The Weirdest Week Yet: Week 3 Power Rankings

The Weirdest Week Yet: Week 3 Power Rankings

Week 3 of the NFL season is when the “sure things” start looking shaky, the weird teams start stacking wins, and every fan base convinces itself the truth is hiding just one Sunday away. We sit down and run our latest NFL power rankings with zero mercy, starting at the bottom where some teams already feel cooked, then working upward through the messy middle where everything is still up for grabs.

We cross off the Dolphins, debate whether the Patriots deserve an absolutely brutal drop, and ask the uncomfortable quarterback questions that show up when the offense looks lost. From there we hit the teams living in the 20s: the injury excuses, the stalled schemes, and the squads that feel dangerous even when their record says otherwise. We also carve out a “frisky but flawed” tier and force ourselves to pick who can actually sustain a winning season once the league adjusts.

Then we get to the real fun: Cowboys respect despite late-game nonsense, the Raiders getting a proper lie detector test against the Chiefs, and a full argument about the Vikings. Are they a true contender powered by the best defense in the league, or a fragile team one offensive slip away from falling back to earth? We finish at the top with the Chiefs, Bills, and 49ers, plus a defense of Brock Purdy that’s really about what “system quarterback” even means when the tape keeps saying “good.”

If you like NFL analysis that’s honest about uncertainty but ruthless about what’s on film, hit subscribe, share this with a friend who thinks your team is overrated, and leave us a review with your current top three.

Week 3 Ranking Ground Rules

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh, it's missing the point. We're power ranking again. Week three has come. Week three has gone. It came, it saw, it conquered. Many backups succeeded. Many starters, potential MVP runners up, failed. It's been a weird week in the NFL. Like, honestly, most weeks. It's a very difficult league to predict. There's a lot of great athletes out on the field every day. And it's hard to really know. But we're going to take a crack at it anyway. Matt, I'm joined, of course, by Matt Wilcox, Marty McFly himself. I uh I listened to your MTP Boston show with Mike. Um, so I won't spend too, too much time on the on the Pats. If anybody wants a more extended Patriots discussion, please head over on over to the same feed. Listen to Matt and Mike do uh MTP Boston and sort of lament their their the Patriots struggles

Dolphins Get Crossed Off

SPEAKER_01

this week, but we will talk about them. Last week we only crossed off one team and it was the Miami Dolphins. They did nothing to dissuade me from that being a good idea. Um they've lost uh just a quick a quick rundown of them before we never speak of them again. Um they've lost by 14 to Vegas, 22 to San Francisco, 14 to Kansas City. They've scored 13, 13, and 10 in that respective horrible run. So this isn't unlucky. This is they're terrible. They're they're bad. Um 32 and crossed off, defensible. I'm not gonna make you defend it. I mean, we cross teams off together anyway, so it is what it is. Um they're gonna play the Vikings, a 3-0 team. I might press you on uh a little bit later based on where they are in the rankings, just a little big, big city tease right there, but big market tease, I should say. Um but anyway, if we're moving on from the Dolphins. Kind of crazy. The biggest swing so far since the pre pre-week uh preseason power rankings show. Number 31 with a bullet. The New England Patriots at one and two.

Patriots Spiral And Bills Preview

SPEAKER_01

There's teams with worse records sitting above them. So, Matt, I guess my first question to you is on this one is did you just do this because you're mad at them?

SPEAKER_00

I sure did, Dave. I'm very mad at them. Uh, I hate them. There's rumors about coaches stealing play calls away from coordinators. There's quarterbacks that look like they don't know what they're doing out there. There's wide receivers that are not running their routes. There's cornerbacks that are not making coverages. There's uh multiple penalties happening on each play. The offensive line looks like Swiss cheese. The pass rush is non-existent. I hate them. They ruined my day. Uh they've ruined my entire month, really, if I'm gonna be honest with you. And I don't really want to talk about that much. I hate them. They deserve to be where they are. I'm ready to cross them off if you are.

SPEAKER_01

We're not gonna cross off the Super Bowl contenders from second place finished for last year. That's crazy talk. Um it's it's brutally low for a team with a win, considering that the next few teams above them are all 0-3. Losing by 29. I mean, the Jaguars did put their balls on your head, I will admit that. Um, but we all had the Jags being pretty decent this year. Uh like Mike said something interesting on MTP Boston. Like, after your your win, after week two, I and it sounded like you guys thought, okay, great. Like we actually have we actually have some some semblance of the team that was here last year, and and maybe we can actually do something. Yes, it does seem like your offense was heavily built around AJ Brown, um, to a point where losing him right away is is seems to have crippled all the plans, but it's a bit of bad luck. You got the Bills up next. That being said, that's a divisional game, which is the ultimate equalizer. I mean, if you're if you're two and two going into next week, and uh obviously you'll have to be a real trick-or-treat team to to come up against the Bills, and and you're in Buffalo too. So it's I mean, it's a good time of year to be in Buffalo, but it's not a great time ever to play the Buffalo Bills. You're gonna have to do it twice this year. Your biggest division rival, how do you see that game going? And then I'll I'll put you out of your misery.

SPEAKER_00

So me and Mike both agreed that this is the exact type of game coming off of a horrible, horrible loss that you see the Patriots uh make the other team play their style of play. I could see them actually winning this game. Me and Mike both agreed either it's gonna be a blowout from Buffalo or we're gonna win a really tight close one because Buffalo's not gonna be able to get out of their own way. Um they love breaking my heart, and what would break my heart the most is if they won this game and then went back and uh repeated what they were doing already this season. So I could totally see them winning this game.

SPEAKER_01

Trivion Henderson's expected to play, which I think is a big has a big a big a big part of your woes so far as your is your running game. I think they establishing the run, a little bit of I and I heard some talk about this on MTB Boston, establishing the run and maybe just some easy drive starting throws for May to get him back in rhythm would go a long way. That being said, I did just want to say the whole shoulder thing, having a sore shoulder doesn't make you fucking drop the ball next to your head. You know, I mean there was uh having a sore shoulder doesn't make you not see a guy in in the cover two like standing still right in front of you. I it's he like him and Andy Dalton both threw an equally bad interception this this game week. So it's just like you can't, it's bad. So it you're good, you're just uh basically about to find out exactly who you have at QB because if he is able to bring himself out of this and even play back to 75% of the form that he achieved last year, then you've got an actual mental, mentally tough guy. Um, that being said, there was some poetic justice to everybody ragging on Caleb for days about crying for being hurt, and then Drake may cry because he didn't win a football game. I, you know, I'm not saying you, although, you know, you were a little bit on Mike's side. And I just have to say, like, I just have to say, like, it was it was it was ironical. It was uh it didn't not feel good. Um if it was anybody else, Matt, I I would be calling this dude a bust. Like I I'm I'm not trying to say it once it's a hundred percent perfectly sure. We host a podcast. I'm trying to get ahead of the the news cycle here a little bit, you know. I'm trying to keep the takes hot. And unfortunately, if it was anybody else with the schedule last year, with how many games in a row in the playoffs he played badly and what he's looked like so far this year, uh if it was anyone else, I would say it's really not looking good. It's just because it's a Patriots QB that it scares me a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

You know, it's so okay. First of all, I want to apologize because I did uh make a comment about Drake May, or I'm sorry, about Caleb Williams, where I questioned whether his uh scan for cervical cancer was uh positive or not. Um that's not nice. Um here here's my thing. I said this on the other podcast that we did. I can't write the kid off because he was in the Super Bowl last year and he lost our hands over the hangover can be detrimental. Here's the thing though if this uh track continues and this type of uh uh boneheaded I don't know what I'm doing play is the standard, he's gonna turn into that guy regardless. So what's the difference? Uh if it's if you don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean you have to go with him. It's it's there's no you don't have a choice. Like he is you made him your franchise QB already, essentially. So I mean the the it but if it comes down to him and Vabel with what Vrabel did in the offseason and everything like coming out, like you know, and if it if you know if the rumors are to be believed, the that there's some sort of problem brewing between Vrabel and May, although that seems like a pretty easy clickbait type article to write. I don't know. I guess we'll see. It's not it's not for me to start deciding on young quarterbacks too soon, but we're in the kind of phase of play with these guys with this draft class where this year the standard of criticism is gonna go up, especially with the performances that both both our guys put in uh at times over the course of the of last season. So it is time to start absorbing real criticism and just being like, give him a it, give him a give him a beat, is that window is sort of closed. But anyway, I'll be watching them closely.

SPEAKER_00

It's really never good when your head coach goes on talk shows and starts quoting biblical references to David and Goliath uh after he cheated on his wife with a reporter who admittedly would, but yeah, we're not in a good place.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I'm sorry. Well, keep an eye on them. I I can't I can't uh agree to a cross-off. It's it's it's not happening. Not with the team that was in the Super Bowl last year. It's just they can just they can by me acknowledging that, you know that I still think there's a chance that this season and this quarterbacks play turnaround. That's right.

SPEAKER_00

Remember this, remember this conversation week 12.

SPEAKER_01

I don't have to remember it. It's we're saying it into a microphone, it's being recorded in perpetuity. The the the to the technology remembers everything for me now. I don't remember anything for myself. It's great.

Titans Officially Do Not Matter

SPEAKER_01

The Tennessee Titans. I'm gonna I'm gonna bury the lead here. Uh, we're crossing these fucking guys off. They're they look they look ass. I mean, I you said uh you said there was science and that there was a chance that they could cover the spread against the Ravens. I I was that was one moment where I disagreed with you. I was I was taking that 11-point spread or whatever it was in Baltimore. I I mean that they look bad against the Jets. They look bad against Philly, who that seems like a pretty good early season uh low ranking for you. That was you kind of got ahead of it there. Um Cam Ward and this offense, I don't know, man. I it's that they just they look like Mr. Irrelevant to me. They look like a team that is just not gonna matter or affect anything that truly means anything or causes any real ripple effects across the league this year. I like it. I'm saying that I don't even really see them with any kind of upset game to affect playoff standings against against a genuine playoff team. The way that they're playing, they can't lock into anything that they've had. I agree that they've had moments and they have some personnel that I recognize, but I mean, and I don't think they're gonna go, you know, 0-17, maybe, but they could they can go. I I think we're gonna go ahead and cross these guys off if you're cool with it, you know.

SPEAKER_00

So I I watched, I I tried to re-watch highlights from the game. Here's here's the real problem that they have. Cam Ward, even when he does get time in the pocket, makes horrible throws. Like there's no you you he can't capitalize when he can capitalize. It's a real problem that they have. The whole team is garbage.

SPEAKER_01

It's a tough situation to bring a young QB into, I feel like. I I I don't know. I don't know where they go from here. I don't have the the answers. If we redid that game where everybody took over a franchise, I might swap out the Cardinals with the uh with the Titans because uh we haven't actually published that game yet, but it was a lot of fun. Uh when we're all busy, I'll I'll drop it one week for some content hole filling. But I mean, uh the Tennessee Titans is a franchise, like they haven't been relevant since Eddie George and Steven Nair, you know. Not really, not in any sort of intense playoff capacity. I mean, your coach got some life out of them, but they're they were such a poverty franchise that it's just like I don't I don't, you know, like that's the best they could do, and this is a proven coach, so I I don't know. I'm gonna go ahead and cross them off. Cross them.

The Troubled Teams In The 20s

SPEAKER_01

Tampa Bay Buccaneers are next on the list, which it seems unfair. These next two teams seem these next three teams seem like a low. I'm gonna be honest. Like, I get I guess I get I get the Buccaneers the most out of these next three teams. The next three teams are 29 Tampa, 28 LA Chargers, 27 Arizona Cardinals. I understand the Tampa Buccaneers the most because we don't know what's up with Baker's thumb. Oh, they announced it three weeks. Oh, well, that's better than I thought. And he had a pretty big reaction. I'm just confused as to how he can have that pretty big reaction, and Drake May can have that pretty big reaction. And I saw a couple linemen go down that have a pretty big reaction and they get week-to-week diagnosis, but they have a weird different thing about Caleb Williams. I don't know what it is. I'm just gonna be tracking it as he fucking comes back and fucks everybody up. But anyway, it doesn't matter. This isn't about that yet. We have got a long way to go until we talk about Chicago. Um Tampa Bay is the one I guess I agree with the most. That dislocated thumb. They were semi-competitive in the in the in the six-point loss to Cincinnati, but I don't really know what to make of them yet either. The four-point loss to Cleveland, again, I don't really know what to make of them yet because they're looking better than I ever thought possible. Um, I didn't know they were the holy shit, they might actually be good team this year. That's really shocking to me. But we're all shocked. The outlook is worse. I'm okay with 29 here, but I can't cross them off yet. I I that I had them too high going in. I think you feel the same way about the Texans. So it's you know the Chargers. I know that offense isn't clicking. I know that two of those three losses are on paper bad losses. Lose everyone's gonna lose to the Bills this year, so at least once. So it is what it is. But yes, their best performance on the road against the Bills, though. You know what I mean? Like they they actually looked like they had some sign of life against the best team that they played. I don't think I can fully I and again, it might be a biased thing because I really was a lot higher on them coming into the season. I am a Herbert fan. I wanted him to be good. I thought Harbaugh was gonna get the most out of him, but I guess being not being in a stadium where there's a hundred thousand fans that really, really, really want you to succeed and are really, really diehard about the program that you've built, it's a different situation uh for this Harbaugh, I think, that we've seen that it was succeed in in other situations. So I'm again not ready to cross them off, but I gotta I gotta I gotta I gotta my eye on them. This is it's tough.

SPEAKER_00

I would not cross them off for anything right now, but they deserve to be where they are in the rankings. This is atrocious.

SPEAKER_01

I'll I'll tell, I mean, I think they deserve the the embarrassment of being this low on our podcast rankings, and I know they're gonna hear about this, and I know they're gonna be very upset. Okay, so hopefully this lights a fire under them, but I do have a bone to pick with the next three because 27 is the Cardinals, 26 is the Packers, 25 is the Texans. Yes, all three of these team seasons are starting to smell a little funky. Um, I will agree with that. I think the Arizona Cardinals have actually looked better than those other two teams, though. I gotta say, I think 27 is low for them. I mean, to you, spoiler alert, you have the number one team as the San Francisco 49ers. They only lost to them by six points. They gave them a good run for their money in a in a comeback sense, too. They look like they have something about them a little bit. Honest to God. I I don't know. I think they might be a nobody, they're not gonna be a great record team, but nobody's gonna want to play them all year, which makes me think I'd I'd like to play Green Bay or Houston tomorrow. So I don't know if I'd want to play the Cardinals tomorrow with it with my third string QB, although he looks like fucking Joe Montana. Um I I don't know. I don't know. I I I would say my only quibble with you here is I would probably put the the Packers at 27. I'd probably put the Texans at 26, and I'd probably put the Cardinals at 25.

SPEAKER_00

But, you know, yeah, I mean I was just yeah, go ahead. Well, I went back and I was looking at highlight plays, they gave up the craziest, craziest big plays to San Francisco when San Francisco was clearly having like a flu day. They didn't look like themselves at all. But every play they gave up was some wild fuck up that made me sick to my stomach. So because of that, I decided the Pioneers. But I agree with you. That team has a lot of upside, and their schedule gets really easy moving forward. So I'm interested to see what they do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm not surprised that they're in the 20s, but and you know, they could become anemic overnight. Like it could be all of a sudden they've that they've only won five games, you know, and it they could be a five to 12 team still. Uh it depends. But I'm not gonna run through their whole schedule because it's just gonna delight me too much to move on and talk about the Green Bay Packers at 26. Losing to Minnesota by 17, looking increasingly less bad as the weeks go on, but losing to Atlanta by 21 points, like 35 to 14, and it was a shellacing. I watched the whole thing, like they fully just let the game get away from them and they got fucking stomped. They gave Atlanta what I would call like if you're cheering actively against the Atlanta Falcons, if you're in the NFC South and you really don't want them to succeed, you are so angry at the Green Bay Packers for giving them the exact platform they needed to get their skill guys going this season and and in that game. I mean, there was a there was a potential to to uh have a full wheels coming off our season, Atlanta Falcons season. We're a typical NFC South team. We're weird as fuck. We've got players that you all have on your fantasy teams, but we cannot win a game. Like and it goes one after the other after the other. And Green Bay was like, no, no, no, no, don't worry. Don't worry. We completely don't need to block B. John Robinson for for any any reason. Like, he can just do whatever he wants. It's totally fine. Um, Penix, your boy, came out a little shaky on the first drive and then started looking like a proper quarterback. Uh, I mean, I do have a theory that the Green Bay Packers fucking suck. I tried to tell you in the preseason power rankings that they were a mentally weak team that I just watched my Bears come back huge against twice in a row, once in the playoffs. I'm smashing first coach fired as Matt LaFleur. I'm smashing it. I I'm I'm betting it uh every day. I'm putting another 10 bucks on it every day. I I I can't even begin to tell you how delightful this is for me. 26 is generous, if you ask me. If my if it were my power ranking, it'd be different.

SPEAKER_00

Let me just say, it is really hard to punish a team when half of their salary, half of their player's salary is on the sidelines. They don't have Josh Jacobs.

SPEAKER_01

That's what happens, that's what happens when you put half your salary into two players. Like, I'm I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_00

You're right, but those guys are coming back. Michael Carson and Josh Jacobs are gonna be back at some point. So I I agree with you. It's embarrassing. This is fucking embarrassing. But they can't run the ball and they can't stop quarterbacks from taking time in the pocket. Well, guess what? They got two Avengers coming back to the to the team here.

SPEAKER_01

So Yeah. Sure, but one of them's Hawkeye, you know? Like, I I mean, it's it's fine. He's good, and and it, you know, it begs the question why you have a bow and arrow in a world containing machine guns, but fine, whatever. Which one's Hawkeye? Uh Josh Jacobs. I mean, he's he's a superhero. He's a superhero, but he's not. I mean, he's it's not it's not as if we're waiting for Adrian Peterson to come back. You know what I mean? He's a good running back. Uh, but you know, I those two things are not equal. Um, those two impending returns are not equal, equal impacts on both sides of the ball, in my opinion. Um, you need to have you need to be able to have your running back go down and still be able to win football games.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I really hope Josh Jacobs, I really hope Josh doesn't hear this. Josh, I I don't co-sign that you're Hawkeye. I'd at least give you fucking Black Widow. Damn.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, you're Hawkeye for sure. Uh, I don't I think alliterative names are silly. Because you know their parents did that shit on purpose, and it's like, why don't you just let them become special on their own? Like, try to stop trying to get ahead of the curve. I think that they're in a similar boat to Houston. I think these are two teams that came in with high expectations that are really not living up to that. Um 25 might be generous, like I said, for Houston. They hung with Buffalo in week one, but like week one is an extended preseason. Um, six points against Cincinnati and 17 against Indy. It's not great. Uh 0-3 in the AFC is already a nasty, nasty hole. And this offense just simply has not been good enough. I almost am starting to feel bad that like because um CJ Stroud tried to kind of big brother and like aura punk Caleb Williams, and because he's God's chosen son, he hasn't been able to play good football since that moment. And I almost think I almost think the Pope is being a little cruel with this one at this point. I think he should maybe take his foot off the gas a little bit because I really do miss watching the CJ Stroud of his first two seasons-ish. And he's just really not that guy anymore. I I don't know. Can you explain their season to me? I'm confused by it.

SPEAKER_00

So if you want to blame Stroud for trying to pick a fight with Caleb Williams, it's as simple as ball don't lie. You're wrong. He's better than you, he's better than you in every aspect of the game. So you fucked up by stepping up to the wrong guy. But me and you both know this because we're defense guys, we can't quit them. And I'm not gonna quit them.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna quit them. No, their defense, they're dealing. I thought their defense was gonna be the most fun thing I was gonna watch all year this year. Uh honest to God. The Bears offense and the and the Texans defense are the two things I was really hoping to watch um like week in, week out, TV rankings-wise.

SPEAKER_00

So 50-50 is not bad.

SPEAKER_01

Fair enough.

Frisky Middle Tier Picks

SPEAKER_01

All right, let's uh let's steam through some of these also rans here in the middle because I I honestly think they're all the same team. Um, the Panthers, the Colts, the Falcons, the Jets, the Commanders, and the Giants. I'm gonna call tier three frisky flawed, but still alive. I I think they're all the same team. Like I they're all teams I can't quite put my finger on, so I don't really want to stamp my flag into the ground of where I think any of these teams are, but I would love to hear from you if there's, let's see, Panthers, Colts, Falcons, Jets, Commanders, Giants. I want you to pick three teams of these six that you think are gonna go on to have the seasons that they might potentially have, they're the winning seasons, the seasons that actually see them be genuinely frisky for the rest of the year, and then put three in the category of like, we saw some good moments, but I'm sorry they just don't have enough. Fuck.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, fine. So I'm gonna Okay, okay. I'll Commanders Falcons because they have a ton of talent on the roster.

SPEAKER_01

Uh and then pick the Jets or the Giants.

SPEAKER_00

It's really hard to pick either one of those teams. I don't like JJ McCarthy. I think that they just invited more issues than if they just rode with a with a bridge player. Uh I'll go Colts because I love James. Yeah. He's a lot of 40 touchdowns and 40 interceptions of the season? Yeah, I love that dude. He's ready to huck it and chuck it, baby.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then uh again, it's it's another weird thing where it's what are the Texans? Like what we we're in such a weird period where it's like, well, how much does that win actually count? Like, w is that a really is that as good of a win as we thought it would be if you got it before the season started, or is it everybody's gonna beat up on the Texans this year where they just can't figure it out? I don't know. Right. So You know, there there is somewhere to go. I would broadly agree with that. I do think the Giants with obviously the debilitating Jackson Dart injury and like just so upsetting for them, obviously. Like, I I don't agree with the guy's politics, but I don't want to see him hurt, especially with a knee a knee that didn't that didn't look good. Um, I know he's out for the season. I I just hope he recovers and gets back to being 100%. But I mean, Jameis is gonna end up being Jameis. Jameis is gonna throw five touchdowns and five picks in the same game at some point. You know, Jameis is gonna say some weird shit on the sidelines, whether he wins or loses. Jameis is Jameis, but that this team is weird. Like this team is already weird.

SPEAKER_00

It's like so you look at the Giants, you see, oh yeah, no, that's a team that beat Dallas 28-20. And they went toe to toe with Baltimore for literally 60 minutes of a game.

SPEAKER_01

You start doing the math until you can't anymore. Like week six or week seven, you start being like, I don't fucking know. I I they suck, they're not, you know, like we we don't know enough yet.

SPEAKER_00

Well, week four, they're already a different team than the team that beat Dallas.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um, Brian Burns also towards ACL, so like the ceiling of their defense is low. I mean, it just makes it so that it's really hard to pick them as one of those three teams. The Jets, I mean, I've always kind of liked the way he can build defenses, and I've and I think it's cool to watch some of the peak defenses that Saw has built, but like again, as a head coach, I don't know. Um, commanders, we'll see about them. Uh, I I want to see what uh Rondo Elbow does when he comes back, if he can actually be consistent. He didn't get called a pussy for coming back from uh coming back late from an injury that everybody else uh seems to come back from pretty quickly.

SPEAKER_00

He didn't cry.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think there's anything wrong with crying, Matt.

SPEAKER_00

I agree with you.

SPEAKER_01

Let it out.

SPEAKER_00

I agree with you, but I recognize that I'm gonna get some shit if I do it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. Don't cry at school. I I I have always said it. Don't cry at school. You gotta do that shit in your car, bro. Caleb, uh, that goes for you too, buddy. Now that a couple weeks have passed, I vehemently defended you, but like don't fucking cry anymore. I it is just so stupid to say that a football player is not tough, though. Like any football player not being tough is just like such a dumb fight. It's like a prerequisite of all the positions. Like, I know the quarterback and kicker are like less, you know, uh uh sort of deified for the for toughness, but like Caleb was the most sacked quarterback here, his his rookie year by ever. So and he popped back up every time. So it's just like silly to me.

SPEAKER_00

I said it last week and I'll say it again. If any of you talking heads had to say it to Caleb's face, face to face, he would fucking molywop you. He would beat you like a red-head.

SPEAKER_01

If you forced him to fight, maybe. Um, the next few also weird. I I mean the Pittsburgh.

SPEAKER_00

I will cross off the Steelers right now.

SPEAKER_01

I bet you would. Beating the Bengals again. I can't stress this enough. Divisional games are the ultimate equalizer. You can go and have a weird game against someone in your division whenever you play them too often. You play them, you play them multiple times, guaranteed every year. You might see them in the playoffs. You you get a sense of them over that extra game at least per year. And I don't think that that win, and I'm sorry, Leah, but I'm I don't think that that win really says much because what you got was a pretty good, not a great, not a not a all-time Aaron Rodgers performance. What you got was a pretty good, pretty good, better than I thought performance from Aaron Rodgers in September. And I don't know if you know this, but there's only ever been one guy that's been able to play in December in his 40s and look pretty fucking good. Um, even even that good. So I'm not seeing this lasting. Yeah, Tom Brady. I'm not seeing this lasting. I'm not seeing um the Pittsburgh offense as being sustainable, even despite the fact that they've pivoted to an offensive coach. That being said, give him some time, give him some room to work. Um the their defense always starts off really good. Their defense uh every year starts off really good, and then they start to get injured here and there. They're they're really reliant on Watt. Uh, they have great players across the whole defense, but like losing JJ Watt's always gonna suck. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

I will I let me just attack the Steelers on this one point. It's kind of like them beating the Bengals when the Bengals are so high on everyone's countdown and count list. It's like sleeping with your ex-girlfriend. It could have been decades. You guys could be different people. You still know it works. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I guess what you mean. It's true. Philadelphia. I'm not gonna talk about the Bears yet, so we'll talk about Philadelphia in the context of the Chicago Bears when we get all the way up there. The New Orleans Saints, I I mean this is kind of nuts. 16 is kind of nuts for a one-and-two team, but they did beat the Ravens, which gives them kind of credibility. I would call them not hopeless, but messy. Um, they almost beat Detroit, then obviously one in Baltimore, like I said, and then they turned the ball over four times and blew a fourth quarter lead to Las Vegas. So in if it was me, they'd be a little lower in that I don't know what to make of them yet, team uh area, but I think you probably bumped them up a few points because they're fun.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're fun, but they look incompetent. But they look like they're stumbling into the box. It's fun, it's a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um, that's I almost can't blame you for putting the I mean it's bullish to have the Cleveland Browns at 15. It's bullish. Jacksonville fucked them up, but they also fucked up the Patriots, and that they look pretty legit. But Cleveland has quietly answered. They've got wins over Tampa and Carolina. Again, what that means remains to be seen, but it was a fully healthy Baker in in that game. Both wins were close. Um, they did come against teams we don't we don't, according to your rankings, don't currently think are very good. So I'm not sure what what pumps them all the way up to 15. I don't think Deshaun can sustain this. They would be lower for me. But if you want to make a case, uh by all means.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, they're winning it. So me and you have both agreed that uh Tampa and and um Tampa and Carolina both have uh some muster to them, right? So why are we uh discrediting the team that put them uh lower on the rankings? The Browns have looked competent, right? They look like they're executing their game plan. And even if they lose, they lose to Jacksonville, fine. Uh an experienced quarterback that's clearly got some some skills to him, they are putting teams away that we have given some sort of uh flower to. Because of that, I put them up on the rankings, right? They're two and one.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I mean, watch the space. Yeah, watch the space with a lot of these teams. Like it's it's why I'm sort of flying through this middle tier because I I need to see more from all the teams we're talking about. Like, there's teams at the bottom that I knew were terrible, the teams at the top I knew were good, but the this this middle area, it's like this all has to shake itself out. You know, this has to revert to the mean. So fair enough. Watch this space. The

Cowboys Respect And Raiders Reality Check

SPEAKER_01

Raiders are 3-0. Um, the Cowboys are one and two, and they're right next to each other in the rankings. If it were me, I would still clock the the Cowboys as the better team. They push Baltimore all the way to the end of that game, looked like it was going to go to OT, and then some of the most heinous clock management I've ever seen to give Baltimore a chance to kick the game-winning field goal before it goes to OT. It's just not smart. I don't think you should overmanage the clock at the end of games because then you do silly things like the Patriots did, for instance, uh at the end of the first half in that game, and uh, and you start to kind of overthink it. Really let your offense be your offense, let your defense be your defense. But also you have to you have to be smarter about special teams. You know, like it the most embarrassing way to lose a game is is fucking up special teams plays. So Dallas, I mean, I probably would have had them hire if they didn't end the game like that, whether the whether the game ended in a win or a loss, if that's not how they they if that's how they ended it. I I think it's fair they're a 14. It feels reasonable. They're a one and two team, sure, but the eye test is considerably kinder than the record. What what do you make of this Cowboys team? And like, do you think they'll move up your power rankings, or do you think they're they're more of a bear candidate?

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, I think they're gonna move up. If those wide receivers, how they fought and played in that game against Baltimore are any indication, those guys are not his.

SPEAKER_01

Offense looks great. I mean, the offense really genuinely I think that they can. Yeah, they I mean, I and Dak is Dak is having a good year. Uh, I I think he's I think he's got the weapons, he's played with these guys. The receivers really are making crazy catches. He's putting it in the places where only they can catch it. They look like they're gonna be a lot of fun. They're really high on my TV uh watchability power rankings. Top four. And they're they're much higher than the Raiders in in that sense, because honestly, again, hi Raiders. It's crazy that you're here. I I didn't think we'd be having this conversation even after only three weeks, but they did beat Miami, which everyone's gonna do, so fine. They beat the Chargers, which we didn't expect at the time. I mean, we have to talk about what we expected at the time, even though we we sort of are seeing some other stuff develop. And they're New Orleans. Who are you know only a few places down from them in the power rankings here? So I I think 13 is cautious. I think it's probably more defensible than the next uh the next team on the power rankings because they look legitimately good. But Chiefs Raiders this weekend is the lie detector test. Let's see who the actual fraud is. Right, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Now they have their first real litmus test, if you look at their schedule, is you gotta go play patty.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's a real Chiefs team again. Um, we're really gonna see if they actually have anything. My gut tells me they're gonna get Mollywapped. Um, I don't think they're gonna win this game, but I don't think anybody does. I wouldn't even put cautious hedge money on them against the Chiefs, to be honest, but I don't like betting against the Chiefs when they're playing like this. I didn't even like betting against them when they weren't playing well, to be honest.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

They're playing on Sunday. Uh we'll we'll watch this space. I mean, a very common sentence on the power ranking show, because we're kind of talking about how good or not good these teams are, is we're gonna know a lot more after this week, right? So we'll say that a lot throughout the course of the season because we will. We'll know a lot more after this week.

Vikings Defense And Quarterback Doubts

SPEAKER_01

The Minnesota Vikings at 12. This is the one I disagree with you about the most. This is too low. I understand skepticism about their offenses, offense, capable, offensive capabilities, but you can't have a 3-0 team playing the best defense in the league. They're playing the best defense in the league. They're they're fully playing the best defense in the league. They uh I I think they're a first-tier team. I I this is we're in tier two, and I think they belong somewhere, even if it's at the bottom of of tier tier one, and I they're about to go, they beat the Buccaneers, sure. We don't know where they're gonna end up, all things being equal, but they're it's gonna look worse because they're about to go absolutely fuck the dolphins up. So they're gonna be four and oh after this week, and it's gonna start to look really low. I'm just putting that out there to you. You don't believe in them. Why?

SPEAKER_00

I'll explain it very simply. You're right, they're three and oh, and they've played two teams that we consider to be very good. They have played two divisional teams, either one of which could have come out and beat them, right? Because as we've already agreed, divisional teams are kind of a wild card, it's kind of a messy situation. They have no business beating the Bears, they're not better than the Bears. Their offense is great. They're uh sorry, their defense is great, their offense is at the very best unreliable. Look at their quarterback, right? It's a messy situation. All it takes was for Jefferson to have a misstep, and this team is gonna start plummeting like crazy. He has his option where he can just throw it downfield and know somebody's coming to get it. If that disappears, he's in trouble.

SPEAKER_01

They kind of remind me of the 06 Bears, to be honest. They like they have they have they have a really big offensive weapon, uh, but you kind of need to get them the ball in Jefferson. I mean, Jefferson Jefferson has some very, very different players, obviously, but um, and that offensive weapon is not their quarterback. In fact, their quarterback is a genuine liability. Um, and they have like a really aggressive early identity names, but also like holy shit, that guy's good too, uh, defensive roster. And I know that the 06 Bears were kind of like they kind of could do it all. I mean, it's one of the best defenses I've ever seen, but they they were hard-hitting, but they weren't like a full blitz team. They didn't play at the 46. You know, Erlacher was more of a coverage linebacker at that point in his career and very good at that, uh, had a pick six that season. But shut down the box, yeah, and then like Michael Vick could never run on him, which was always great. Like, he would he had just like he was the only guy that could ever shut him down, which was like always super cool to watch, and also play Madden against Michael Vick and just pick Brian Erlacher because his lateral speed was so good, you could just be like, Yeah, it's fine. I like I can definitely just QB spy every time. But in saying that, I mean, you're right, the QB situation is bad. I was not scared of them coming out on offense one time against the Bears, and I believed in my defense a lot less than I do now that week. So we'll see. We'll see how this goes. Again,

Lions Rams And AFC Contender Talk

SPEAKER_01

watch this space. Detroit Lions at 11. I'd say this feels about right. They're a good team, they have clear offensive weaponry. Um, they haven't looked dominant in the way that I've seen them look. They only beat the Jets by seven, remains to be seen, etc., etc. It was a shootout in Buffalo. Everyone seems to be kind of being able to give Buffalo a little bit of a run for their money, but Buffalo is just a team that's finding their way to win. So we'll see how that goes for them. But I I do agree that the Rams should be above them, even though the Rams are one and two.

SPEAKER_00

The Lions look like a team that two years ago lost their amazing offensive coordinator trying to figure it out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and their one-two punch in the running back uh situation, and and yeah, I I I have to agree. I hope their windows are not closed. I I think they're a really fun team to watch over the last few seasons. I think it's not it doesn't be become me to shit on Detroit, even though they're in my division. It's I'm sure I don't know who you who you would have uh what the equivalent would be in your division or if you just hate all three of them, but they're so bad that they are historically, like in my lifetime, have been so bad that I'm just sort of like I was kind of like more power to you. And when the Bears were were shitty, I was like, yeah, whatever. You know, like uh why begrudge them a good football team? Like they're the city's had a had a tough time. Nobody's gonna want to play the Lions. I mean, they're they're a hard team. I think they're a playoff team based on uh staying healthy and everything going well for them. 11 feels about right for what they've done. Let's see if they can break out though. I I would I would be more bullish than bearish on them. Um, I don't know how you feel.

SPEAKER_00

Agreed. I completely agree, but they feel like more of a wild card team watching the Bears right now.

SPEAKER_01

Fair, fair, fair, fair, fair, fair, fair, fair, fair. I'm I'm I mean, I hope they fall off, but I'm just talking. I'm just talking, you know, what I'm what I'm seeing. The Rams' record is ugly. It's one and two. They got demolished by San Francisco, although they had to travel full around the world and maybe didn't choose the right way to do that, but whatever. It's an extended preseason game, like we said. They fucked the Giants up and then they blew the game in Denver. And that, like, you know, they put up 500 yards, the roster is loaded. They've got some injuries, though, and this one and two start at like this preseason hype has turned into a question mark. I had them number one overall on my power rankings, on my mental power rankings that I don't actually have to write down. And you had them number one overall in the ones we actually officially put forward in the preseason. So you can't drop them too too much. So that's why 10 feels fair to me, to be honest. They're gonna go out and play the Eagles. A lot to talk about with Philly if they lose to the Rams, because they kind of should have had their gimme game against a third string QB in Chicago, and their season's starting to look a little wobbly if the Rams can go and sort of take a take a much-needed win off them. So let's see what the Rams do. I was really kind of excited to see the freakish Rams, the the zombie Aaron Donald fucking Rams. I I really did want to see them kind of at their full potential, at least for a little while. So let's see when they get everybody back and and you know, let's see what they can do. I mean, they're still a Super Bowl contender as far as I'm concerned. I understand the ugly start, drops them down here, but in my head, they could still turn this season around and win a Super Bowl.

SPEAKER_00

When you think about the Rams, they need to end the season with 11 wins. That's all they have to do. Get into the playoffs, and then who wants to face them? Nobody.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but like who wants to face San Francisco if they're still looking like this? And like if we get if we get a repeat of game one in the NFC Championship game, then more power to us. The Ravens, the Bengals, and the Seahawks. It makes sense the 7, 8, 9, I guess. Which one do I have the most problem with? I think they're all fine. I mean, the Seahawks they looked like the defending champ through two weeks. They fucked Arizona up, who might be frisky. They fo they messed up a really winnable game against Washington, in my opinion, but I that can have as the best of us. They outgained the commanders really badly, but turnovers fucked him up. So Sam Darnold can't be throwing pick sixes. He needs to look a lot better. They're gonna go play the Chargers, and it's kind of a tough time to play the Chargers because it's basically a must-win game for the Los Angeles Chargers. So if the Seahawks can go in and have another tough game against what is on paper a talented team and come out three and one, I could see them moving up here. I'm glad you didn't drop him down too low because of that ugly loss. I think it makes sense to drop him down because it was, again, ugly. Baltimore It's tough, man, because to be honest, I mean, Mike's saying Mike's saying constantly for years that Lamar Jackson's a bad quarterback is insane to me. Like I he's been the MVP playing quarterback, so I don't I don't understand it. What I will say is they look like they have all the same flaws. Um, they pulled out that win against Dallas, but they also probably shouldn't have let Dallas back into that game. Um, it was a bit of an inexplicable loss to New Orleans, but they did drop 41 on Indy. I I think Zay Flowers coming back, very helpful, opened up the passing game. Red zone offense is still really tough to watch. They gotta figure that out. They're gonna go get a probably an easy win against the Titans and be 3-1, so we can talk about them as a more legitimate force. Let's see what they put down on paper this weekend.

SPEAKER_00

It just looks to me like they have a coach that didn't change up enough. We were really excited to watch an offense designed around their MVP quarterback skills, and we're not seeing that. So I'd love to see it if he could start working that in. But right now, he looks like it looks like he's literally running Harborough's offense.

SPEAKER_01

So Yeah. I guess yeah, it doesn't look that different. That's the strange part, but I guess we'll see how it how it shakes out. Cincinnati um fucked Tampa up. They fucked Houston up 2-0. Tight divisional game at Pittsburgh, so I don't knock him too much for that. The defense, they looked promising in the first two games, came back down to earth against the Steelers, which is like not great because the Steelers' offense is I think nine is fair. Um They're not gonna mix it up with the top five yet. Let's see what happens against the Jags. I mean, this is a big game for me. I I really think it's another I I think Las Vegas, I was about to say Oakland, Las Vegas and and the Chiefs is a big like let's see what what these teams are made of situation because we don't want to see the Chiefs drop a game against against uh Las Vegas. We we really will have to talk about them in a more serious way if they go 4-0 and their fourth win is against the Chiefs. But the Bengals playing the Jags, these are this is kind of a powerhouse game. I mean, I I really am excited to see this, but there's also a chance the Jags come out and just beat their fucking asses. Like, I mean, I gotta be honest. I I like I got a bit of a weird feeling about this, about this Cincy team. I I don't know. They haven't done enough yet, but like let's see if they can prove me wrong. I don't, I just some some reason I don't see it. I I love Joe Burrow, but for some reason I just don't see it.

SPEAKER_00

Um anything on the Losing to Pittsburgh. Losing to Pittsburgh is a is an indictment of your entire team. And when you consider the fact that they beat Tampa and Houston, two teams that we have in the bottom third. So where are we impressed? Their defense is sucking.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they gotta um they gotta beat the Jags. To be fair, a team that lost to Pittsburgh in September of last year went on to make the Super Bowl. So we'll see. The Seahawks, we talked about uh the Jags. I mean, we kind of had to talk about the Jags as we went, to be honest, because they were uh heavily featured in a lot of these games. Um just try not to drop your hat on your microphone anymore. And then uh I do I will say they did fuck the Patriots up. It was it was not great. They hammered Cleveland, they stumbled a little bit at Denver, and then they absolutely, you know, they lost. Uh they they absolutely annihilated the Patriots. Their defense has honestly been the story. Um, number one in scoring defense. Number six makes sense to me. I I don't think that this is a shiny record. I really don't. I think this is an earned record um up and down. And same thing as we said about the Bengals, I'm saying about the Jags. If they come out and really beat the Bengals bad, like they did to the Pats, or even if they just beat them convincingly, this is a serious team we need to start talking about week to week.

SPEAKER_00

I couldn't agree more. If they come out and put a beating on the Bengals, this is the it feels like the most make or break to me because they're gonna launch themselves into the upper echelon of the league for me. Trevor Lawrence looks amazing. He looks amazing too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's he's he's looking like uh what I thought Herbert was gonna look like this year. Yeah, yeah. Uh watch this space. Number five,

Bears Chaos Win And Ben Johnson

SPEAKER_01

the Chicago Bears. Uh, with a season that makes absolutely no sense. 59 points against Carolina, three points against Minnesota, and then a 27-7 demolition of Philadelphia on Monday night football with their third string quarterback, Case Keenum. That Eagles win. That felt so good, man. I mean, I and I think the best part, and this is why I have to tell you why I love Ben Johnson and and you know, live by the sword, die by the sword, all good. But I was just like, okay, we ran all over Philly last season. They're gonna try and respond to that. They're gonna be heavy on the run defense. We're gonna have to have some new running packages out there. Monungai hasn't gotten a ton of touches this year, even though he's still running really hard. He's still running really good. He's been a little beat up. He came into camp a little beat up. Ben Johnson was like, Case Keenum, third string QB, sling that shit. Fucking throw that ball. I was like, wait, what? Where did it put a lot of trust? I was nervous. I was it was like when you're in uh your high school friend's car and they start driving a little bit too fast. Like you're like, this is a little nerve-wracking, but I don't want to say anything. I don't want to sound like a bitch. So he just started throwing the ball and he was throwing the ball really well. And he had a really good game and a really good offense. He got a lot of different weapons involved. The defense stars, man. Uh, three of our drafted guys, like putting up crazy advanced analytics about, you know, averaging 25.5 quarterback rating when they when the ball's thrown in their area. Uh uh Muhammad and Thieleman lights out defensive backs like all over the place. Theleman had a a Barkley stopping uh touchdown saving tackle followed up by an Andy Dalton pick. It w one play to another. You know, we're starting to actually look pretty fucking frisky. Delon, Dennis. Sounds a pretty goddamn good defensive coordinator. A lot of questions about the defense coming in. And yeah, there still are some, some personnel issues, but we actually got some pressure on the quarterback for once. We can't quite press with pressure with four. But when we add a fifth guy, we actually look like we can do something. So I'm liking that. I don't know what's going to happen. I need Caleb to come back, but like to try and keep the season alive while he's hurt. So far so good. The biggest question now is who starts? Who starts coming up uh against uh who the fuck do we play? The Jets. Who starts against the Jets on Sunday? I mean, I don't see a case to I don't see a case to sit case Keenum, to be honest, even though we paid Tyson Bajon at like one of one of the higher paid backups in the league.

SPEAKER_00

It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Let me explain this to you, because I watched the entire game and I felt so nostalgic because I remember those seasons where my Patriots were flailing, and I you watch a great coach versus a shit coach. And it doesn't matter what the he was he did outcoach Sirianni.

SPEAKER_01

That is what happened. I watched that full playout. It was crazy. Sirianni looked lost out there.

SPEAKER_00

Sirianni thought he was going left or Johnson went right. And then when Johnson was on offense, all Sirianni knew how to do was what he knew how to do, and he couldn't adapt to it. It didn't matter. It was coach versus coach. And it worked so fucking well. It doesn't matter who starts for quarterback against the Jets. Ben Johnson's gonna outcoach them. Welcome. Welcome to the upper echelon. It's an amazing film.

SPEAKER_01

I love that guy. I love that guy so much. It's awesome. He's the best. Um yeah, he's he is he is uh turning doubters into believers here in Chicago. I I really I really like him. I really like the guy. Um the whole good better best thing, like right in my veins. You know, the Bears winning feels better than the Bears winning ever has because it sort of feels sustainable now.

SPEAKER_00

Every player on the defense did their job. That's all they have to do. Here's your assignment, do your assignment, and we're gonna take care of the game. Because the Eagles didn't know how to scheme out of it.

SPEAKER_01

I do worry about his aggression sometimes, you know, going for it instead of kicking the easy three, especially with the backup's backup, a quarterback, whatever. I I don't want him to change because if you take one domino piece out, the whole fucking thing falls down. So let's just let's just ride this one out. Let's just see what we can we can do with Ben Johnson.

Top Four And Late Game Decisions

SPEAKER_01

Um the Denver Broncos, I'll just read out the next four because I think this makes sense as a top four. It's all very sensible. It was a very sensible power rankings by you, except for punishment. I think you put the Patriots really low because you were mad, and then like you were sensible, you were sensible for the remainder, uh, which makes a ton of sense. The the top four from one to four are San Francisco at one, which honestly, they've just looked like the best team. They just have looked like the best team. I don't know if they can sustain it, you know, the Transformers and the injuries and whatever, but they just have. Um, a team that looks like they could possibly beat them because of Patrick Mahomes and how they've looked and they're undefeated, is at number two in the Kansas City Chiefs. I think believing in Mahomes more than believing in Allen just as a body of work makes sense, which puts the Buffalo Bills at three. I you could make a perfectly good argument for any of these three teams at number one. You could make a perfectly reasonable argument for any of these three teams at number one, in my opinion. I think that Buffalo is probably your strongest case if you wanted to switch somebody out. I don't know. I mean, any of them could really do it. Five turnovers for Buffalo against the Chargers, not good. There are still some warning signs, I would say. They're gonna go play the Pats again in a sort of back-to-the-wall must-win game. And I just wonder how that game's gonna go. Again, divisional game, it could be a real palate cleanser for you guys. And I think it would be a real ding to Buffalo's year, considering the year the Patriots are having, if you guys were able to eke out a win there. Um, I hope you look completely different against Buffalo. I genuinely do, because they do look like you can get Adam. They look, there's stuff on tape that looks like you can get Adam here. Don't give Patrick Mahomes the ball at the end uh of a game. And and the reason a big part of the reason they're 3-0 is because the Colts uh kick the ball, kicked a field goal instead of going forward on fourth down after running the ball twice like pussies and in overtime and kick the ball back to Patrick Mahomes with plenty of time left on the clock. And I'm telling you, a hundred times out of a hundred, if you do that, I I grew up in the Tom Brady era. There's always one guy in the in the league that you just take your chances instead of giving them the ball back. You always just take your chances because the game's in your hands at least. Go for it on fourth down, try your best. Uh, you're gonna lose either way. Yeah, that in the way the way the overtime rules work, that fucking field goal does dick for you. Honest to God. It doesn't do it's just it's like just go for it. Like, just if you yeah, you stay alive, but you stay alive and you give the ball back to the best guy. It just doesn't make any sense. You gotta be not a pussy in that situation. You gotta trust your team, you gotta trust your offense there. You're right. It was really bad. It was really bad. I I need that to not happen again because we we need to all remember who we're playing against when we play Pat Mahomes. I gotta tell everybody. It's Patty, baby. It's Patty. I'm sorry that he had a bad season and everybody got really it's wishful thinking on your part. It was all wishful thinking on all of our parts if we if you were saying that they weren't they weren't coming back. He's this dude's fucking Michael Myers, he's never going away.

49ers Case And Brock Purdy Respect

SPEAKER_01

The 49ers at one, I honestly, it's it's a clean, clean pick. Um, they smoked the Rams, they smoked the Dolphins, and then yeah, Arizona made him sweat, but like you said, it was kind of just like individual blown plays, and it was like, okay, then we can just turn it back on and beat them. It's fine. Brock Purdy, who I've been a defender of since he came into the league. People just call him a system QB because he's white. And I just I am I'm not a hero for that abject racism. Like that dude balls out, he fucking balls out. Like he, yeah, sure, I get it. Mac Jones came in and they looked, he looked arguably as as serviceable. I think it's that. Plus, Brock Purdy can make improvisational plays. He's been given the keys to the offense. He's trusted completely by the head coach who's a football psycho. He's a he's an offense psycho. And I wouldn't want to fucking play him right now. I think Brock Purdy is a legitimate uh top-tier NFL quarterback. I think he's one of the better quarterbacks we have. I watched Drew Brees get a lot of shit over the years. I what, you know, I watched uh I watched genuinely talented quarterbacks get get compared to to other guys in their in their class or or you know, what have you. And I just would be like, the the the revisionist history is going to be crazy. Because now we talk about Drew Brees the way we should have been talking about Drew Brees at the time, but because he was in and around the same tier as Rothesberger, uh like Rogers, that da-da-da-da-da. I always said he was better better than Aaron Rodgers. I always thought he was a bit, I would have rather have him as a QB to build a winning winning offense around around because I think Rogers mentally just never quite had it the way that he should have. Yeah. So I I look at Brock Purdy, I'm I'm not saying his game is similar to Drew Brees, but I think a lot of the slander is similar to Drew Brees. And I think um I think I really like him, and I think I like watching them play. They probably top my TV rankings. Actually, the Bears probably top my TV rankings, to be honest.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, no, it's the Bears. If you're not watching the Bears, you need to make an adjustment and start watching the Bears on the Foundation. It's fucked so far. Electric offense and fucking shockingly confident defense. But here's the thing you've got Kyle Shanahan and you've got Brock Purdy, they're cooking. He had 90% completion rate week two. They're they're rolling together. So whether or not he's great, does it really matter? I don't think so.

SPEAKER_01

They just gotta stay healthy, man.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

Wrap Up And Week Four Warning

SPEAKER_01

Well, we did it. Sure is the game. We saw. We ranked. Well, you ranked. You're you're sad about the pants, but like, you know, hopefully we can turn things around. If you want to hear more about the pants, like I said, please go and listen to the uh great MTV Boston show that Matt and Mike did um over the course of the early week. This one will come out um before the Thursday night game, so we can really start seeing how right and wrong we were about these teams. Although we did hedge our bets against a lot of the middle teams, because I I gotta tell you guys, I just don't fucking know yet. And anyone who tells you they do, they're lying to you. Um kids, it's week four. Relax. Yeah, it is. It's week four. We gotta we gotta see, we gotta see how this board plays out a little bit. We gotta we gotta pot a few balls. So for myself, DK Sizzle, for the man himself, uh sad about the Patriots, but you know, un undeterred in ranking all these teams, Matt Wilcox. This has been forever and always missing the point.
