tanner McKee. Tanner McKee. That's not a quarterback name. Like, I thought that was I heard. It's like it's a few. It's it's a backup quarterback name, though, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

That's gonna be better.

SPEAKER_01

No, a backup quarterback name is like Brian Smith or like Johnson. Like Tanner McKee's a kicker. You're right. Tanner McKee, yes, that's a kicker. That is an ultimate kicker name. That's not a backup, not even like a third string. No, like that's a guy who back in like 2007 would constantly hit like 54 yarders, and you're like, that guy's like the greatest kicker of all time. And now we just see that every week.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. You're not wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, uh in the old uh Metro uh Metrodome there.

SPEAKER_00

You're you're so right. You're so right. Ends his career on the on the Washington Redskins, and then and then we never hear from him again. You're so exactly correct. Um the uh what's his name? What's the core Jaden Daniels? He's won his first game since October 2025. Uh, it wasn't that long ago where um team people were actively telling me that uh the Bears should have drafted him. I guess not. No, no, not the Bears, Patriots. Either way, um both had the option and both chose not to, and both chose correctly, it's looking like. But whatever reasonable allowance we make for Hertz being unavailable, uh like I just a talented roster should not completely disintegrate because the QB goes down. I understand Saquon Barkley was hurt. The coverage was hilarious to me because it kept being like it would cut to the sideline reporter, and she would be like, He's hasn't he hasn't sat down once. He's just stretching, he's just still stretching. And I'm like, this is not news. Like, this is he's got a hammy. Like, of course he's fucking stretching, and it would cut to Saquon Barkley, like doing fucking yoga stretches on the sidelines or being on the bike or whatever. I'm like, guys, we gotta figure out a better way to fill the fill the actual airtime because he's about to run for 30 yards, and obviously he should not be playing in this game if he's not fully healthy. He's a running back, just give him time to get healthy. Like, this is nuts. Um I think we should cross the Eagles off. I think I think it looked dis Matt. I think it looked dysfunctional enough that they can go. What do you think? They weren't crossed off already.

SPEAKER_02

No, 100% 100. They didn't score for a straight 15 minutes of that game. The last 15 minutes of the game.

SPEAKER_00

What is that? What is that? But also, what does that division look like? Are we being too because the fucking Giants are the top of their division right now? Like they're the whole division's key space.

SPEAKER_01

It's either gonna be the Giants or the Cowboys somehow slip in. Just uh you see the Cowboys?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I did see the Cowboys. I did, they are disaster.

SPEAKER_01

The Cowboys exist so they can just have heartbreak in the wildcard round. So I'm saying if they slip in, they'll be the seven seed.

SPEAKER_00

But can we really cross them off but when they're only like two games back from the top, though? Who? The Eagles? Yeah, like the Giants are on the top of four wins. The Giants aren't gonna sustain this.

SPEAKER_02

The commander's gonna turn it on right now.

SPEAKER_01

The Giants just need to sustain mediocrity the rest of the year, which they very much can do so.

SPEAKER_00

I know. I don't even see the Eagles reaching mediocrity. I'll say one thing in defense of it. I will cross them off if you guys are both adamant about it. That's fine. But the Eagles are weird. Every season, they do have like four seasons inside one season. Every season, even on in their in their championship winning uh seasons. I I think they have the dumbest coach in the NFL, to be honest. I think Siriani is like, he had a decent press conference afterwards, actually, by the way, because he actually took responsibility for everything. He was like, This is my fault, like whatever. And I was like, I agree, to be honest. I I fully agree. I think you are dumb and stupid at the same time. Um anyway, the good news for Philadelphia is Jalen Hurts is nowhere near this offense right now, which uh considering the way they've been protecting quarterbacks might be the safest medical decision they've made all years. Uh moving right along. God, I you're fuck it. We'll cross off the we'll cross off the Eagles. Fine. Cross them off. I mean, you at this point in the season, we're halfway, right? Are we about halfway? Like halfway, halfway. Almost. Um you can't be halfway anymore because it's 17 fucking games. So you're just like, it's like halfway through after week eight. You're halfway, so I guess we are. So dumb. So stupid. Um, I mean, I'll take the extra week of football, though. It gets so sad at the end of the year. I I I get to the point where I just want to cross teams off that I don't want to talk about anymore.

SPEAKER_01

Do we have a running list of who's crossed off?

SPEAKER_00

I do, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Who we got so far?

SPEAKER_00

Okay, hold on. I gotta pull it up. Um talk amongst the team.

SPEAKER_01

You're saying you had it as if like it was right in front of you.

SPEAKER_00

I was sorry, I have to keep track of everything. So it's like you guys just sit there with your microphones.

SPEAKER_01

Well, this is meant to change. I thought Matt was gonna pull it off. I mean, it's his power rankings, too.

SPEAKER_00

So well, I didn't build the list with part of the power rankings. Uh so far we've crossed off the uh the chargers, obviously, the Titans, obviously, the Dolphins, obviously, the Commanders, obviously, the Cardinals, obviously, and the Buccaneers were sweating a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I forgot we crossed off the Bucks. Whoops.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't know. I still I think they're gonna I I don't know. I don't I don't think it's gonna be that big of a deal. Okay. Um I mean, shit. Why did we cross them the fuck off to that? NFC South? Anyone can come out of there. Yeah, they lost Baker. I know. He didn't throw a fucking pass.

SPEAKER_02

Just like the Eagles, they were losing with Baker.

SPEAKER_00

I know. It's fine. It'll be fine. It'll be okay. Uh I don't want to have to uncross anybody. That's very upsetting when that happens.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

All right. The Eagles are crossed off. Good job, everybody. Bye. Um, moving right up the list.

Ravens Collapse After Lamar Injury

SPEAKER_00

Another game that really depressed me watching it, I kind of had to like look away. Ravens at 19 played the number two on Matt's list, Baltimore uh versus Buffalo. There's a lot of bees here. Um, and a lot of a lot of bees. Baltimore spent the first month wondering when Lamar Jackson was gonna come back. And I think that was like the you know the thing. And it was like one play. Was it one play? Injured thumb left again. And then it was like thumb season. And I was like, dude, what do you have somewhere to be? Like, goddamn, that's so crazy. So we're it's I guess disappointing because we're not gonna be able to watch Lamar Jackson play football. The whole Mike's whole point about how he's you know not a playoff guy, whatever, it always comes up. I I enjoyed it. Buffalo Hammered him, 36-10. Uh, Tyler Huntley then got hurt, injured his toe. So all the digits were going down in Baltimore. Um, he got hurt, and then let's talk about QB names again. Undrafted rookie Joe Fignano, Baltimore's emergency quarterback came in. Uh, it was a car crash. I I mean I don't, I don't, I wasn't expecting anything. I don't blame the fucking guy. They might as well have been like Baltimore's emergency QB, Dave Clark is here. Like, oh shit, let me put my pants on. Um yeah, obviously they're gonna have to do something there, but uh the cool they traded for um Brissett. That's right. That's not gonna help. He sucks.

SPEAKER_01

No, dude, he got bench for uh Gardner Minshew.

SPEAKER_00

See, was is was there a part of them that was just like, I know, but like when we put Tyler Huntley in, he really like emulated Lamar and like let's go get a black guy again, you know? And like we'll just we'll just quote another one. That's what we need in this offense. We just need to put another black guy in there.

SPEAKER_01

He's so the Jacoby's like not mobile. That's a great like that's a crazy thing.

SPEAKER_00

It's like I think they think he is. They I don't yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know who the GM is there in Baltimore, but I don't I don't know if they like realize that he's not really all that mobile, and he's again you guys know uh probably he's a good locker room guy, uh, from what I remember with him in in New England, and he's serviceable, and if that's what they're looking for, then great. But they I don't know, he probably could have traded for a different backup.

SPEAKER_02

He will make the white linebackers nervous. White linebackers will see him and be nervous he's gonna run without knowing what it's supposed to say. So that's you're right.

SPEAKER_00

You know why you know why linebackers give cop energy, they give cop energy, they do, they fucking do.

SPEAKER_01

Really trying to distance myself from this. The race portion of it.

SPEAKER_00

Race exists, it exists, it does exist.

SPEAKER_01

I the only comment I made was maybe the the GM in Baltimore was a little confused and thought he was mobile. I think he was. He's not. I think he was.

SPEAKER_00

I really did. Um Do we have to cross these fuckers off too?

SPEAKER_01

The Ravens?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. We can cross Ravens off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, when you lose your start starting quarterback, you're in your backup for the year, and now you're trading for Jacoby Brissett, your season's over.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Yeah. Yeah. This is players-only meeting territory. It's like, well, they've had a players-only meeting, it's done, it's cooked. We're we're we're we're moving on.

SPEAKER_02

This is only about selling tickets for them. Like, they're just trying to recoup some money here for the season.

SPEAKER_01

It's over. That's fucking crazy. Who's buying tickets to go see Jacoby Brissett?

SPEAKER_00

What else are you doing?

SPEAKER_01

Hey, want to go uh want to go to the game? Jacoby's plan. Let me say that.

SPEAKER_00

Jacoby's is Jacoby's plan.

SPEAKER_01

No, he's he's not in the plan. No, he's not in the plan.

SPEAKER_00

Matt, have you seen Jacoby Bursett play live? Yes, I have.

SPEAKER_01

I saw him live at the uh I saw him live when uh the Patriots beat the Texans back in 2016 when Brady was suspended. That was electrical. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I was there.

SPEAKER_01

You were there. Look at us.

SPEAKER_00

I was in the way to answer your question. It's you guys.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. It was electrical.

SPEAKER_02

And what? I've been down to Baltimore for a game. Those people will go watch anything. They don't know what they're looking at. They just like tailgating and being nice and having fun. Trust me, they'll be at the stadium. They don't know who their quarterback is. They're not an informed fan base by any means.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, there's really not much else to do in Baltimore, so I don't blame them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and their original team snuck out on them in the middle of the night. Remember that?

SPEAKER_01

People forget about them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's fucked up, dude. Like that's like that's very like sad divorce dad energy. Ouch. Um, okay. They're crossed off too. This is crazy. This is interesting. This is great. Yeah, this is this is a cage match right here. We're really, we're really putting it together here. Okay, cool. Cross the bills off. Sorry, sorry, sorry. On that note, though, on that note, I and I because I do I have just a negative bend on this show so far because we've only been talking about these fucking idiots. Oh my god, my fucking dog's howling. Hold on a second.

SPEAKER_01

I can't hear them. Can't even hear the dog. Dog doesn't exist. You can't hear the dog. Okay, great. No dogs. The only dog I hear the only dog I hear is the one right here in your heart.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's right. That's right. Right. Uh went down to the pound, asked if they had any big dogs. Show me a picture of you, Zach. Um, great. Well, if you let me know if you can, and I'll make her be quiet. Um the uh yeah, on on the positive side, I mean I didn't really want to talk about the commanders at all, but moving on to the to the Bills, they they crossed off the Ravens for us.

Bills Doubts And Bears Big Talk

SPEAKER_00

I think that they are not that good. I mean, I think they're good. I think they're good, but I don't think they're Super Bowl winners. I just don't see it. A, because they're the Buffalo Bills, right? So it's hard for me to kind of disassociate them from losing and dancing around in dresses. Buffalo Bills lose in Super Bowls, dance around in dresses. I think all things considered, I shouldn't think that, right? Like on paper, they they are a really fucking good team. Josh Allen's probably the number one QB, right? Like, probably hard to argue that. Their defense is so suspect, I just don't think they have it. Is that a crazy take?

SPEAKER_02

Dude, there let me just say this. I had to watch this game because I was sitting in a restaurant and it was the only uh channel they had on. It took them a long time to put Baltimore away after Lamar went down, like a like a weird amount of time. I don't think they really ran away with it until like halfway through the third quarter. They don't look that good. They don't it's it's cocaine. There's something weird about them at the start of every game, right? Uh uh they start so crazy slow and chaotic, and they don't know the playbook, it looks like it looks like they're all confused. Their defense is not good, not good in any aspect of the game. Rousseau will come and make some sacks, and then it's kind of good luck, everybody in the secondary.

SPEAKER_01

Matt, you you're making a great pitch uh for why you move this team up four spots to number two. Buddy, it was kind of like you just spent a full minute shitting on this team. So please tell me why they're number two right now.

SPEAKER_02

Uh there's a reason that they're not number one. It's that big old loss.

SPEAKER_01

No shit, they're not number one. Why are they number two?

SPEAKER_02

The only reason they're not number one is because they're number two. Um who would you put ahead of them? Who's you put you're gonna put a five and two Jaguars team ahead of them who what? Yeah, great differential in scoring, but beat the Colts. Uh the Broncos, who Yeah, they beat the Chiefs. The Chiefs look like they're kind of waning away. I know who I put ahead of them.

SPEAKER_00

You just said it. You just said it.

SPEAKER_02

Do I get into it?

SPEAKER_00

I'll say this. Like, I we uh they were next up on the list, but I will say this. Like, I now am in a position for the first time, like in I don't know, a decade plus to actually think about other teams in relation to the Bears. Like, would I be scared to play this team? Would I be scared to see this team in if in the Bills case the Super Bowl or like you know in the playoffs or whatever? I would pick like I would pick a couple of other AFC teams uh to to play um uh that that would be more difficult to play in the Bills. Yeah, like I think I would probably be alright with them. Like right now, I just look at them, I look at their defense, and I'm like, I think we would drop 50 on them. I don't even think it would matter. I don't even think whatever they because I I think I think our offense is comparable to their offense. I don't think that Caleb, I I like I it's hard to make a case for him as like on that level because he hasn't done it as consistently, but uh you know he hasn't had enough time, but he will. And yeah, I just think I don't know, we got Jeffrey Simmons now. I I'm kind of gonna become insufferable over the next few weeks. So yeah, I would take the Bills on in a in a Super Bowl situation. I mean, of all the franchises that you want to see, like I said this about the Pats in the past, except the opposite. Of all the franchises you want to see, of all the DNA you want to see across from you in the Super Bowl, the Bills are my number one AFC choice if that's the only context. The Pats, my last choice, right? So it's like, yeah, fuck it. Like, I'll fucking play the Bills. I don't give a shit.

SPEAKER_02

So pause right there. Hold on, pause right there. Craig, my lovely Craig, clip that shit. We're gonna need that later. This is shaking out.

SPEAKER_00

You're calling out, you're calling out Josh Allen? You're calling Josh Allen now? Damn, bro. I'm honestly not scared of fucking anybody right now after after Monday night. Like, I can't, it's I can't even fucking I don't all my trauma, all my years of like the rug getting pulled out from under me. I don't give a fuck to anybody. Just line them up at this point. Honestly, line them up. I don't give a shit. Not one, not one single shit.

SPEAKER_02

Ignore all my claims about calling the Bears to the Super Bowl now. I know the way the universe works. Dave is gonna be punished so badly for this. So badly for this.

SPEAKER_00

It's not gonna be a punishment. It's not gonna be a punishment. It's a tough year. It's not, it's it's be sad if they if they you know if they don't win the Super Bowl. Like I thought my expectations coming into the season. What I wanted was a good football team. What I got was a good football team. That's it.

SPEAKER_01

You got a great football team, is what you got. Not a good football team, a great football team. Thanks, man. You know, Zachary. And it's a shame you only have them ranked the even move them on. You didn't even move them on your power rankings, Matt. You left them at number five.

SPEAKER_02

I can defend that, but let me just let me just put this out here first. I remember watching Dave's favorite player of all time return the opening kick of a Super Bowl for a touchdown. And anybody that's ever watched a Super Bowl knows that when shit like that happens, there's a strip sack, there's a safety, there's a return for a touchdown. That's a bad thing for a Super Bowl. Super Bowls are volatile, they're not like regular games. And then I watched his soul get slowly stripped from his body by the Indianapolis Colts. And I'll never forget the look on his face. Like when he finally realized, like, this is my punishment for being so happy. Dave, be careful, my friend. Well, I told you. Well, I told you to get the duck boats ready for the Bears. What'd you say? You said shut the fuck up.

SPEAKER_00

I said we don't do duck boats in Chicago. It's gonna be too fucking cold on the lake. But the but the uh that's stupid as shit we do in Boston. I don't know. Fucking duck boats, dude. I'm going to Boston. I want to I want to see some cool stuff. I'm going to Boston. Uh, we made some boats look like ducks. Like that's what we got.

SPEAKER_01

Hold on. They don't physically look like ducks, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Feel like ducks. They're nearby ducks.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, put it supposed to be. To be honest, I don't know. I don't know why it's called a duck boat.

SPEAKER_00

Don't they have like the kind of the back is kind of raised up, it kind of looks like no, it's just like they go in the water and they go on land. But like ducks are like a duck. Both they're amphibious because the because the thing underneath is what propels them, like a duck.

SPEAKER_02

Like a duck.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So they kind of are like I'm gonna fucking kill myself if we keep talking about this. All I'm saying is to add context, to add context to what you're talking about. Yes, you did see me watch them losing the Super Bowl. Yes, that's heartbreaking. I'm not thinking about that right now. I'm not thinking about the bears going to the Super Bowl. Everyone else in the country is the entire fucking nation. Won't shut the fuck up about it. I would love if they would stop. I would genuinely love if they would stop because guess who never is the best team? Everybody's week eight best team. So, like, I really don't want that. It's it never works out well for the week eight best team. I'm not hanging week eight banners around here. What I am doing is I'm saying at 36, I have a considerable, a considerably larger breadth of knowledge of the NFL and sports in general and how they work to not be as worried about just like what I say affecting it. I should have known at 16, but I was a fucking idiot at 16, like all of us. I should have known at 16 that you can't go and play Peyton Manning in 2006 when the other QB is Rex Grossman. I should have known that. I should have been like, I'm so happy we got to the Super Bowl. That was such a fun season. I'm now gonna watch them lose to the Colts. I agree that my expectations were entirely misplaced. I have a good quarterback now. That's never happened to me before. I just like I just let people enjoy things. That's all I'm doing right now. The Bears are the like the only team to beat back-to-back weeks, the two teams that played in the Super Bowl, right? The Bears are went in there and were the only team to have a quarterback put up 200 plus yards on the Seattle Seahawks defense this year. And notably they've played Drake May and Patrick Mahomes. I genuinely, it was our coming out party. It was. And we're here, right? We're here. Our corners are still absolute fucking ass. They're so bad. And it's not just because JSN, it's they're so bad. We need cornerback help. I hope we we do something there. It's looks pretty stilted without Kyle Manungay in there. We're a two-man uh running back situation. We have to stay healthy pretty much everywhere if we really want to do anything. And again, it's week eight. And yeah, I mean, I don't know. I think I have a good coach, a good quarterback, and a I think it's a little bit of a decent defense. They're better than I thought, and they're better now with with Simmons. So I'm not that's where I'm at.

SPEAKER_02

But the quarterbacks are liability, and now you're calling out Josh Allen, like you wouldn't be afraid of him.

SPEAKER_00

The quarterbacks are liability. What whose quarterback's a liability? Not my fucking quarterback. Oh, cornerback. Yeah, I don't know, man. Uh we'll probably get to him. It doesn't matter. Let them drop 40 on us. I don't give a shit. I think we can drop 52 on the fucking Bills. Genuinely. I really there's teams that I would not be talking like this about, genuinely. Like, I if if we were playing the 49ers in the in the NFC championship game, I'd be shitting myself. Genuinely, I would. I would be like, I don't know. They're just they're so well coached. They're they're like the same uh offense first philosophy as us, but they're three to five years ahead. Um, you know, they they they have such an amazing next man up mentality that they're not gonna be worried about injuries by the time we play them. Like, there's there's I would not be talking like this if I was if I was playing the the the 49ers in a championship situation. But Mike asked me early on, he was like, What if you saw Aaron Rodgers again in the Super Bowl? What if you what if he it was like he was gonna take it from you and da-da-da. I'm like, I would I if you gave me my choice of realistic teams that maybe could possibly go to the Super Bowl, maybe because like obviously I just picked the Dolphins or something, right? But like there's no chance of that. But maybe the Steelers, maybe through some miracle, could make it to the Super Bowl, that would be fucking amazing for me. Like, I would be so happy if the Bears saw the Steelers in the Super Bowl and I got to beat Aaron Rodgers because I don't even know if I would need to turn the game on at that point, to be honest with you. Like, that's a fucking foregone conclusion.

SPEAKER_02

But for me, the 49ers are expected to be there at the end. They like they're already wearing that pressure, that that suit of armor on them. The three teams I wouldn't want to see in the Super Bowl if I were a team like the 49ers would be the Bears or the Chiefs, which is a play them in the Super Bowl. I under I understand. So now it's an idiot. The three playoff teams I wouldn't want to see would be the Bears, the Chiefs, and the Bills, just because you don't know what that could be. The Chiefs, really. After the last two weeks, the Chiefs. 100%. You want to play Patrick Mahomes in the playoff game?

SPEAKER_00

Are you out of your mind? I'd be alright with it after over the past two weeks.

SPEAKER_01

I to kind of defend Met on that one. Uh yeah, the Chiefs have looked kind of like ass this year, and they didn't make the playoffs last year, but I mean they they make a deep run every time they're in the playoffs. They they are dangerous every time. Uh every time. So if they were if they were to make the playoffs, I would say look out. But to also go on your side there, Dave, uh the last Super Bowl they played in was atrocious.

SPEAKER_00

And they were awful.

SPEAKER_01

So I think an important question though is like, you know, Super Bowls in LA. Like, are you are you gonna get ready to go? Like are you trying to save some money for when the Bears inevitably play like down the street from you? Like, what's what's the plan?

SPEAKER_02

He has an in for tickets, he'll be there for free.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, I would, I would, I would not want to go. I would not. No, you you wouldn't go. I don't think I would want to.

SPEAKER_01

So if you were given the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl down the street from you and see your Chicago Bears, Dave Clark's own Chicago Bears, you wouldn't go.

SPEAKER_00

If they were if I was just getting the tickets, maybe, but it's not down the street, first of all. It takes two hours to get anywhere where I live, but I will say, yes, obviously, it's very accessible. I think football is a better TV sport than it is a live sport. Oh my god. Have you ever seen the Bears live? Yeah. A few times. But it's But you wouldn't go to a Super Bowl. I mean, I would go. I would go. And it's like, yeah, but what if the tickets are like 10 grand? No, I'll just watch it as fucking at home. It's fine. I don't have to get back from I don't have to get back from fucking Inglewood if the Bears lost. That drive is like that. Honestly, I'm not making it back. I'm not I'm gonna be like the fucking the the spray is face guy on in Fury Road and I'm gonna be like witness me and I'm just gonna jump out of the car. It's like it's it's gonna be all over. I can't. It would just be too the the downside would be too great. Um, yeah, I mean, of course I would want to see it, but why do you do that, right? Like, why do you put yourself through the atrocious live event slog because you can say you were there, right? And I don't really care about that, to be honest. Because here's the great thing about free will you can still just say that. No one's gonna check. It's fine. Just like 10 years, but you remember Brian Scalabrini? Yep. Yeah, in five years, I'll tell my kids I played in 15 years. I started in 25 years, I was the MVP. Like life's what you make it. Um, I don't know, man. It's that stadium sucks to get to, but yeah, of course I would I would try to go, sure, if if they were in it. But this is but this is again, we're way ahead of ourselves here. I don't know. Is it just because ESPN's talking about the Bears going to the Super Bowl because of like two games?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. The power rankings have them as the number two NFC team, so I'm just saying it's a very realistic possibility, and you just have to keep this in mind. That's all.

SPEAKER_00

A lot can happen. That's all.

SPEAKER_01

I just I'm not saying it's happening, I'm just saying consider it.

SPEAKER_00

I'm saying it's happening. I'm just I don't like logistics of getting to a stadium. I don't even know what to do with myself. Like, I don't even know how I'm gonna sleep. You know, like I've got bigger problems.

SPEAKER_01

I love I love this whole thing. It's like, oh yeah, it's a pain in the ass to get to Englewood, not like guys, shut the fuck up about the Bears getting to the Super Bowl. Like, don't don't jinx it. No, it's like he's yeah, but the drive, the drive is terrible.

SPEAKER_02

Like he's on a vibe, he has to find another reason to do it.

SPEAKER_01

So he so Dave does think that the bears are going to the Super Bowl. He didn't deny it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's terrified of it. He's terrified of the of the jinx of the the the karma points of the universe turning against him. I know who I'm talking to. I know who I'm doing. I am terrified of all those things. Having said that, I've sold three Patriots Super Bowl tickets. I've sold three. I don't want to sit there and I I watch the Super Bowl in the most stressful, chaotic, depressive manner of all time. I couldn't do it at the stadium.

SPEAKER_00

That's the other thing. I I might get in a fight, you know, like that's like it's just like I don't know. It's just it's tough. It's tough. I did learn something recently. I went to see Oasis at the Rose Bowl, which is another nightmare fucking venue in in uh the Los Angeles, greater Los Angeles area, to uh get in and out of. And I learned a few valuable lessons. Remember that in your 30s, especially, you can't drink all day and then kind of stop drinking because it's hard to go to the concessions once you actually sit in your seats. You're just gonna get tired. So just do something else or just like be relatively sober, like maybe have a couple of beers. That's a great lesson for anybody else out there because you're just gonna get exhausted. Secondly, uh, you can leave before the encore. You can 100% leave before the encore. Like, I think the encore they played was Champagne Supernova, and I'm like, that's fine. I'm like, I saw a bunch of Oasis songs. If this means I get home two hours earlier, I'm out. Uh I'm I'm fully I'm fully shuffling to the to the shuttle bus. But you can't really do that in Englewood. Like you're kind of fucking in it for the long haul, and then you're surrounded by football fans. It's I don't know. We'll have to cross that bridge if we come to it, Zach. If not when. If be nice though. Um,

Broncos Beat Chiefs And Ref Drama

SPEAKER_00

all right. Speaking of the Chiefs, because we did sort of touch on them, so we can talk about them now if you want. Um number six on your list, Matt. Number four. So you think the Bears are better than the Chiefs because they're a place behind. Um playing number four the Broncos. Uh, a good game, an exciting game up until the end. Bonex haters, maybe take pause. He he looked alright. Um Kansas City's offense kind of outperformed Denver's offense, but I think Denver sort of showed up when they needed to. I here's the thing. I'll just start with this. When you're really good and you're the Kansas City Chiefs, and you're as good as they were from, like, say that Tyreek Hill, they can score in 14 seconds era, all the way to like Mahomes is still going to Super Bowls, even though we kind of didn't think he had enough weapons like two years ago. That whole era, you can be whoever you want as a fan base, essentially, right? Like your identity doesn't really matter. You can say and do whatever you want because you're just better than everybody, and you have Pat Mahomes. The fucking discourse about this, it was a false start. It was a false start. I I don't I don't know what to tell you guys. I like it. You sound dumb when you're like it's like just win the game, just keep the refs out of it. And you know who used to always do that? Patrick Mahomes for the most part. Couple notable exceptions, but for the for the most part, I used to say, ah, don't don't do the discourse of like Blake, like, oh, the Chiefs, like the refs are on their fucking side. Because I used to remember teams, uh rival fans doing that about the Patriots. And to me, as a neutral, it just sort of looked like a wash most of the time. Because never ascribe malice to what is probably incompetence, and with referees, that's usually the case, right? I I just don't want to hear it from this fucking Chiefs fan base anymore, including Pat Mahomes' wife. Like it was a false start. I hate to tell you. Secondly, just win the game. You were in the fucking red zone, make a play. You're Patrick fucking Mahomes, make a play. It didn't bode well, but it was exactly the kind of game that that Denver Broncos team wins. And Sean Payton has historically won because he's just cunty like that. He just gives that that energy off. You know what I mean? I was like, I was looking at it in the red zone. I was like, Sean Payton, he's gonna cunt this one out. He's gonna cunt it right out, and we're gonna we're gonna be just fine. And he did 28-24.

SPEAKER_01

That's just his face.

SPEAKER_00

I know, I hate his face. Uh very impressive win. It was a it was, and I think you know, the funny part being Kansas City actually outgained Denver 39 to 294. Mahomes threw 321, three touchdowns, no turnovers. He was the better quarterback on the day, obviously. Um, and quietly, Denver's won four straight after they started two and two. So we have to start talking about them. We can't call their record fake anymore because they just beat the Chiefs, and that still means something, right? Um, they beat Seattle, and I hope that means something. Uh these are meaningful wins. Knicks doesn't have to be Mahomes to win games. That's what we learned this week. So uh I mean, you've obviously moved these around, Matt. What do you make of Denver all of a sudden? I I feel like it's time to start thinking about your AFC rivals, right? And I I know that they want revenge on you guys. So could it happen again?

SPEAKER_02

So I've been saying all year I was scared of Denver. Not so much their offense, but more their defense, and how they won that game with Bo going down the field and then Patty doing Patty's thing. And we've also we've seen it so many times. Well, there's how much time, 13 seconds left in the clock, he's on the 10-yard line. Like, oh fuck, he fucking did it again. They stuffed Kenneth Walker, they stuffed Patty. They no, that's happening two weeks in a row now. I there might be some tape issues here. Oh two weeks in a row, it didn't look like the chief team. Like, I'm gonna give teams like a little bit of deference to look like shit like that. But the way they came up and plugged holes and uh literally were on him every step of the way. The whole thing about Patty is it doesn't matter if you know the play, he's gonna create something. That's what he does. He was fucking fresh out there, man. Fresh out. He got sacked, he got dragged down to end the game. You don't see it every day. I was very impressed by the Broncos defense. They stuck to it. That's a dangerous team.

SPEAKER_00

Zach, in defense of uh the Kansas City Chiefs, like uh and this is a game we used to play in the power rankings every year. Uh every time that Bobby wouldn't put the Chiefs number one when they were clearly the best team in the NFL for all those seasons, I would be like, okay, let's play a little game. They play this team in the AFC Championship, who do you who are you putting your actual real money on? And he would have to say the Chiefs. Or they play this team in the Super Bowl, who are you putting real money on? And he would have to say the Chiefs. They're not that team anymore. They still might have something, and I'm not saying I'm not putting you in that position, but I'm asking you, if they played again tomorrow in a neutral field, you betting on the Broncos? Are we at that point?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, if it's a neutral field, it's a toss-up. Uh and the Broncos are 4-0 at home.

SPEAKER_00

But I'm still always putting my money on Mahomes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, still. But that's why I say like if you do a neutral field, um, which is I mean, AFC championship last year with the snow and backup quarterback and this and that. So like it is kind of surprising that the Pats won, but wasn't that a good one?

SPEAKER_00

That game doesn't tell you anything.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it doesn't that's the thing. It really doesn't. But any normal circumstance like that game on Sunday between the Chiefs and Broncos, yeah. I mean, it's the best home field advantage, and football continues to be, always will be. Um, so yeah, if you said neutral field, it's kind of a toss-up because, like you said, Mahomes did play very well, 321, three uh tutties. Like he had a good game. I'm just very happy that Mike's not on this podcast today to shit on Kenneth Walker for not getting into the end zone after I've been hyping up all year. It's great. Between that and like he's a good running back.

SPEAKER_00

You just can't rely on a running back for an entire season unless because it's like people would go, Oh, what about Saquon that year? And I would go, You they didn't rely on a running back that season, they relied on the best offensive line in football. Like, that's what happened that year. I mean, Saquon's great, but he and yeah, he jumped over a guy, it was awesome. But their offensive line was fucking crazy that year.

SPEAKER_02

So it's like and by the way, they had two massive deep threats down the field, so you had to push your safeties back.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, you were spread out every single time. So, like, that's how you did that that year. It's it's it's crazy when that works. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

But again, glad, but again, glad Mike isn't here for that and for uh bringing up Penix. So really, really great time to not have Mike on the pod.

SPEAKER_02

Don't do that. Don't do that to make it.

SPEAKER_01

I'm telling all, I'm saying it's a great time to not have Mike on the pod. Great time. True.

SPEAKER_02

But I gotta disagree with you. There's one thing I gotta disagree with you. If literally any game on neutral field, how

Mahomes Versus Brady Reality Check

SPEAKER_02

do you not give that to Patrick Mahomes? Who has played more games on neutral fields? That's his that's his bread and butter, but true.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm I I am saying that it's I'm saying that's why it's a toss-up. Like if it was another game in Denver, I'm taking Denver again. But in a neutral field, it it's a toss-up because of Patrick Mahomes.

SPEAKER_00

Um to like not to gas up Patriots fans, but I think what happened to like the collective sort of trauma centers of NFL fans' brains is that when they looked kind of good at the start of the season, everyone that remembers the Pats had that, oh shit, they're inevitable like thing, like that kind of medulla oblumgata reaction of like, oh, this is our modern era, this thing. But I think if Patrick Mahomes has proved anything over just in in isolation over the past four seasons, is that he's not Tom Brady. And I don't think that that's any slight on him because and because that's what that's what ESPN is gonna be doing, right? They're gonna be like, but comparing to and it's like beaten with the yardstick of your own success is just so off-putting to me. It's like you're so good that you're bad again. You know what I mean? Like you're you're you're the worst of the best now. Like it's so stupid, right? But he was never gonna be because Brady never relied on his athleticism. Now, can Patrick Mahomes blossom and develop into like an unbelievable pocket QB? Can he can he change his game to the point where he's you know, Peyton Manning in Denver, where his fucking neck is basically a robot neck and he breaks the touchdown record somehow? Like, sure. I mean, I think that season was a little weird, but whatever. I I was like, what is happening? Can you guys just like put a safety on the field? Um, it kind of felt like it was just being like given to it. It was very strange. But I do, and it was not the best version of Peyton Manning, but I I do think he can like switch his game up and and and start to and still be a top five QB for the next few years, but the skill positions around him are just like not what they used to be, right? And like Travis Kelsey's limping off the field after you know every two plays, and I don't know if the motivation's there, they're professionals still, and Andy Reid's still got a bag, don't get me wrong. But and yeah, it's still it they're still a scary team to see in the AFC. I mean, you guys might see him. So I I I know what the what the tenor of the conversation is gonna be if you if the Patriots play the the Chiefs at any point in the play in the playoffs, and if it's the championship game, it's gonna be even worse. So there you go.

SPEAKER_01

But there's any if there's any QB that can adapt like the way Brady did, and it's and that's kind of like again, I hate doing the the comparison, but I know Brady never had like the athleticism, so he had to rely on his smarts and he had to rely on uh and his arm went a little. Arm a little, but it was just the the pocket presence and all that. But if there is a QB that could be a good one, if there is a QB that could do it, it's Patrick Mahomes. He's got a great coach, offensive-minded coach to help him along the way. And they're never gonna quit on him. No, and and also the fact that his like you mentioned, the fact he's he's had years where he didn't have weapons, but they still made deep playoff runs.

SPEAKER_00

Not again, though, not quite as much as Brady used to do.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, not as much for sure. But it's still it's still a reflection on how Mahomes can handle the offense and handle himself and still kind of carry that team.

SPEAKER_02

You're right. There's so I it's I hate the comparison. It's not fair to Pat Mahomes. There's only one Achilles motherfucker. There's only one, and it's Brady. The thing he needs to do that Brady did is just die at the end. Achilles dies at the end. Everybody dies at the end.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I think if anyone can live forever, it's probably Brady. I think he's got that. I he might have the corner on that market.

SPEAKER_02

But what Pat Mahomes needs to do is defer his salary and get some talent on the roster. That's what Brady did that made him different than everyone else. Is he was able to secure players that worked in the system that kept him going forward. And when we weren't able to do that, he left to another team that could do it.

SPEAKER_01

You know what else Pat Mahomes needs to do is kiss his bath on the his son on the mouth.

SPEAKER_00

Don't god damn it. Honestly, mouth kissed. What if that's it? What if that's the thing? You don't you honestly you're getting paid a lot of money, so you gotta try everything. Okay, you gotta you gotta you gotta try to get every advantage.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if I need to mouth kiss my son, but I mean I guess I could try it if it's gonna make me like Tom Brady. That's pretty good.

SPEAKER_01

That's not bad. Not bad. Not bad. Not bad. Not bad. There's a little bit of ketchup on it first.

SPEAKER_00

You've you're giving it a little trucker because it's because there's the there's gravel in your voice because of years of like smoking and vaping. Uh oh, yeah, no, it's because you're

Patriots Adjustments And Drake May Growth

SPEAKER_00

sick, sorry. Um okay, well, on that note, uh, we do have to talk about the New England Patriots, and I'd rather talk about them and look ahead to the Packers fashion, to be honest, because I'll briefly state that I told you guys you weren't gonna fall into the trap of going to Miami and losing. The Dolphins team is just too bad for a second, dude. For a second.

SPEAKER_01

I tell you what, I don't like I I hate my team losing, but I do love being right. And for a little bit, I'm like, am I gonna go on the pod this week and be like, hey, I told you guys they're gonna lose in Miami. Uh no, we're not. We're we weren't gonna do that. So it's it's great that uh we could.

SPEAKER_03

For quick second.

SPEAKER_01

It was actually kind of cool. I'm like, oh, I'm gonna have something to talk about and sound smart. Still a dumbass. It's fine.

SPEAKER_00

I loved it personally because they were down 13 and 3 at halftime. You guys had filled my head with all these trauma core memories of going to Miami and like having a way better team than them and coughing up the win. And I didn't listen, and I bet on the New England Patriots to come back and win a good odd. So that was fun. Um, I like the fact that they made halftime adjustments because everybody says that the halftime adjustments are kind of overrated. But I think what it does do at the very least is it gives the offensive coordinator and the head coach time to sort of not change the playbook, but go to one plan 1B, you know? And I think that's what it looked like they did out there. Like they were basically like, okay, we need to start moving this offensive line a little bit. Let's start moving the pocket a little bit so Drake can actually like start making some plays, and we'll just trust our guy to get it done because this Dolphins team is fucking terrible. They gave him a little bit more on the underneath. They gave him like what's starting to happen with Drake now, which is kind of crazy because he's so young, is his deep ball is is like a known thing now. So you can actually just dummy threaten it and teams bite on it super hard, and then he can start actually making plays in the underneath. I would love to see him making like 15-yard plays a little bit more. Does that make sense? Like sort of just crossing routes and stuff like because he's he's good at the check down, he's good at stepping up in the pocket, making plays. He's good at kind of you know recognizing late leaks and screens, which I I respect. Like he's a very talented guy. I love the fake and the uh and the scramble in. That was super cool play to watch. Like he's a hybrid.

SPEAKER_01

To be honest, I thought that was so overrated. Really? I thought that was so overrated.

SPEAKER_00

I thought it looked really cool.

SPEAKER_01

No, he looked like Rajan Rondo, like faking the pitch.

SPEAKER_00

Rajan Rondo looked really cool when he did that.

SPEAKER_01

Right, but like who who the fuck falls for that? It wasn't actually like no one ever ever no one no one passed the ball like that and you're falling for it. And like if you're gonna pitch a football, like then people like I don't know. Yeah, that's the other thing. It was with the dolphins, like it was cute. That's all it was.

SPEAKER_00

It was cute, though. It did work, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But it was it was overrated, it was it was a soft six points.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but every every six against the dolphins is soft, they're all easy points. You just guys forgot that in the first half. That's all that happened.

SPEAKER_02

It's like looking at Dr. J being like, well, that wouldn't work today. Like, dude, what it worked then, like it was sick then when he threw the back and then up and then come on, man.

SPEAKER_00

That was where the prompt you guys was because from my perspective, the way you were asking, you know, oh, you you know, you're gonna call out Josh Allen, oh, you're nervous, you're not nervous to see this

Are The Patriots Built For Playoffs

SPEAKER_00

guy. The team that I see as a a very scary playoff contender is the Patriots for this reason. They had an abysmal two weeks where I thought Drake May had regressed so much as a quarterback that he was never gonna be the same again. Because that's basically what every single quarterback, what happens to every single quarterback if that level of play comes in after a Super Bowl loss. Like it really was bad, right? It was really like, why are you throwing the ball to that guy? That's nuts. Then they they had the mental toughness, they had the resilience, they went through something, they f they put their heads together, they figured it out, they turned it around, they went on a winning streak. They lose to the Bears in a very good game, a hotly contested Thursday night game in prime time. It's it, you know, I'm not saying this to talk shit about the Patriots, but it kind of the scoreline flattered them a little bit. I think it kind of seemed like the Bears were gonna win if you look at it as a whole for the whole game. But that's fine. It doesn't seem like it's that bad to lose to the Bears. And then they recover again. And they come in and in a situation that looks like a big fucking banana skin, like a real, like, oh my god, now we have to play a divisional opponent that always beats us in their place. And look what happened. They was they were mentally tough. Mental toughness is so important in postseason runs, and they clearly have that, especially with a young QB. So do you believe me? Or are you gonna do the thing I was doing earlier where you're trying to hedge your bets and and you know not jinx them?

SPEAKER_02

Well, let me let me say this. I think it's a really I think it was more of an important win than people realize because we were so short uh uh on players, like they didn't have to put anyone out on the field to risk any more injury, and they still got it done. And they got it done in uh in the second half in convincing fashion. I this team to me doesn't feel like uh a uh a Super Bowl threat or a playoff threat, really, because I think when they have a game plan uh and a a really good team gets on top of them, it's very hard for this team to arch a comeback. I haven't uh I mean uh Zach, am I wrong? Have you seen them against a good team come back and steal something? Not really, right? They kind of they can mitigate damage uh against good teams, but yeah, bad teams they can come out and middle through and then blow them out. Uh fine. Uh I just haven't seen it yet. And it makes me nervous. I just don't know if Rabel's that guy uh that can can like archetype like a like a big comeback moment. And sometimes the playoffs call for that.

SPEAKER_01

I I think like the biggest I mean in terms of like a playoff threat, whatever, I think number one, this is looking ahead, is injuries. That that's first and foremost. Yeah. Uh who knows if AJ Brown's actually gonna block if he comes back? Who knows if he's actually gonna catch the ball? Uh Romeo Dobbs, is he gonna be an actual good receiver when he comes back? Who knows? Um and the offensive line is is just an absolute mess of rotations left and right. The hard job it is. It's just so the injuries to me, like I wouldn't look at them as a uh threat in unless they're fully healthy going into the playoffs. The Dave, to make it uh to go back on your point about halftime adjustments, I almost prefer a team to come out and like blow the doors off in the first half, and then maybe they let the the opposing team kind of creep back. To me, that says that you're prepared going into a game, you you know what you're gonna do, you know your game plan, it's working. And then the second half, like, yeah, maybe they're taking the the foot off the gas a little bit, that's fine. Uh I I came away from this game like not feeling good because I'm like, yeah, the weather sucks, but both teams are playing in crap weather. Yep. And you're losing badly to a shit Dolphins team. Like it's divisional, though. And that's fine. It's fine.

SPEAKER_00

But that was that was they fucked them up in the end, though, so whatever. I mean, it kind of came down to it at the end. It wasn't like a no not like not when you were watching it. You were like, oh, this is what's happening.

SPEAKER_01

I I said last week that they had to win by seven points in order to be a quality win, and they only won by five. Like, that's not good. That's not to me, that's not a good win. Like that was a terrible Dolphins team that you should have easily handled. And you go into halftime down 13 to 3. That's awful. I'm sorry. Like you you have to be, and you have extra rest after playing on uh Thursday night against a very good team. So you have extra rest. You just played a great team.

SPEAKER_00

Extra rest that didn't do anything for them, though. Like AJ Brown, Romeo Dobbs, like you said, Mack Hollins, Travion Henderson, uh Vera Tucker, Mike on when you fucking Hunter Henry left in the middle of the game with a foot injury. Like you guys were fucking decimated. You know, like that offensive line was already having trouble. That's fine.

SPEAKER_01

Even that a team that's decimated like that should still fucking not be down 13 to 3 at halftime for the Dolphins. That's embarrassing. That's right.

SPEAKER_02

You can't out scheme the Dolphins in the first half.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they did. They did out scheme the Dolphins in the end. Like McDaniels actually did go and figure it out with like a lot of missing pieces.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think a lot of it was they weighed them out too. Like they they really weighed them out and stretched the field. But even then, like, I just I don't know, man. It doesn't feel right. I think they're two years away from being really, really competitive.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's the thing, right? Like, this is the thing we don't really know about this New England Patriots team.

Packers Preview And Pats Standards Debate

SPEAKER_00

Is that are they and I think this, I really want to do a look ahead to the Packers game because this is a referendum game for both teams. It's it's perfect timing in the context of both their seasons, but the Patriots do continually bounce between, you know, this group over here, AFC contender, this group over here, young team ahead of schedule. Like those are sort of your two options, right? You are firmly in the young team ahead of schedule camp, and it's almost a detriment that they went to the Super Bowl last year, if you think like that, right? Because it's like, you know, like the the Bears lost to the Rams in the uh game before, was it, yeah. So, you know, we played two playoff games and lost. And it's just like, okay, right on time. It kind of felt good, you know, because I'm like, oh, they looked all right, you know, like the Rams are much better last year somehow than they are this year, whatever it is. Maybe they'll turn it around. We had that huge comeback against the Packers, which felt great, but that seems right on time, right? You almost want to be right on time. Then they make these big strides this year, they start adding pieces great. It being done by your own expectations is the issue here. So you have to really forget about that Super Bowl appearance, you know, if that's how you're thinking about it. But looking ahead to this Packers-Patriots game, perfect referendum. Um, this is simple. Patriots win and they look too low in the power rankings, like right away. Uh, they're six and three, playoff conversation has to start happening. We start talking about real timelines about the players, and this like Debbie Downer thing you guys are doing after they didn't like blow Miami out of the water is kind of done, right? If you guys go and beat the Packers, which, spoiler alert, I think you're going to, and I think you're going to convincingly, um because they're actually gonna play football. They're actually gonna play football against you. Here's the thing that's the crazy part, right? The Miami Dolphins, they weren't so much playing football as they were like, I don't know, going through the divisional motions, you know, just sort of hoping the game script went their way, hoping momentum in the narrative would go their way. And it did for a second and then it didn't. And I think the Patriots staying in the pocket really helped with that. But um, and I don't mean that literally, I mean like in the metaphorical sense, they remained calm and they didn't freak out that they might lose to the Dolphins. But moving forward, if you lose, fine. Uh I'll I'll say that you guys know more about your team than I do, which is definitely true either way, but I do think that it's a little bit you're either reverse jinxing or you're too low on them because I've I've seen them play, they're a good team, and I don't think they're worse than the Packers. I really don't. All you have to do is put two safeties high against the Packers, it's just no one's done it yet. I don't understand why. I it's really strange.

SPEAKER_02

We have we have this gift and a curse of watching what a what a dominant team looks like. It's it's it's hard to separate yourself from it sometimes to remember like that was the Brady Belichick era, like that's not this now, but like we know what it looks like and what it feels like when we're not at risk here.

SPEAKER_00

But didn't you lose to the dolphins in Miami during the Brady Belichick era all the time? It never mattered.

SPEAKER_02

So why does it matter now? Because we're not that team anymore. Our quarterback drives on the sidelines and throws nine picks in four weeks, and we're just not that team anymore.

SPEAKER_00

He's gotta clean the interceptions up, I agree, but still.

SPEAKER_02

Is Tom available? Is he is he around?

SPEAKER_01

And the Patriots back back then, uh to Matt's point, like they were always guaranteed to have between like 12 and 14 wins. So you kind of expected one of those losses or a couple of those losses to be one in Miami and then one against like a really good uh you know, first place team in another division. So uh it was just kind of of a given at that point.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and you know, yeah, like you'd always be haunted by the Ravens, remember? Like it was like Brady just hated playing against Ed Reed, and it he was just like, ah fuck. And that was one he would just give up every year, but it didn't matter.

SPEAKER_01

Even even uh in 2007, uh this is just such a niche. You know that that game where they came back and won the last second to uh to stay perfect, uh you know, people like oh, the great Ravens team, you know, Ray Lewis, this and that. That Ravens team finished five at eleven that year.

SPEAKER_03

Right, they were horrible.

SPEAKER_01

They were not a good team, but they still gave the Patriots issues. So um, but yeah, they like to the point, like it's just they there's always teams back then that give issues, whereas now you have to kind of prove that you are a you have to prove you're good. You have to beat bad teams because this is a new era, it's not it's not Brady Belly.

SPEAKER_00

Based on the tenor of this conversation, do you neither of you guys think you're gonna beat the Packers?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think that I I mean it's a three-point spread in favor of the Pats, but the only thing that's making me think that the Patriots sh like will is uh I think the Packers offensive line is dog shit. Is that correct to say?

SPEAKER_00

Um really bad. They they give him f they yes, they're not great, but I mean Love has been pretty good. Uh it's it's not showing up as much as it should on paper. He's he's kind of made some decent adjustments. He's looked pretty good. I will also say they keep him alive long enough for the receivers to get downfield, which I you should try and prevent, obviously, because they're they're really airing it out. I would just say like you there's a lot on tape of what they're doing, and it's not super complicated. You know, I I think defensively you could really make adjustments to to stop their offense. And I also think defensively, I think you can cut them up. I really just think they're overrated.

SPEAKER_02

And I also think is the over under 45. Over under 45 means Vegas knows that stifling the team.

SPEAKER_01

I'd bet the over there. Ugly ugly, ugly. But 24-21 sounds like a right score. That doesn't sound out of the Remo possibility.

SPEAKER_00

I would go more like 35-21 pounds. You think it'd be that high scoring?

SPEAKER_01

No way.

SPEAKER_00

I think the Pat the Packers fucking suck, dude. Fuck those guys. No, but like no, but but Josh James.

SPEAKER_01

I know what you feel about with the Packers, but I I I don't think that uh so is there.

SPEAKER_00

I think their defense is is Swiss cheese, man. I really I like they they stopped us because we you know I don't know what the fuck happened in that game, honestly, but I I hope we put a lot of good stuff in there.

SPEAKER_01

I I guess like again, that I'm kind of scarred from this Dolphins game. It's in uh New England. Yeah, oh you're you're gonna be fine. But I guess I'm kind of scarred from just this dolphins game because the coverage in that the Dolphins coverage in the secondary is just awful. That was some of the worst defensive coverage I've seen in the past couple. Awful, horrendous. So if you can't capitalize and score 30 plus on Miami, how the fuck are they scored 35 in the Packers? I'm sorry, I just I don't see that happening. So I think if the Pats win, it's gonna be by a field goal, maybe a point. But I think you're gonna fuck them up. I don't know. I don't see it.

SPEAKER_00

I would like you to fuck them up.

SPEAKER_01

I I would like to see it. It'd be great. I I would enjoy seeing them fucking. Are you scared?

SPEAKER_00

But talk talk about the talk about the the fear of of QB's thing. You know, you you want to see Josh Allen? You give a scared about Jordan Love? You think you give a fuck about Jordan Love? Do you really give a fuck about Jordan Love? You think are you are you worried? Are you worried about you?

SPEAKER_01

You're giving about your shortcomings, not fucking fuck about Jordan Love if uh his coach wasn't an idiot. I think Matt LaFleur's a big dum-dum. And if Jordan Love had a good coach, maybe he's halfway decent, but LaFleur's a complete jackass.

SPEAKER_02

I'm definitely worried about Green Bay shrinking the field and then Josh Jacobs doing some crazy shit.

SPEAKER_00

That's always Green Bay doesn't shrink the field. He hasn't even looked that good since he came back. The only thing every time you hear about Josh Jacobs is because he did another terrible thing off the football field.

SPEAKER_01

Well he'll he also did a terrible uh celebration where he put his hands behind his back. So he did a terrible thing on the field, too. That was in poor tape. Like dude, that guy is fucked.

SPEAKER_00

A piece of shit. Moron. Big dumb dumb. He's a dumb, big, dumb, dumb. And so is the coach. So we're starting to see a pattern here. I don't think you guys are scared of the Packers at all. I think you're just trying to be hard on the Pats. Oh, absolutely. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not I don't look at the phone.

SPEAKER_00

This is a Pats-based opinion. This is it has nothing to do with your opponent. Not really.

SPEAKER_01

Correct. Yeah. I I don't look at the Packers as this like big dominant foe, like, oh man, big game. I think Vrabel said it in the postgame in the locker room, like, oh, big big game next week, big game, kind of hyping up the Packers, which like when you hear a coach do that, they're kind of doing that. So like they play, they step up, but they know that their opponent's dog shit. So I'm I'm sure Vrabel looks at the Packers as a joke, but I so you win the coaching battle, right?

SPEAKER_00

If we just do all the headshots, absolutely. Yep. You're you're way ahead on coaching. I think that's your your number one thing, right? Your offensive coordinator is probably. I mean, if Matt LaFleur has any quality, he's like this offensive guru or whatever. I think that word is thrown around a little bit too much. I think every coach is an offensive coach now, basically. Like the defensive coaches are all over 50. Um, the uh it's just the way it is. That's fine. Um, but you went to the coaching battle, uh, Rabel, especially. Your defense is better than their offense. I would say it's just their linebackers are better than ours. I'm saying your defense is better than their offense. Like headline.

SPEAKER_02

If we get one more quarterback, if we get one more quarterback back from uh from the injury list, fine.

SPEAKER_00

I agree. And you just need to try and hold the ball and put points on the board as much as possible.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we win this game by holding the ball.

SPEAKER_00

You're not gonna be doing maybe explosive plays because again, I mean, I think I I think you guys underrate Trevion Henderson's impact a lot too. I really was like glad he was not in the game. Uh, you know, uh when when you guys were playing us or at 100%. And it's like you you have explosive players, they're not on the field or they're not playing at 100%. So I think there's a world where you can sort of slog it out, but also there's a world where here's the thing about the Packers, and I'll tell you this: it's it's true. I witnessed it because they're not a completely different team than they were last season. They are mentally weak. They are a mentally, mentally weak team. And yeah, they got fired up. There was a shitload of bullets and board material against the Bears, and they fucked us up in Lambeau, but uh they always fuck us up in Lambo. They fuck everybody up in Lambeau. That's it's a it's probably the second or third best home uh field advantage in in football, right? And it also has a vibe to it, it has a thing for the team, like it really just helps when they're there. They have to come into New England. What time's the game? Is it the early games? 4 25. 4 5. Oh, it's the afternoon game, so it has potential degrees.

SPEAKER_01

They're uh yeah, they're they're celebrating the 2016 team. Brady's calling his first game.

SPEAKER_00

Brady's calling his first Pats game because it's on Fox because you're playing the Packers. Holy shit! Yep, you guys are gonna fucking wax them, dude. This is great. I can't fucking wait. This is gonna be so much fun. And it's the later game, so I can have it just fully dedicated on the TV. This is awesome. I love it. Uh, it's gonna lead us right into to Sunday night football and the Bears because we only play in prime time. Uh apparently. It's ridiculous. Well deserved.

SPEAKER_02

Just uh let me know what's going on in the Discord chat because I'm gonna be in India watching it. So are you really?

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

That's cool, man.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's not. What wait, what time's the game kicking off in India?

SPEAKER_00

How's that? Oh, they don't they don't do time, they don't do time there.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, you just said you're gonna be looking watching the game in India, so I would assume I won't be watching it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm gonna be watching you guys talk about it on the Discord. What you can't watch it?

SPEAKER_00

I I assume not. I'm sure they have a they have a fucking TV somewhere. I don't think so. Everything I've heard about people going to India is that you get like butlers.

SPEAKER_02

I don't I don't think so. Alright. I'm pretty sure it's if I maybe if I can get like antennas, I can hear you guys. I don't know. Alright, all right.

SPEAKER_01

So right now it's what 8, 12 a.m. tomorrow there. So you're looking at an 11-hour difference. So uh yeah, 5 a.m. Yeah, no, no, that that would be um three uh three thirty a.m. God damn it. Yeah, wake me up.

SPEAKER_00

All right. Well, it's interesting. I didn't think you guys are gonna be so sort of down on them after a win, but I I I guess it makes sense. You want to fuck them up a little bit more. You're you're hoist by your own standard petard. Um I will say though, I'm gonna slur, by the way.

SPEAKER_01

Looking uh look looking at the ring, even though I'm I am down on the Pats, Matt, I I'm curious your thoughts on having the Bengals right above them. I said the Bengals were frauds, but then Joe Burrow puts up what six total touchdowns.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they kind of had the same type of win as you guys did, right? Where it was like it looked a little sketchy there for a second against a really shitty team, and then they just like figured it out.

SPEAKER_02

He had a lot of turnovers, but he threw a lot of balls. He had a lot of, you know, I I love Joe Burrow. I just love him.

SPEAKER_00

I don't trust the Bengals at all. I don't trust them at all. They're never gonna get another dollar of mine for the rest of the season.

SPEAKER_02

Guys, he made me so much money in college, like so much. So I I'm not I'm just never gonna let him go. In college? When you were in college, he was in elementary school.

SPEAKER_00

But when he was in college and I was uh out of college, yeah. How much money could he possibly have made you? Wasn't he the fucking favorite in like every game you ever walked into?

SPEAKER_02

When he when he won the national championship, I won like thirteen hundred dollars that night. Like I'm he's my guy. I got his back.

SPEAKER_00

I like Joe Burrow too. Don't get me wrong. I I thought he was gonna be the guy to slay uh Mahomes when he first got that win, finally got that win against him, but it turned out it was it was time and business decisions. Those are the two things that uh that caught up to Pat Mahomes. Not to say he's not gonna get another one, but I don't think he I don't think he's gonna get another one. Um so yes, to say that. Uh yeah, we've talked about everything. We did it. We power ranked, we did a little mini MTP Boston. Um, I really think you guys are gonna wax the fucking Packers. And if you don't, I'm gonna be very cross with you. I'm gonna be very upset. Speaking of crossing, I have a couple of quick uh silenced uh nine millimeters to

Crossing Off More Teams Fast

SPEAKER_00

just give at the end. And I didn't want to actually talk about these teams, but we're gonna cross off a couple more teams. Ready? Colts out behind the woodshed. Goodbye.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. Yeah. Do the Colts gotta get off quick. Are the Colts like the whole fire sale thing? Like, I think that's kind of fucking wild. And uh their head coach definitely does not deserve that. That is fucking it's it's crazy they've just given up on the season. It's wild.

SPEAKER_00

It's a weird, it's a weird place to be. Maybe we'll dive into what the hell happened over there next week. Maybe I'll do a little research. But uh, yeah, the whole Ursay Gordon on the sidelines thing was a story, but that didn't really mean anything, I don't think. I think it was just about how they like very quickly imploded. Um, they're gone for this season at the very least. We'll see. Um, I guess the most interesting thing about them is where is Jonathan Taylor gonna end up? And if it's in Indianapolis still, that's mean. That's mean. You guys are mean. Um, the Jets. Bye. Bye the Jets. Bye bye.

SPEAKER_01

I thought we crossed them off like preseason weekend.

SPEAKER_02

I thought they were. Yeah, I thought they were crossed off or something.

SPEAKER_00

They weren't, they weren't, they weren't. Um, you guys were too nervous because it was like interdivisional stuff, but uh no, they're gone. Texans? See ya. Oh they look soft. They look soft.

SPEAKER_01

I think they give it a tickets are for that game between them and the uh they give you $40.

SPEAKER_00

They can't give them away.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, the uh the cheapest ticket's $15. So if you want to go, if you want to go like see the Justin Herbert in person suck ass against the Texans.

SPEAKER_00

I might be interested in seeing that.

SPEAKER_01

Like honestly, just to see it in person and see what $15 for an NFL game is fucking insane.

SPEAKER_00

In LA in LA, it's in Los Angeles in LA. Dude, nothing costs $15 here. The cheapest hand job is more than $15 in Los Angeles.

SPEAKER_02

Me and Dave, me and Dave actually paid more to see the Charlotte Bobcats play Sacramento in Charlotte.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so that's true. In like 2012, it was like 19 bucks. We were like, that's probably great.

SPEAKER_01

There's probably beers or alcoholic drinks at the stadium that cost more than a ticket to get in.

SPEAKER_00

That was what we spent our money on, yeah. Yeah, we left early.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but yeah, uh uh kill the Texans.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they can go. I'm gonna leave the Saints alone just because of that division. I have no idea what's happening there. They're gonna just they have to stay because it's there's I don't know. It's I can't even, I don't even know. Don't do it. It's very strange. So I would like to cross off a lot of teams in that division, but we can't. Um, I hope the Bucks lose next because they're playing the Bears and we already crossed them off, so I don't want to get worried. Yes, I don't want a zombie buccaneer situation on my hands. That'd be like the first pirates to the Caribbean movie, and I just I it's my favorite one, but it would be scary.

Final Thoughts And Sign Off

SPEAKER_00

So for myself, DK Sizzle, for Zach, for Matt, and for the entire Missing the Point family. Thank you for listening to the Power Making Show with a side of MTP Boston. I think I'm the highest on the podcast right now because I've been hitting my weed vape, and I'm also the highest on the Patriots. So here we are. Here we were. Bye.
